I just posted a video (see above) with the highly respected senior international affairs correspondent for The Guardian and The Observer Emma Graham-Harrison. Emma covers this. There's a youtube transcript available. The presenter mentions Emma reported on this last week.

So you're now criticising your own source that you were using as evidence?

You're not posting in good faith at all here Sean. You're happy to accept their view on SA but now they're not credible?

Hamas attacks across Israel today have killed at least 23 people, including two children.

Would there be outrage across the World if the above had happened? Something that is happening almost daily but by the IDF.

Unsurprisingly, a medic was also killed.

For sure, there is outrage amongst the general public but little coming out from leaders…

Israeli strikes have killed at least 24 Palestinians since Wednesday morning, according to Gaza's Health Ministry and reports from the Strip. An Israeli strike on a tent housing displaced Palestinians in al-Muwasi in southern Gaza killed two people, including a paramedic on duty, the Red Crescent said.

Perfect - let's make money out of the Gaza Genocide…

"Israeli officials have been examining potential economic opportunities tied to the reconstruction of postwar Gaza, Haaretz has learned, including the possibility of constructing a highway in Israel that would improve access to the Strip and increase the supply of electricity to Gaza."

The smuggling grift, on the back of a vulnerable population, seems more widespread than initially reported.

    Haaretz:
Israel's State Prosecutor's Office charged 12 people on Wednesday, including IDF reservistswith smuggling goods worth millions into Gaza.

On Tuesday, Haaretz reported that Bezalel Zini, brother of Shin Bet chief David Zini, will also be indicted in the case. According to the indictments, the suspects were arrested on December 19 while wearing IDF uniforms and attempting to smuggle a truck into the Strip.

Are the days of convicted terrorist and racist Ben-Gvir numbered? Hope so - one seriously odious man. Surprised the ICC didn't issue an arrest warrant for him - maybe they still will.

    Haaretz

    • In response to petitions calling for the dismissal of far-right National Security Minister Ben-Gvir, the High Court of Justice issued a conditional show-cause order, which requires that PM Netanyahu explain why he has not fired the minister, the first necessary step before it can order the premier to do so. Ben-Gvir rejected the court order in a post on X, saying it has "no authority. There will be no coup."
    • Last month, Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara urged the court to issue the order, saying Ben-Gvir is "abusing his position to unacceptably influence police activity," and that "his violations of the law and of explicit court rulings on this issue create a clear and harsh picture of repeated violations of the principle of the police's independence."

A definite twang of corruption in a lot of today's reports from Haaretz. Israelis even scamming their own.

    • Police have questioned Tomer Glam, the mayor of the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon, on suspicion of embezzling tens of millions of shekels donated to support the city's residents after Hamas' assault on October 7, 2023. A gag order placed on the investigation was lifted on Wednesday, with Glam's name being released for publication.
    • Mordechai David, a far-right agitator who is close to several members of Netanyahu's coalition, including Ben-Gvir, said he pays people to disrupt anti-government events through a registered nonprofit, according to a recording aired by Channel 13.
    • MK Efrat Rayten from the left-wing Democrats party urged the attorney general to dismantle David's nonprofit, as it is funding the persecution of journalists and public figures.

This guy's political career is over. Imagine being done for raising a tepid concern about a genocide! Locals must have got shot for asking what the Nazis were building the concentration camps for?

A super PAC linked to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) has made its first major venture into the United States midterm elections.

But this time around, the pro-Israel lobby group is not targeting a progressive candidate pushing to reset US-Israel policy, but a so-called “moderate” Democrat who tepidly questioned Washington’s unconditional military support amid the genocidal war on Gaza.

An Essex drama group supporting people with learning difficulties and disabilities was reported to the police by its local council after a performer mentioned Gaza during a recital of a list of genocides at a Holocaust Memorial Day event.

Harlow Council also withdrew support for the group, Razed Roof, and banned it from using council facilities following the performance, while the leader of the council appeared to accuse it of promoting “extremist narratives”.

“The council has a duty to take a firm and unwavering position to ensure that council-supported events and organisations do not promote hatred, intimidation, or extremist narratives,” Dan Swords, leader of the Conservative-controlled council, wrote in a letter, setting out the measures it intended to take against the group.

Essex Police confirmed to Middle East Eye that no criminal offence had been identified after reviewing footage and online material of the event.

