Does anybody know what this is? My dad found it when he was a kid about 70 years ago.

Get a few loops for your watch, before you lose it! 😀

Does the hole go through the stone?

I found something similar about 2 years ago. I was told by an archaeologist that it was a hag stone and it could sometimes be used like a hinge for a door or a gate. A piece of the door/gate would sit into the stone, letting you open and close it easily

Haha thanks for the watch tip....

Yeah originally I thought maybe something from the summer age, like a handle went through the stone and it was a weapon or tool... But the whole is two narrow to support

I think likely to be a sharpening stone at my dad suspected

Oh right, interesting. The hole in yours is a decent size though, I think mine would be too small.
