Tell everyone that you don't follow rugby without telling everyone you don't follow rugby.

This was a law change that came in ages ago. The idea being to not stop the the game for a scrum for a pointless reason.

Very weak attempts to tackle. he just trotted in for the try.

How many tackles did JGP miss tonight? And what was our win % from ball we kicked ourselves?

Totally disagree. Ryan was fully committed. Right side of the line.

The persistence with the kicking was an absolute joke.

a carbon copy of last years beating from France.

they hammered us for as long as they needed to. Went 30 points up with a BP and then sat back and let us get some consolation scores.

Again LBB scored the first try and we couldn’t do anything until they decided to take the foot off the gas.

At no stage was ever onside and was just allowed to help himself.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Awful rubbish from Ireland. Couldn't tackle to save their lives.

Casey needs to start over JGP. Poor comeback by Stockdale

no, his name isn’t Prendergast so you can’t point it out

Jesus that's the worst I've seen us in a decade.

Why did they look so much stronger and faster? They are human. Like us. But the difference was massive. Were we tired ? Few late nights in Portugal?

Have to say the team is in decline. Some new blood there but we're falling behind France and England visibly now. Should Farrell have been replaced after Lions? Was that decision correct? Maybe let a new guy build up to the next WC. Love to see O'Gara in the job but guess that won't happen. Must win our home games now minimum.

We were very poor but several awful calls added to their scoreline

Ah well, both Beirne asleep and Crowley tackling like a paper bag for the last try... But surely Sam's fault.

Line out good. Scrum good. Jgp rubbish but must have been the sole strategy. Harry is the 10 to try.

Lowe needed, as slow as he might be.

Have to say, think Sam has probably been one of our better players.

Few lads look a little old tonight. Beirne just looks he's lost a step for me. Still has phenomenal work rate.

I don't think we will see Stockdale again although TOB had a shocker too.

    JGP had a bad game.

Few lads from the bench really put their hands up. Ryan was excellent along with Timoney.

I'll leave the usual suspects at it to over react but I think this just got away from us a little bit in the first half and every bounce went the French way. Lost the kicking game badly which is very unlike us.

So, France definitely the better side, but so much of their momentum came from possession and territory they got from only one side being reffed all night. It's always frustrating watching games that Dickson referees.

Take aways: we need to kick less and stick with what we've been good at - direct, well supported carries, hitting the same defenders until gaps appear. We're also too slow to change approach when things aren't working.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 326 ✭✭Rayray98

Just tactically inept in that first half, France obviously were excellent but we just kept giving them back the ball over and over again and seemed to have no plan. It was only when they actually held onto the ball that they actually caused France problems.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,148 ✭✭✭uptherebels

They would need to be the same scenarios. It's not surprising that they arent

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,083 ✭✭✭✭adox

Ultimately men against boys. Irelands decline over the last 12-18 months seems worse than feared although the coaches also have a lot to answer for tonight with the tactics were abysmal but so too was most everything by the Irish team. Scoreline flattered the Irish.

Some absolutely mind boggling home decisions from the ref and tmo where in other sports their integrity would be questioned but ultimately it did little to influence the steamrollering this Irish team got.

Gibson Park was slow and kicked when we were not winning anything in the air. Time for Casey
McCarthy terrible too. Needs to be dropped form 23 for a kick in the arse

Crowley to Full back until Keenan is fit

How did we persist with box kicks when it clearly wasn't working?
