UEFA must be a bunch of cranks for banning Russia so…

The key issue is that Ireland would forfeit the game and be thrown out of the competition.

Better they stick to the rules and be the bigger team - play the game and with the full throated support of the fans, humiliate Israel on the field of play.

I've no doubt the Irish fans will find creative ways visually and audibly to express displeasure at a team representing a Genocidal Pariah State.

I also read a comment by Irish basketball - I think they've played Israel twice and a third game is due. Whilst it was difficult, someone on the team said they are doing it because they have to - but hopefully they won't have to play them again.

The only thing I do hope for is zero trouble from fans before and after the game. And if they do kick off, they are quickly closed down by the authorities.

If any Maccabi fans show up and chant their racist shyte inside or outside the ground, they should popped into a cell for the night before being deported early the next morning. I would of course offer them a cup of milky tea and a rasher sambo for the journey home - I'm not heartless.

Russia isn't murdering innocent Palestinians though. So in some people's minds it's ok to ban them. Banning Israel for doing that is a step too far apparently.

This article is worth reading to understand how many countries have refused to play against the Palestine Football Association (Israel) and how they qualified for the 1958 World Cup without having to play even one minute of football.

    https://sportsandgeopolitics.substack.com/p/why-does-israel-play-in-europe

In August 1928, he founded the Eretz Israel Football Association to conform to FIFA's rules. Rules according to which only associations representing states could be members.

The association quickly sought and obtained membership in FIFA in 1929, under the official name of the Palestine Football Association (PFA). This was a diplomatic victory of immense value for the Zionist movement, which managed to secure international recognition for a Jewish-led institution as the official representative of "Palestine," at a time when Jews were a minority in the territory.

Two ways I look at this, if Ireland refused to play them it might give other Countries the impetus to also refuse to play them, unlikely Austria would join us unfortunately.

On the other hand I would like to see us hammer them out of sight.

Austria is staunchly pro Israel and Kosovo is an American lackey that has sworn its allegiance to Israel.

It's so sad that i have to say this but that home game against Israel should be played outside Ireland. I fear that something bad will happen that will reinforce our disgraced and indeed well deserved image and reputation for being the most anti semitic country in Europe.

I actually will be supporting Israel in both games anyway. I just could not get behind Ireland in the home game in particular knowing the type of crowd that will be in the Aviva that evening. The guards better be on the ball here the worst of the worst will be heading to Dublin that night. There will people going to it just for an excuse and opportunity to beat up some Israelis.

Give a couple of examples of Ireland being 'the most anti-Semitic country in Europe' outside of us criticising Israel for its actions in Gaza. If what you say is correct, there must be a whole list of incidents and events involving discrimination against Jewish people that you can draw from.

Its a good draw for Ireland as a country. I think it will make people think more carefully about the Anti Semitism problem in Ireland. There ll be a huge light shone on Ireland during those 2 games. I think theres a big chance Irelands home game will be in the UK as the left wing in Ireland will be frothing at the mouth and there could be trouble. Hopefully the return leg will be in Tel Aviv. Theres a ceasefire, the war is over and Israel are entitled to a home venue.

    Support 🇮🇱 Israel

I don't think Israeli fans will be attacked by us. We're not scumbags and we don't have a history of rioting. I certainly hope not, especially if the away fixture is in Israel it could be very dangerous for our fans if they're looking for retribution.

Wishful thinking but it'd be great if Israel was gone by then and the decision was taken out of our hands!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,182 ✭✭✭SafeSurfer

    That’s really funny.

I just could not get behind Ireland because their fans might be mean so I am going to support the country whose leader is wanted for crimes against humanity instead.

Haven't you heard? When you murder innocent civilians during a ceasefire it doesn't count apparently.

Bringing politics into sports, my friend.

Most sensible folk can see the ramifications of that into the future?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,182 ✭✭✭SafeSurfer

Would you be opposed to a Republic of Ireland vs Russia friendly international?

Sorry to burst your bubble there Brendan, it's international countries playing each other, there's already politics involved.

Certain countries are kept apart in the draw from each other.

It is good news. By Jove!! Freedom of speech, freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom of association are the cornerstone of a democracy.

On Friday, three judges, led by the president of the king’s bench division, Dame Victoria Sharp, ruled the decision to proscribe the group was unlawful but the ban on the group would remain to give the government time to appeal.

They allowed the challenge on two of four grounds, namely that there was “a very significant interference” with the rights to freedom of speech, freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom of association and that the then home secretary Yvette Cooper’s decision to proscribe Palestine Action was not consistent with her own policy.

Starry: The next step according to AI is the Court of Appeal (Civil Division).

"It acts as the intermediary appellate court, with further appeals potentially going to the Supreme Court.

No bubble burst a chara, you are a little behind the times there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,085 ✭✭✭Rocket_GD

No it is you who continues to be behind the times, around 2 years or so, a genocide happening before your eyes but all you continue to do is shill for the regime committing it.

No, see some of us have morals and don't just "move on" from a genocide that depsite a "ceasefire" hundred of Palesitinians are still dying.

Why do you excuse this genocide and ongoing killing during a "ceasefire"?

I doubt I'll actually get an answer, and just wait for you to come back in a few weeks with some other nonsesne quip and run away. Rinse and repeat.

Netanyahu may get the Nobel Piss Prize this year for ending the war in Palestine. A funny way to end a war though by completing the genocide and ethnic cleansing through extermination but, as always, scum will be scum.

At least 54 Palestinians have been wounded in attacks by Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli forces across the occupied West Bank today.

Over 70,000 dead is a bit more than the glib "politics". Boycott was good enough for Apartheid South Africa, is good enough for Russia and will be good enough for the state of Israel.
