I had my station interview a few weeks ago, applied Feb 2025 and see people getting invited that applied in September 😬 annoys me I can’t imagine how the people waiting longer feel.. anyways they text you if you’re invited but if they fail your form B do they contact you?

Has anyone gotten a conditional offer? Or will it be that they will wait to ensure vetting is completed before sending a non conditional one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 687 ✭✭✭DuffleBag

Conditional here. Didn't have any station interview and deferred February intake. Applied in October

    Just a heads up,

I applied in feb '24 with all stages complete in july 24 finishing in the top 25 OOM. It wasnt until October 25 i sat my station interview, and still waiting for an offer.

Vetting takes as long as it takes, batch number, place after each stage doesn't matter when you reach vetting stage.

Do not try guage when you may get an offer as each case is different, my advice is just move on with your life as normal and dont put anything on hold, like i did, awaiting a potential offer as you will drive yourself crazy.

If and when you get an offer you will have an opportunity to defer to the following intake and you can decide then if that works for you given your circumstances.

Its unfortunate that vetting takes so long for the majority but thats just the way it is

I wish you all the best of luck!

I have a question on the physical. My son interviewed online two weeks ago, was confirmed as passed last week, and has been invited for a physical in three weeks. He’s fit, but he’s a prop and will need to shift some weight and work a bit on his aerobic in order to pass I think. If he fails the physical how far away is the repeat usually scheduled for (I’m assuming he can repeat)? He’s always assumed this was a long process and he could concentrate more on weight and fitness when the rugby season ended 🙄

I was there with a girl who failed it the first time and she had mentioned that it was about a month before hand. Now I dont know if thats the same for all but he might have a bit of time to get sorted. Saying that, its not an awful test. Just practice the beep and he will get through it no bother

fair play to them. You won’t be long loosing interest in joining after waiting 9 months and no word back. I would nearly go to Australia for 3 months and if I get word back well and good. I literally put off going down under just for this stupid application process that takes far too long. I recently learned that they even send people home from temple roe after training because the vetting hasn’t come back clear. Load of bollocks to tell the truth.

Congrats on getting the offer. Just to ask, did they give you a start date in May?

Heard back from Garda medical. They wanted me to get an additional eyesight test after my medical appointment. Sent it in today but my unaided vision is 6/20 when the requirement is 6/18 min so I slightly fall outside of that. My aided vision however is completely fine and well above the minimum requirement. Would anyone know how likely it is to fail me or if it's possible that there's an exception to that.

does anyone know if you fail the pct after giving a hair sample for the drug test must you give another hair sample at your repeat pct ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49 MrJonsb25

I would assume so. I think its their only means of doing it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16 heyarnold11

No, I failed my first PCT & gave my hair sample the first time & when I repeated PCT I didn't have to give another hair sample.

@heyarnold11 ah good thanks for that, hope all went well at your repeat!

Is there a certain day/time that offers go out? Like Friday 9am etc or is it just luck of the draw, save a lad from refreshing his email 24/7. 2024 campaign, everything done! Stuck in vetting purgatory for 16months and counting......

Did you have any questionable moments or encounters with the Garda?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 Landis94

Nope, penalty points is all , haven't left the country since my teens. In my 30s now. I have a sister abroad alright, outside Europe that's be it. At my station interview a inlaw was brought up in discussion but the inspector insured me all would be grand and he was satisfied with what I told him.

@Landis94 Don't answer if you don't feel like it, but in what regard was your in-law brought up? Was it a past conviction or that they are known to the Garda, and did you know before hand and mention it in your vetting form? I'm curious as there would be a good few in my family that I have no idea about there history and didn't feel comfortable asking people I've never met there criminal record, thanks.

So I just put the inlaw down as normal,

During the interview in station they asked was I aware of anything etc I told him the truth I had heard rumours but nothing was ever factually said to me, But with the 8years I know them I haven't heard anything recently and that there married with 2kids now and it's very rarely I would see them as they don't live local. The inspector said that's grand and perfect. He was aware as it flagged so he had to ask me. I asked him if it was anything serious and would it come against me and he said nope it was well before my time known them and I had answered truthfully to his questions so he was happy enough

hey just wondering about the medical, my bmi was 31.5 so over 30 but they took my waist to hip ratio and it was lower, will I still be failed?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 103 ✭✭merlinengine

Hi mate, I don't know if there's a specific time, but I think the best thing to do is try to carry on your life as normal. Don't make yourself miserable by putting life on hold just to be on standby to go to Templemore. Many of us have put off important life events (career moves, moving or buying a place, going on hols etc etc) just in case we get that long awaited and overdue email. There's dozens of us left over from the 2024 campaign including myself so you're very probably not being singled out and not done anything wrong. The vetting is taking a scandalous amount of time. I discovered last week that the delay in vetting is not just for Garda recruits but also every profession that requires a vetting including teachers, special needs assistants and the like. The problem is more than likely with the vetting team, it's procedures and staffing levels rather than your background.

I applied back in February 2025 had to get laser done for my eyes is the station interview one of the last parts or when do people get called for that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2 agentaqua

Were both of your eyes outside of the 6/18 unaided standard or just one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6 TheRealChaCha

Both eyes. Heard back again from medical today and told me I'll need to explore my options i.e. laser eye so waiting to hear back and see anyways

So the next intake 262 could be either of these 2 dates 4th or 11th of May.

This is not 100% just based on some information gathering.

Anyone who has already received an offer for May intake might be able to provide clarity on this.