Southern Lebanon is basically run by Hezbollah. Gaza is de-facto governed by Hamas.

This is what a pariah state does.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported receiving the bodies of 54 martyrs, alongside 66 boxes holding human remains, released by the Israeli occupation on Wednesday through the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Medical teams examining earlier batches documented that nearly all victims were blindfolded, bound with plastic zip-ties, and showed gunshot wounds between the eyes, clear indicators of execution-style killings.

Yes, but you used it as a source to confirm SA are steps away from a genocide.

Do you agree that Israel are steps ahead of SA as the source that you have also used confirms that they are?

Seems the chemical Israel has been spraying around Southern Lebanon is Glyphosate.

It will of course destroy vegetation and the livelihoods of farmers in the region. It will also make people ill.

So, Israel is waging chemical warfare. I wonder if they'll step up and use their nukes?

Not only that, there was an admission of not actually fully reading the posted reference.

Seems a tad disingenuous to use a source to back up a paper-thin argument then admit to not reading it. Then blaming others who posted the same reference. Then running away.

But it's a common enough theme.

Likud continue to push its stated aim of "from the river to the sea".

    Haaretz:
Ministers and lawmakers from Netanyahu's Likud party said they would take part in a tree-planting event organized by the Nachala settlement movement, which in posters shared on social media calls for "no surrender to Trump's dictates, no to an international Gaza, yes to a Jewish Gaza!"

Rename Palestinian villages and now rewrite the text books. Where is George Orwell?

    • Quds Network obtained official documents showing extensive revisions to the Palestinian school curriculum.
    • The changes affected textbooks from first through tenth grade across multiple subjects.
    • Revisions followed requests linked to the European Union and objections tied to Israel.
    • National symbols, historical terms, and references to prisoners, refugees, and Jerusalem were removed or altered.
    • Internal reports document more than 300 politically motivated curriculum changes.
    • Some textbooks saw revisions exceeding 30 percent of their original content.
    • The changes raise questions about external influence over Palestinian educational policy.

The final question was the charge against Samuel Corner of Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent. This was the famous incident where the security guards attacked the defendants with weapons and there was a melee as they defended themselves.

It is worth stating that the tabloid stories and right wing meme of “a policewoman’s spine was fractured” was always utter nonsense. As the defence closing speech stated:

The prosecution have said it was a fracture to the spine, a deliberate choice of words which although technically accurate, conjure up a break, a snapping of the spinal vertebrae. Maybe that’s what the jury had in mind until they saw the CT scan – it was actually an injury that wasn’t obvious. The doctors looking at the first X-rays didn’t identify any bone damage, nor in an MRI later.

The injury didn’t require surgery and Sergeant Evans was advised to take painkillers and do physiotherapy. The agreed facts state from medical evidence that you’d expect such a fracture to heal in six to twelve weeks, with full healing in three to six months, and no long-term consequences.

The unfortunate policewoman suffered no damage at all to her spinal cord. She had a possible hairline fracture to the wing of one vertebra. That there was any fracture at all was never definitive from the X-rays and MRIs. Whether it reached the bar of grievous bodily harm was disputed; how it was caused was disputed; and whether there was any intent to harm was disputed. The refusal of the jury to convict was completely consistent with the evidence heard in court.

This has driven right-wingers into a frenzy with completely false claims about the extent of the injury, and continued reference to a highly edited brief video clip.

Analyst Nasser al-Hidmi told Al Jazeera from Jerusalem that he believes “this raid was a publicity stunt” to demonstrate “the occupation’s sovereignty over the Al-Aqsa Mosque and that the new government does not bend to threats by the Palestinian armed resistance movements.

“There was an agreement between [Ben-Gvir] and Netanyahu – a discussion – that the raid would take place in this manner in order to both demonstrate sovereignty while also avoiding provoking the Palestinian people in Jerusalem,” al-Hidmi said.

“[The raid] happened at a time when there were few Palestinians inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and the visit lasted 13 minutes. All of this is an expression of Ben-Gvir’s fears.”

Ben-Gvir holds far-right views towards the Palestinians and has called for their displacement. He has repeatedly joined Israeli settlers in entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, which has led to confrontations with Palestinians in the past.

