What's odd about it? Presumably they have made the commercial decision to continue with their normal scheduled programmes in the prime-time 8pm to 10pm/11pm slots rather than sport of an unknown duration. They've no expectation of the evening match being concluded by 8pm and will continue it on a lesser station, stream or red button.

Basically exactly what BBC used to do (7pm → 8pm on BBC2 then switching to BBC4 or red button).

They've something called 5Action which I think is the rough equivalent of ITV3.

The evening snooker switches to that station at 8pm.

Ah cheers. Didn't know they had that. Tuned in now.

Bit of a surprise to see Allen demolishing Selby here on his form.

The last 4 of this tournament is a tough old school now.

Was Selby in the form for it?

4 heavy hitters in the semis. Should be good.

Impressed with 5's coverage so far. Have they rights now for future tournaments over TNT in UK?

CH5 just have this and the Tour Championship. But these could develop into more prominent tournaments.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,994 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Higgins had that won, but you're never over the line until the scoreline proves it. 5-5 decider, that could go beyond 6 o'clock.

Channel 5 got their fair share out of it today.

Pink straight into the middle off the blue spot and he misses it.

Mad stat there - So Trump has lost 9 final frame deciders in a row now?

is Zhao the best middle bag potter we’ve ever seen?

Higgins just running out of steam over the long matches again.

But he's had a great week.

He never really built up steam today though.

Higgins is great to be still making the finals at this stage, anyway.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Only really missed a ball or two more than Zhao at crucial times. Then Zhao went into beast mode.

Ronnie is going to play in the World Seniors in Sheffield.

Which means 17 days around Sheffield could turn into 24.

He hasn't turned up for Wales this week, which means he will have seen little tournament play by the time he goes to the Crucible.

That seniors competition will suddenly get serious in the next five years. I wonder does that mean Ronnie is writing off the WC proper? Normally he goes on about how gruelling the WC is how he needs to recover etc.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Odd decision. I thought Ronnie could only be in the UK a certain number of tax days? This made sense to me as to why he would skip the Players and/or Tour but still do an exhibition tournament in ROI (and why he was practicing in Fergals club here, not in UK).

Surely at this stage Ronnie needs ranking points cover, a couple of wins in the Players and Tour could have sustained him next season (obviously a deep run in Sheffield could be as valuable).

Unless he is intent of course on winning both the WC and SWC? Maybe it's a record he feels he can get but might never be done again.

    Still v. odd.

I'd say he'd still like an 8th title. He got to the semis last year, he may still fancy it and respects it enough.

    But ultimately, who knows.

Mark Williams also playing in it.

And Ronnie, Williams, Hendry and Higgins are playing in the "John Virgo Trophy" in Goffs in April.

am I imagining things, wasn’t Ronnie beaten in the final?

I think Ronnie is betting on an early round knockout. Bitta work with TNT/Eurosport then a few quid from the seniors. Winning gets into the Champion of Champions as well.

Xintong beat Ronnie in the semi final last year, then Williams in the final.

23 year old Chang Bingyu beats Murphy 4-0 in little over an hour, with four centuries. Murphy potted 1 red.

Aaron Hill got a 4-0 defeat as well, but Selby, Allen also beaten already in this round and Luca Brecel firmly languishing mid rankings now at this stage, beaten 4-0 today by Jackson Page.

He dazzled at the Crucible last year, but really he has done nothing much since he won the World Championship 3 years ago.

I heard Bingyu put on a bit of a master class against Murphy today. And speaking of Murphy, I saw TNT posted this.

I never saw that before, that's some shot. I meant to post this comment 4 days ago. Came here to post another comment and see it's still in the draft.

Great second session to this second semi, Lisowski reels off 3 frames to get to 4-3 ahead; Higgins who had 250 odd points / 30 mins / 3 frames without a pot comes in for a clearance to make it 4-4.

The BBC website is only 3 frames behind. Lisowski now leads 4-3, though Higgins is 67-0 up and counting in the next frame.

If only I had my satellite dish still set up, I could watch this on BBC Wales. The dish is up, but the wires are long disconnected.

Would be good to see Lisowski win again playing some lovely snooker.

250 grand bonus for the Bet Victor series up for grabs too.

In the trenches though here against Higgins, who is showing some consistency in the last few weeks.

5-5. It's gone to a decider. Good match.
