Ex-DOJ prosecutor says royal's Epstein arrest may ensnare Trump

“Those people have to be very worried about Andrew’s arrest, which puts subtle pressure on other governments to follow suit and investigate those for whom there is credible information suggesting complicity. And beyond that, what all does Andrew know? Who might he offer up in an effort to save his own skin?”

Go on Andy, sock it to them, from a safe cell @ HMP Wormwood Scrubs, with a proviso he gets out on Trump's pending death/3 years.

I heard one commentator, on LBC or somewhere, saying that AMW arrest shows that despite their much lauded constitution, the UK, with its non written constitution and based on traditions etc, is showing that nobody is above the law while the US continues to prove that it is closer to a real monarchy, with complete immunity for the king and everyone in his court, than the UK.

A gigantic mess considering the amounts of money involved. A total clown show running the US.

So tariffs have been ruled illegal, which always seemed to be the case, as it should be Congress looking after it and Trump, despite being apparently the greatest deal-maker ever, was unable to even contemplate getting any deal through Congress, so just made stuff up.

The EU and other markets should now launch a case against the US for the illegal imposition of Tariffs on them. Obviously, all importers in the US should be doing the same.

With the poor GDP numbers out today, this is a terrible news day for Trump. Obviously, he will simply wail and claim its all a conspiracy by Biden, or Obama or HC, and his supporters will believe that hook, line and sinker, and probably call for the SC to be disbanded and Trump the only one allowed to make any decisions.

What's bizarre is both sidesing it. Loads (in fact a huge majority) of conservative judges have ruled against Tiny's administration. If you're talking about subjects like body autonomy and civil rights, then yes those are interpreted differently. But there has never been governmental flaunting of the law and deliberate misinterpretation of it by the supreme court like the last 12 months.

I guess now we know why Venezuelan loot money was stashed by Trump in a Saudi Arabian bank

This administration is now a failure in EVERY aspect.

What time do the White House Press Conferences happen? Are they still to come today, or have they already happened?

It's all falling apart for Trump

The rant and tantrums will be epic today..

More evidence of how terrible his economy is comes out with the anemic GDP growth and now his only trade policy has been blown up!!

No doubt they will find some other mechanism to use to apply tariffs (which might end up being eventually overturned as well) as there's no way he just walks away here.

The fear is that this will make him do something catastrophic in Iran to try and deflect attention away from this humiliation.

That is going to sting the hole off him. Will absolutely torture him having to give money back. What a mess of a man and president.

I'm going to give America one last chance this November. Prove me wrong and show me you still have a spine and some decency and absolutely pillage the Republicans at the ballot box. I think I'd give up all hope if the Dems are not in charge of both houses post the midterms. There is really no excuse.

Lolling at the news that when it became clear that SCOTUS was going to rule against Trump on the tariffs, the press corp members in the White House were hustled out to prevent them hearing the response from himself when he was told the bad news.

Bessent is supposedly already preparing measures through Trump's presidential powers within the limits the SCOTUS ruling has imposed on tariffs. Its up to Congress now to seize back control of the ability to levy tariffs from him. He apparently thinks the SCOTUS decision is a disgrace. Politeness so far, the fury is probably building up…

His State of the Union address on Tuesday will be epic…

A ranting , fuming , delusional pity party.

Why is the stock market rising. Will it collapse later in the day when reality dawns or are we living in a surreal world!

Who's getting blamed do we think?

Makes the US seem unstable and flaky. Everyone knows an absolute clown is running the country and their economy.

I don't the SC definitively ruled either way on paying the money back, and it would plausibly be a difficult process anyway. No-ones getting their tariff money back anytime soon.

And there are other methods he can use to put tariffs on without going through Congress.

So whilst its a bloody nose, which is great, it's only a bloody nose. It's not multiple fatal knife wounds. (meant figuratively, not encouraging violence!)

It's rising (a little, on a flattish enough trading day) because it is potentially good for trade/business.

A spike in the price of a barrel of oil is the last thing the Trump administration want in advance of the midterms.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

The sweet part is that two of those that ruled them not OK were appointed by Trump.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,807 ✭✭✭SleetAndSnow

Apparently he has a “backup plan for tariffs” so this isn’t the end of anything yet

Why is it still called the Kennedy Space Centre? Surely the Trump Kennedy Space Centre https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c86y1g6wde3o

Because costs are going down for companies as they won't have to pay tariffs.

They are assuming that imports and exports will increase as the US tariffs and the various reciprocal tariffs get lifted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,776 ✭✭✭All_in_Flynn

Tariffs are a barrier to trade. The less barriers the better. The markets are reacting to the fact that bully boy's stick has been taking off him. It won't last though as the GDP numbers will eventually take hold of the markets.

America is being ran into the ground under this Government. Debt is ballooning and they are getting anaemic growth in return. There is a recession on the way I think.

Perhaps trading stabilization. Trump can't randomly and suddenly impose bullsh*t tarrifs anymore.