‘Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem with extremist settlers declaring Israel must have sovereignty over the holy site’
    July 27, 2023
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20230727-far-right-israeli-minister-storms-al-aqsa/

Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in occupied East Jerusalem was stormed by hundreds of illegal Jewish settlers led by Israel’s extreme far-right Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir this morning, Wafa has reported. The settlers entered the compound through the Maghrebi Gate with special guards and performed prayers and Talmudic rituals under the protection of the Israeli security forces.

“This place is important to us and we have to return to it and prove our sovereignty, ” claimed Ben-Gvir in a video message. “The unity of the nation of Israel is important.”

“Israeli soldiers prevented Palestinian worshippers from entering the mosque to perform their morning prayers at Al-Aqsa and kept them in the Old City alleyways leading to the holy site.
    ....
“Al-Aqsa Mosque compound is the third-holiest site in the world for Muslims. Jews call the area the Temple Mount, and there are plans to knock the mosque and other Islamic buildings down, including the iconic Dome of the Rock Mosque, and build a temple in their place.

PART 2 OF 2 continues here...

    7 OCTOBER 2023
HAMAS’ UNPRECEDENTED “OPERATION AL-AQSA FLOOD” WAS LAUNCHED INSIDE ISRAEL

    Middle East Monitor
    OPINION PIECE 2 YEARS LATER
'Two years of operation Al Aqsa Flood: How Sinwar accelerated the redefinition of world order'
    October 7, 2025
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20251007-2-years-of-operation-al-aqsa-flood-how-sinwar-accelerated-the-redefinition-of-world-order/

…. "What began as a defensive action to protect Masjid Al-Aqsa from Israeli intrusion has evolved into a transformative moment in modern history—one that has exposed the contradictions of the international order and catalysed unprecedented shifts in regional and global power dynamics.

"October 7 cannot be viewed in isolation. The action emerged from decades of Palestinian suffering under occupation—the expanding settlements, the siege of Gaza, the repeated attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the systematic dispossession of Palestinian land and rights. For years, Palestinians endured these violations while the ‘international community’ offered performative diplomacy and token gestures of support. The operation was not an aberration but a culmination of accumulated grievances against an entrenched system of oppression and terror.

"The Israeli occupation’s repeated incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque— Islam’s third holiest site—served as a particularly inflammatory catalyst. These intrusions, coupled with the expansion of settlements in occupied territories and the severe blockade of Gaza, created conditions where resistance became inevitable. What [Yahya] Sinwar recognized was that the status quo had become untenable, and that meaningful change would require dramatic action to break through international indifference.

STARRY: The taking of civilian hostages by Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups were war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The military arm of Hamas’ crimes on Oct 7, 2023, were abominable. And Israel’s HANNIBAL DIRECTIVE ordering the slaughter of their own citizens can’t be excused. For example, the IDF Military atrocities at the home of resident Pessi Cohen - Kibbutz Be’eri - where 13 Israeli hostages were murdered.

12-year old twins Liel and Yannai Hetzroni were two of the 13 victims. Liel was burned beyond recognition (ash and bone fragments) and could not be formally identified for weeks.

Courageous sole survivor Hadas Dagan of this IDF massacre gave oral testimony to what happened.

‘Army was ordered to kill Israelis on 7 October, defense minister confirms’
    By Asa Winstanley,
    7 February 2025
    https://electronicintifada.net/blogs/asa-winstanley/army-was-ordered-kill-israelis-7-october-defense-minister-confirms

“Roughly 250 Israeli soldiers and civilians were captured by Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups, in what they called Operation Al Aqsa Flood.

“Israel’s response was to reactivate and unleash the HANNIBAL DOCTRINE , extending it to Israeli civilians, as well as soldiers.

“Fire from Israeli helicopters, drones, tanks and even ground troops was deliberately unleashed, in a failed attempt to prevent Palestinian fighters from taking live Israeli captives who would then be later exchanged for Palestinian prisoners.

“Roughly 1,100 Israelis were killed. It is still unclear exactly how many of these were killed by Israelis and how many by Palestinians. One year on, an investigation by The Electronic Intifada found that at least “hundreds” were killed by Israel.

“Official figures, published for the first time last month, revealed that the Israeli Air Force fired 11,000 shells, dropped more than 500 heavy one-ton bombs and launched 180 missiles “during the fighting” on 7 October.

