Thinking of getting one of those cheap chinese Diesel Heaters for heating a static caravan during the winter. If I do it I'm going to combine it with a heat recovery system to keep the caravan well ventilated. So what I'm interested in is good or bad experiences of using one of these? First off I want to decide if one of the tool box versions with everything build in would be a better option than the cheaper ones that need installation?

Wake me up when it's all over.

Yes, they are great. I have one for fishing, but if you want a good one, check out Vevor.

I got one from Vevor last Oct, to heat my hobbyshed and Im very happy with it. Easy setup and heats up shed to nice temp fairly quickly

A couple of years ago (maybe) I happened upon a tear-down video on YouTube that looked at a few different models, including the cheap Chinese ones. All that I can really remember from it was that there was very little difference in performance between the rock-bottom models and the kinda-half-decent-if-you-believe-the-packaging. The video is long gone out of my history, but you might stumble across it with a search.

Other than that, there seems to be a general consensus that even the cheapest ones work very well. There's very little to them, other than a chamber that burns diesel.

I installed one in my A class motorhome around 5 years ago, one of the Chinese ones, it has been very reliable so far, even when not used for 6 months, it fires right up without fail. I have a factory fitted gas heater system also, but the diesel heater gives off better heat. I would definitely recommend. Just don't go for the absolute cheapest one, although the unit itself will be the same, the fixtures, fittings and control panels will be junk on the cheapest ones.
