OK, it's time to bury this Winter.

On his obituary it will read ' Born 1st December 2025 - Died 28th February 2026. Predeceased by December 2015, Sadly missed by the Ducks. He was a Charitable fellow at Christmas, helped towards a stunning Aurora display, broke records and hosted memorable weather events, even in our capital '. However at Winter's graveside we can mutter that he made us all feel miserable and stole our time and energy. Like a politician, promised us everything but delivered nothing. And as he's lowered into the ground and filled in with sandbags and muck, his legacy will be nothing but blankets of rushes and moss. So as we now turn our back to Winter's graveyard ,with George Lee's smudged sympathy card stuck in the dirt, we can face the rainbow of Spring and say under our breaths with vengeance 'GOOD RIDDANCE'.

A mild 12c. made the dull damp day a bit more tolerable though, I thought. Just got out for a short walk an hour ago. Some blue skies appearing now. (Limerick)

No I thought it had rained every day this year specifically in Valentia. Was it not on the weather last week but yeah 0.1mm is too much I guess so the wait goes on.

Rain alternating between drizzle all day. Boring weather.

Just mentioning this out of interest. Still a long way to go till solar minimum (around 2030) but the sun had its first spotless day yesterday since June 8th 2022.

Feels like we've turned a corner in Dublin these past couple of days, only one light shower in the evening yesterday and today while grey and drizzly was mild and fairly calm, one of the very few evenings this year I've gone for a walk after work and not come back soaked or weather beaten. Still far from good but just having that incessant cold wind gone is a huge boost to being able to spend time outdoors without feeling miserable

Nice morning in north Longford. Stock looked after and as I turned off the lights in the shed and the yard I can see without my head lightl at 6:45 am to walk back to the house. Still dark, but that chink of morning light has appeared thats enough to get me in safely without it. The dogs are running in front of me happily. Springlike morning.

At least it stayed dry in Meath for daylight hours. Got a bit of Storm Amy's timber diced up. Land is saturated .

this is a hell of a lot of an improvement in what we’ve had in the east (Kilkenny) for the past 2 months. No longer that incessant rain, brighter and feels a lot milder overall.

Some funny little birds/ ducks on the North Dublin seafront today

Far from an expert Goldengirl but enjoy photographing birds at times and learning about them. I would be more confident that the bottom pic are Turnstones, the top pic is very hard to make out, looks like a Brünnich's Guillemot ( rare ) /Thick Billed Murre perhaps but only one other sighting in Ireland!

More likely might be a Guillemot, pic is a bit off putting, maybe another bird in front of it moving and blurred, the white patch on the nape might not be from the main bird?

    Any other guesses 🙂 ?

High of 12.4C / Low 10.7C /current 11.4C here near Tralee so very little temperature range today under overcast cloudy conditions, heavy shower early this morning, small bit of light rain with mist and drizzle on and off first half of the day and drier in the afternoon with some mist again this evening. 2.2mm

Sorry about the pic meteorite, bloody water kept moving !

White patch is just a reflection on the water. Black crested with white underside and flecked grey wings I think.

We saw a flock of them on the sand earlier in the week at low tide and only tried to upload a pic today to Google Lens . It came up with "Tufted Duck "😊

The smaller ones were very cute , all cuddled together on the side of the pier avoiding the wind which was biting out there .

God Meteorite, I can't see how you can make out the possibility of two birds in Goldengirl's top picture, you have me confused and blurry eyed zooming in and out 🤔

Ya most of rain stayed over extreme west n out to sea today. Still loads of rain forecast for Sligo for next 7 days but still under 100mm for February only 82mm yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,014 ✭✭✭DellyBelly

A bit more spring like today in Dublin at last. Pretty mild and stayed dry. The birds are a red breasted merganser and turnstones

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,480 ✭✭✭✭road_high

one thing I’ve noticed the last few mornings- birds are out singing again. Which they obviously can’t do if it’s pissing rain all the time

Didn't see any rain today. The reprieve

IIn Dublin tonight. A blissfull 11⁰ in the city and didn't feel cold.

    Rain for tomorrow's commute. Boo.

are there places in Ireland still on a crazy amount of consecutive days with rain or has it been broken?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,432 ✭✭✭OldRio

Rain this morning. 10C. Warm rain. Wonderful. Did some tidying in the garden yesterday. The tracks of the wheelbarrow and my feet have made one hell of a mess of the grass but what can you do?

Daffodils are out with the crocus. The yellow and purple colours look attractive and put a smile on your face.

I took the bins out yesterday and even that left track marks in the garden, I can just imagine what the rideon lawnmower would do to my garden! Another dull, dark, drizzle day of muck here.

Nice day in Sligo. Sunny over 13c definitely Springlike today and we have lost the cold of the past number of weeks. March may be cooler later though depending on SSW.

The rain on my windscreen can throw up some weird shapes in Aldi car park