‘How Israel killed hundreds of its own people on 7 October’
    By Asa Winstanley
The Electronic Intifada 7 October 2024
    https://electronicintifada.net/content/how-israel-killed-hundreds-its-own-people-7-october/49216

We can conclude that during the Al-Aqsa Flood offensive:

    • Israel expanded the use of its murderous “Hannibal Directive” – designed to prevent soldiers from being taken alive as prisoners of war – by killing many of its own civilians.
    • The use of such “Hannibal” strikes are confirmed in a UN report published in June.
    • Fire from Israeli helicopters, drones, tanks and even ground troops was deliberately undertaken in order to prevent Palestinian fighters from taking live Israeli captives who could be exchanged for Palestinian prisoners.
    • At the initiative of the local Gaza Division, “Hannibal” was carried out right away: less than an hour after the Palestinian offensive began.
    • “Not a single vehicle can return to Gaza,” the division was ordered at 11:22 am.
    • By midday, an unambiguous order was given from the high command of the Israeli military (the so-called “Pit” headquarters, deep under Israel’s Hakirya building in downtown Tel Aviv) to invoke the Hannibal Directive throughout the entire region, “even if this means the endangerment or harming of the lives of civilians in the region, including the captives themselves.”
    • This bombing of Israeli captives by Israel continues in Gaza even today [article is dated 7 October 2024].
    • Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu admitted in a December meeting with released captives and families of captives that they had been “under our bombardments” in Gaza.
    • Hundreds of Israelis were likely killed by Israel itself in “Hannibal” targeting incidents as well as unintentional crossfire.
    • Israel has been engaged in an aggressive cover-up of its crimes against its own people.

    ….

“Hannibal was ordered from the top after the generals under the Hakirya building in Tel Aviv realized that Israeli soldiers and settlers all over the Gaza frontier region were being captured en masse.

“They wanted the captives dead as soon as possible.

“Israeli troops in the field had been trained in the procedure for years and immediately understood what they had to do.

HAMAS NARRATIVE ON OPERATION AL-AQSA FLOOD (18pp) - published in various media

    The Palestine Chronicle
    https://www.palestinechronicle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/PDF.pdf

"After 75 years of relentless occupation and suffering, and after failing all initiatives for liberation and return to our people, and also after the disastrous results of the so-called peace process, what did the world expect from the Palestinian people to do in response to the following:

♦ The Israeli Judaization plans to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, its temporal and spatial division attempts, as well as the intensification of the Israeli settlers’ incursions into the holy mosque.
♦ The practices of the extremist and right-wing Israeli government which is practically taking steps towards annexing the entire West Bank and Jerusalem into the so-called “Israel’s sovereignty” amid plans on the Israeli official table to expel Palestinians from their homes and areas.
♦ The thousands of Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails who are experiencing deprivation of their basic rights as well as assaults and humiliations under direct supervision of the Israeli fascist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
♦ The unjust air, sea, and land blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip over 17 years
♦ The expansion of the Israeli settlements across the West Bank in an unprecedented level, as well as the daily violence perpetrated by settlers against Palestinians and their properties.
♦ The seven million Palestinians living in extreme conditions in refugee camps and other areas who wish to return to their lands, and who were expelled 75 years ago.
♦ The failure of the international community and the complicit of superpowers to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state

STARRY: ^^^ I’m very much aware of propaganda from both Hamas and the National Zionist government.

"The documents show that lessons dealing with Palestinian history, displacement, and refugeehood were among those most heavily altered.

"Terms such as “forced displacement” were replaced with “migration,” while statements describing refugeehood as an injustice were rewritten to frame it as a broader regional issue.

I posted this story in a Trump thread:

On the morning of 21 January, Israeli authorities left eight Palestinian men at a West Bank checkpoint. Disoriented and cold, they were dressed in prison-issued tracksuits and carried their few belongings in plastic bags.

Hours earlier, they had been sitting with their wrists and ankles shackled on the plush leather seats of a private jet owned by the Florida property tycoon Gil Dezer, a longtime business partner of Donald Trump.

Dezer is also a Trump donor, friend of Donald Trump Jr and member of the Miami branch of Friends of the Israel Defense Forces.

Aircraft tracking data shows that both the 21 January and 1 February flights to Israel made refuelling stops at Shannon airport in Ireland and at Sofia airport in Bulgaria. Those stops may raise questions for the authorities in those countries about the legal status of the passengers transited through their territory.
