I am starting this thread to discuss the Samsung S26 series, including specs, prices, and deals.

Rumors are that it will be available in late February 2026.

I've upgraded my phone every year for almost 10 years. I have the S25 Ultra. Phones don't change much year on year. Assuming there won't be any massive upgrade for my current model I think Samsung would have to offer a better upgrade deal this year. They have offered slightly less each year. Upgraded last year and lost the best feature the S pen had.

Looking forward to seeing the specs & deals but I think I might be a harder sell this year

Feel still a bit of life in my S24 Ultra

    Battery gone weak enough

Yea, I just change as I don't have many hobbies, so I have to change this year too 😅

Battery is still surprisingly okay in my S24 Ultra.

Gave my S22 to my kid and got the battery changed in the Vodafone store in Blanch and it's still going strong so that could be an option.

Will be sticking with my S24 for another year or two at least.

I dont game or do anything power sapping on it, so no need to upgrade.

I think phones have long since passed the stage where each new model brings something really different. They are just very tiny improvements now, so making it harder to justify spending money on upgrading.

Rumour has it price increases outside the US. I have the S25 edge and love it. I can get some days 7 hours but usually 6 SOT Don't see anything to upgrade to. I need a new laptop this year my Book 2 pro 360 is 4 years now and the cracked screen is getting worse. Don't think I would buy another Samsung laptop as the screens are terrible for breaking. The amoled ones and mine broke after 5 months for no reason.

I'll likely stick with my S24+, but if I do change, it'll be for the base S26

So I've had a crappy Galaxy A13 for a few years and finally decided to invest in a decent camera ie an S ultra

Some shops have new s24 ultras for €750 or S25 ultras for €950 , sounds like specs for s26 ultra camera not changing too much

Any thoughts on pros and cons of me getting either the 24 or 25 ultra new at this point or soon? (likely will wait until S26 ultra release so hopefully further reductions on the older ones)

I found S25U much better in battery, camera and performance, when compared to S24U.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 949 ✭✭✭Nickindublin

I had the S24U but not the S25U. If you plan to keep the device i would go S25U

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 115 ✭✭ImTiredOfItAll

Pro S pen is better on the s24u

Con two years of updates have already gone

Thanks for the thoughts on s24 vs s25 , likely when s26u comes out will probably try and pick up an s25u new

In terms of where to buy, are those "Fonefix" (not even sure if that's a real example but you get the idea ) etc shops OK for buying a brand new but older phone or would people suggest trying to buy via Samsung or one of the big retailers?

I've the S23 ultra since launch and will probably upgrade to the S26 ultra if I get a decent trade in price. I love the S23U but the battery life since moving to oneui 8 is horrendous so this is the main driver in my upgrade. I saw no reason to upgrade last year. I love the look of the new privacy screen update (if it materialises).

Let's just hope for decent preorder trade ins from Samsung.

There are dozens of phone shops throughout Ireland that sell these photos on the Grey market. You won't buy a new s25 cheaper than these stores. You can find them on Adverts and Donedeal. Phones are EU (but not Ireland) models. You will get a shop receipt for the 2 years parts and labour warranty. You won't get a VAT receipt though if this is important to you. I have bought many photos this way

Has anyone got a link to pre register?

I found it. The app Samsung shop allows pre registering. Usually they email you an extra discout on launch day. I'm guessing but I think its an extra €100 or at least last year it was

Had another look. Pre registration only gives €30 discount BUT double storage from 256gb to 512gb

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,453 ✭✭✭jones

What am I missing I signed up on the Samsung.ie shop but I never got any link. When I go into the Samsung shop app it just brings me up the Irish Samsung store and no sign of S26 Ultra 😔

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 115 ✭✭ImTiredOfItAll

I think you have to confirm your email address. Once you do this nothing happens until launch. Then you get a pre registration code that gives you €30 discount & double storage. As far as I remember the code came a day late last year. I think I'd ordered my phone on the day but code came the next day. I had to cancel original order and order it again to get the full discount

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,453 ✭✭✭jones

I did get the email confirmation when I did it the second time - which I didn't get when I did it first thing this morning.

What's the best method to purchase these? I remember last year when I was tempted for the S25 ultra it was cheaper ordering using a discount code then through the student discount option - which I thought was odd. Decided against it last year but reckon I'll be pulling the trigger this year if I get a decent trade in price.

I'm still shocked they haven't increased the battery size at all in 5 years, the Note fiasco has obviously burnt them badly (pardon the pun)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,266 ✭✭✭Keith186

I never bothered with the student codes myself but have still got decent deals the last few years, but it looks a lot more reined in with just €30 off, usually get the double storage at launh most years.

If you had a decent modern phone you would usually get more cash for them in Cex or just selling on adverts vs Samsung trade in. I'm hoping they will have the trade in a broken phone/tablet deal for like €150,.

With all the RAM price madness, I've heard the next models will cost a lot more, the likes of Samsung and Apple had already pre purchased stock for the upcoming models. So, if I get an ok deal this year I'll take it and skip a year or two after that if the prices are not worth it.

Its €30 off Buds when you purchase a phone, pretty shite

Think a new battery for my S24 Ultra is the best way to go for me

Excited to see what the S26 series will bring. But if the rumours are anything to go by it won't be much.. The fasted charging would be nice though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,066 ✭✭✭TheRona

Just like other years, if I can upgrade for around €200-300 outlay, then I will.

Same here but I don't have a good feeling about it. Think it'll cost a lot more this year and even worse in 2027!
