Yours for €78, or the Player Fit €83. I had to look up what that means. A few counties have gone a bit mad with their away kit designs, including Dublin.

Seems like we are playing Tyrone and the ref at times here…a lot of easy frees to Tyrone here…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 101 ✭✭quidel7

Ref ain’t giving Cavan much definitely.

Tyrone just waltzing through that weak defence. Awful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 277 ✭✭benjy1000

We got a few soft frees there.

    Ref overall is atrocious

Sign of things to come under McCabe, just atrocious defending all year long, no plan or intensity to what they are at and as for attacking, slow laborious build up and take the wrong option so many times. You can really see the age of some of the team out there today. Relegation incoming

They look like scoring a goal every time they kicks long from kickouts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 277 ✭✭benjy1000

This sort of performance must be what the players were talking about when they marched up to McCabe’s gaff begging him to be manager

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 600 ✭✭✭Thunderbirds

Can see why he doesn't wanna talk to the media.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,959 ✭✭✭celt262

    We don't have the players.

It is poor fare in every respect. Too many times the ball was there on the ground and Cavan didn’t come out with it and gave it away repeatedly throughout the course of the game. So weak and open defensively. Not a hand put on Canavan

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 600 ✭✭✭Thunderbirds

Who's in charge of that. The County Board have actually created a single point of failure which is madness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 339 ✭✭ipitydafool

Pathetic second half, Tyrone in 2nd gear. That is 24,23 and so 28 points we have leaked so far in the league, not near good enough.

It's impossible to develop county players when you only have development squads for 40 hours a year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,721 ✭✭✭Cavan_King

I wonder how true that story is. Our gutless CB needed some excuse for hiring a man had a dreadful record with our development panels over the last 13 years.

McCabe is reaping what he himself has sowed.

As Killian Clarke remarked during the week though, it won’t bother him one bit.

And the man at fault for that is our senior manager. He keeps playing Donohoe and ryan Brady despite continuous poor games. Leaving Omagh wouldn’t leave you optimistic.

Some perspective is badly needed here.

We've played two of last years all Ireland Semi Finalists, stuck with one until the end. We've played Cork away which is a tricky fixture for anyone especially with a massive home crowd.

Next 3 games, very winnable, 6 points may see us safe.

Not playing like that i'm afraid. That defending was just too bad to expect anything from any game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29 Breffniblue71

Our last two league campaigns we nearly got promotion and now the conversation is staying up, massive regression.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭large_palette

The body language was awful there at the end. Tyrone finished at a canter.

And that was with a manager who wasnt up to it according to most here.

As soon as Tyrone got their 1st goal, an awful call by a ref that looked like he was picked up from a pub on the way to the game, I knew we would jack it in. We are mentally pathetic, no courage or fight when playing Tyrone. The longer it went on the more we gave up. That is a piss poor Tyrone team and they thrashed us. Some of the stuff we do on the ball is just so bad its unbelievable. So many exampled I could give but you all saw it. Defensively we are a shambles. And remember Tyrone butchered a lot of scores and we probably won midfield 60-40 over all. I dont see us beating Kildare. Louth is 50:50 and you would hope we can beat offaly. But heh, at least we promoted a new blac/blue jersey and threw 140 years of tradition into the toilet for a few extra quid. It is depressing.

Except Kildare drew with Tyrone, Derry beat them. Louth within 1 pt of Meath. That is the current form

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,721 ✭✭✭Cavan_King

He had no managerial experience whatsoever, not even with a club team. That was my main issue.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,306 ✭✭✭piplip87

Yes bit we also looked abysmal in the first couple of league games last year. Apart from today we have played fairly decent in long spells against Meath and Cork, much much better than we did in the first two last year.

Hopefully Paddy Lynch and O'Connell will be fit to start the next day and it will give a massive boost both ends of the field.

Louth haven't beaten us in the league, the last couple of years, Kildare drew with Tyrone who also have a habit of bad starts in the league so wouldn't read too much into the form at the moment.

Relegation looks like Offaly and one from ourselves, Louth and Kildare. I would be confident of beating the 3 of them.

That being said, a year in the Tailteanan and division 3 wouldn't be the worst thing to happen as there is a massive rebuild underway.

Could be looking at two from Armagh, Dublin and Monaghan going down. So hypothetically could have Armagh, Dublin, Tyrone and Derry in division 2 next year. So maybe a year down to develop

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 566 ✭✭✭mylestheslasher

I think going down would be a disaster for development.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,915 ✭✭✭Bummer1234

Gooch said it last night as it is at the Kerry Galway game when Cavan was mentioned. “Yes they have come close to getting good wins but that’s not points on the board”

Looking at that performance today you’d be afraid to call the next two games v Kildare and Louth winnable!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36 BreffniBoy123

surely there is a better goalkeeper in the county than Liam Brady?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29 Breffniblue71

Should we judge managers by their experience? Managed a club team or not we competed in the last two division 2 campaigns. We now have an inexperienced bench and an aged starting team who will be around for this year and max next year.

McCabe is clueless… like a weaned calf roaring on the side-line (on TV for all to hear).. embarrassing for a county with rich tradition in football. In saying all that, Cavan unfortunately deserve this due to the way they have been run by the board over the last decades. They always look after themselves first before the players.
