Not what you want you want to start your week. I nearly cried looking out the window at 7am in Dublin, as it's not what you want on your commute into work. Then again sadly it's the norm these days, and I'm like the Michelin Man leaving the house every morning for my cycle into work.

I know, you couldn't make it up. I got drenched cycling in, and now beautiful blue skies. No doubt it will stay like that until the commute home.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Very windy in Dublin again. I recall getting I think 17c a few years ago and perfect blue skies in February and I cycled out to Dun Laoghaire. What I'd do for such a day now.

Nice day now in Kildare. Some heavy showers this morning which caught me out on my run.

Nice warm shower when I got home did the trick though 😀

still a chance we could see temperatures of 15/16C as February and winter draws to a close. I just hope the insane relentless deluges of the past 5 weeks is now over or at least the worst of it over with.

Hopefully we get a half decent Spring but one that isn't too warm and sunny because anytime we get a really good Spring, the summer itself is usually rubbish.

superb day in Arklow today,so much sun

The solar batteries are almost full with the panels exporting to the max allowed

Between both, nearly 9Kwh is being produced atm and it’s only February

I have not paid for electricity at all in 14 months as the surplus built up from March to October covers any of the dull days

MT hinting at cold March. I wouldn’t be surprised!

Spring 2025 was wonderful. Warmest on record and Sunniest on record (for most stations). May was just wonderful. Summer 2025 then turned out very nice for the most part. Warmest on record.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,883 ✭✭✭pureza

very windy here in Arklow today

    Gusting to 70kmh westerly

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,772 ✭✭✭pauldry

Its been quite a cold Winter over NH compared to past 20 years. Even here while nothing major it has been cold.

Wonder what caused a difference between this and other years. Storms in US and Southerly jet is partly but not the warm trend of other years at all.

It occurred to me just now when I heard about another weather warning that there must be a record this year on weather warnings within a certain time period. It has felt like almost daily warnings this last month.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,893 ✭✭✭Rougies

Yeah it's probably a record for a 30-day period or something like that. All the weather warnings since the system was introduced are available in spreadsheet format here if anyone is interested:

    https://data.gov.ie/dataset/archived-weather-warnings

Here's the first ever warning, sounds familiar to this winter lol

It issued on 25th April 2012 and was yellow rainfall warning, for counties in Munster and Leinster

Heavy rain moving into Southern coastal counties later Tuesday night and moving Northwards on Wednesday, bringing 20 - 35 mm to parts of the East and South, with a further 25 mm of rain possible in some Eastern coastal areas on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Horrible torrential showers of rain and hail on my round trip from Galway to Newcastle West today, borderline dangerous at times with the intensity of the rain and the spray from the road.

Rained every day this year in Valentia. 🤮

Wild about trees downed but maybe with the extremely saturated ground it wouldn't take much to up root them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,327 ✭✭✭Dazler97

warnings could be tweaked they said after the 6 news forgot to say that earlier

Seriously though , it's been impossible to dry washing the last while . Wish all clothes could be tumble dried .

And that smelly wet sock odour that everything gets drying slowly indoors .

Enough to make you go out and buy Outdoorable...almost ;)

There were trees down last week in Dublin after all the heavy rain, this one blocked my way to work

I know it's been very wet this winter in Spain but I find it hard to believe that is has rained every day so far this year in Valencia. I could believe it if was Valentia, but I can't imagine it being consistently that wet in Valencia.
