Yeah, I priced it for 6 nights in March at the weekend and even with the 20% off it was nearly 80 euro. Cheaper for me to get two taxis

Same for me. I'm a 65 Euro taxi journey away from airport with poor bus connection. We used to use the car parks but it rarely makes sense, unless it is for a few days only.

This fixed fare taxi lad is pretty good, doesnt operate on Sundays though.

    Pre booking essential.

Just a question, booking parking for 7 days at Easter, and Park2Travel is €16 cheaper than Holiday Blue Long Term. There will be 4 of us and two check in bags so really, for the sake of €16 I just want to go with whichever is more convenient? Maybe the are both the same but thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks.

Blue Holiday Long Term is further away and the frequency of the bus transfer is generally less frequent. I would choose Park2Travel especially if it is cheaper.

Also check out the Clayton Hotel(K67 X3H5 eircode to not confuse with the other Clayton Hotel) PARKING20 promo code was meant only be for bookings up to the 31st March but my May potential booking is now showing as being discounted 20% so I will likely look to cancel my Park2Travel one now so I don't have to lugging large suitcases over loose gravel.

The “further away” thing shouldn’t be a factor in red, blue or quick park. The difference between them is 5 minutes on a bus.

the frequency of the bus could be a pain if it’s pi55ing rain

Sure, frequency of bus, parking surface etc all valid differentiators (along with price obviously)

But staying on a bus maybe a minute, maybe five minutes more isn’t for me

The "PARKING20" for the Clayton is only 10% on the dates I selected for July & August

I guess it does say up to 20%

Park2travel is still cheaper for me

I parked in the Clayton last year. had to wait over an hour for 3 buses before I got on to one at 10pm to finally get back to the car.

It can become a factor if you include Clayton - Depends on where you are coming from too, no point in driving the past Clayton to park in Long Term Blue or vice versa to save 5 minutes on the Airport bus but spend 15 minutes each way in additional travel time to get there. Park2Travel is not really any different

Different matter if the costs are materially different of course.

Anyone know the daily rate if you are late? Flight was cancelled so will be 24 hours late exiting the car park

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,903 ✭✭✭thebiglad

With DAA they would waive the fee if you can prove flight was cancelled and not your fault, surely park2travel would do the same.

What happens if my return flight is delayed?

If you have overstayed your booking by more than 3 hours you will need to make an additional payment.  Please press the intercom and an agent will assist you in how to make the overstay payment before you exit the car park. If you do not believe you should be charged an extra fee, please discuss this with a PARK2TRAVEL staff member. If you can ring or email us to notify us in advance it will certainly help.

I had a 20min wait for a red bus last week, during that time two pink busses collected. The timer on the bus stop meant nothing as busses didn’t arrive when it counted down.

For reference, this is what the automated email says that they send out the day before you are due to return:

What if I’ve stayed longer than expected?
No problem, we offer a 3-hour grace period for overstays. If you’ve been delayed and parked longer than this, you can simply pay for any additional time by scanning the QR code displayed on the signage at the shuttle bus shelter.

I sent them a mail and thus was their response:

    Thank you for contacting Park2Travel,

Sorry to hear about your delay,

you will be able to pay for any overstay at the exit barrier by using scanpay

Guess they need to update their messaging around that. Appears to be 3 different versions of the rule.

I cancelled my own booking and moved it to the Clayton. It suits me as the locations are basically the same for me the fact I need to drive 220kms to get there anyway and having a cafe/breakfast option and a toilet in the hotel will be beneficial along with being cheaper.

I would save 30 Euro if I moved my booking to the Clayton and it would not be out of my way to use it. I have never used Clayton before. Are buses suitable for elderly traveller in the group and are the buses reasonably regular from experience?

Clayton is fine, parked there a good few times over the years only issues I've encountered was the return bus, advertised as every 25 mins, in my experiences this is not always the case. On two occasions I had a 45 min and a 55 min wait. Ringing the hotel was pointless on each of those occasions also. I haven't used their parking since. I did like the idea of the underground parking there.

I now just go between park2travel and Red car park. Red carpark definitely has better facilities, however the return bus with Park2travel, in my experience, I've never had more than a 5 min wait for one is definitely better than the return buses for red carpark. I've used park2travel a good few times over last 12 months

I’ve used Clayton and the airport long stay and they are both fine it’s just who has the cheaper service for me, park2travel came in the best this year but at €250 for four weeks I might fly next time 😂

Depending on circumstances you might be able to get someone to drive you to the airport for cheaper.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,277 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

I did think of that and also priced a car rental and drop off but cork to Dublin isn’t the best journey

€17 for the day overstay 🙄

Yeah, I've only done the Clayton once, and once was enough for me. Was just short of an hour waiting for the shuttlebus back from the Airport. Rang the hotel twice while standing out in the cold wet zone 16.

Red or Blue is grand for me now.

was this with Park2Travel and was the flight cancelled by the airline due to the US weather?

If so it seems quite shortsighted of them to charge for someone outside of anyone’s control.
