The three young lads in the BR were continually taking ball up as part of a one out pod last week, effectively playing a version of RL and yes Coombes is deadly in the 5 metre red zone but you have to get there first.

We could've started a back-row of JOD, Hodnett (who appears to be back this week) and Coombes.

We could've played Coombes in the 2nd row ahead of O'Connell.

We could've started Paddy Patterson ahead of Coughlan.

That's an interesting backline, would love to see Kilgallen cut loose on the pitch, he has the goods but I think a couple of poor performances earlier in the season cost him game-time. Daly at 13 is interesting, he doesn't have the wheels to be a top winger but 15 or 13 could be a good fit for him. Has become a very solid player in the Haley mould.

As I said. The strongest match day squad we have except for MAYBE hodnett who MAYBE is back and MAYBE available for selection

Kilgallen's initialy acceleration when he has grass in front of him seems ridiculously good so hoping for a good performance from him. Plenty of gas on the wings with him and Abrahams, but I'd be a little concerned under the contestables.

Hopefully Butler can put in a solid showing, and put both wings away during the game. Scotstoun isn't an easy place to go, but with him in situ during the week, instead of being thrown in due to injury during the warm-up, he'll hopefully be in a better spot to up his performance.

What would be good to see is that they have learned from the mistakes of last week.

Some kicking was poor last week. The wrong decision at the wrong time and sometimes the execution was off but that might be weather related. Butler letting the ball bounce, kicking dead at crucial time also.

One issue we have is that we are set up with pace out wide that we try to being into the game, but in poor conditions that’s not effective and easier to defend.

Win or lose - and ideally win if there was a marked improvement on last week that showed they have learned lessons it would be very positive.

Jack Oliver is named on the bench for Glasgow tonight.

It would be nice to scalp Glasgow tonight in fairness. A performance away from home could really give the team and supporters the lift they need to close out the season on a high point

A win tonight would go a long way to being top 4 at the end of the season.

Currently sandwiched between Ulster and Cardiff who play each other sat night a win for Munster could well put us a 7 point clear of ulster or 4 points clear of Cardiff.

It's been a weird season. Really strong start, but since that collapse in the Stormers game, things have been pretty shaky / mixed at best.

We're doing somethings well but other things awfully; and often what that is seems to change from game to game. A win 2nite would be a huge result, and hoopefully set up us nicely for the run-in. Remaining fixtures as follows:

    • Zebre (H)
    • Sharks (A)
    • Bulls (A)
    • Benetton (A)
    • Ulster (H)
    • Connacht (A)
    • Lions (H)

That Ulster game is looking like a big one. And the Sharks game is bound to be spicy….

Josh W is out. Donnelly starts, Ryan move to 17 and Alaalato comes onto the bench.

Good to see Edogbo, Quinn, Gleeson together again.
Edogbo has high standards to live up to after his debut and I hope the others put in a more aggressive performance.

    Big night for Evan O’Connell*

*I thought it was Fineen Wycherley who had pulled out

Look at Glasgow's attaching play Vs ours… they look fantasticand we look lost

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,040 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

That would be nice but (at half time) it's unlikely I think

glasgows attack (missing so many players) is very impressive.

the Glasgow number 5 is a serious athlete.

Butler putting in the kind of performance that gets you sold at the end of the season. Hopefully he can pull something out of the bag and have something to take from this

He's done, didn't think id see Wood on this earlier pre match

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,272 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

I would be surprised if Coombes hasn’t broken something. Your eye rarely swells that quickly unless something is broke

Great try in fairness by Munster. Wood looks very mature for a 19year old on his debut.

    jinxed him ffs

he has looked good though in all seriousness

He looks like a player that will have a successful pro career.

what exactly is it that Dan Kelly doesn’t have to be in contention for Ireland?

let's be honest we are just absolutely awful and going backwards. I don't know how we halt it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,272 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

unfortunatley errors and inability to execute took away the opportunity for a win tonight, and with better execution we could have put ourselves in a position to win it.

We haven’t given butler the opportunities to develop at this level this season or last and when he got his opportunity last week and this week he hasn’t been able to take his chance to get past JJ. He didn’t seem to have the ability to put any of his mistakes behind him tonight, something that’s crucial at this level, instead of forgetting about a mistake he added to them.

He might find himself being 4th choice now.

I can't see the yellow there, he left the scrum

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭leakyboots

Very costly missed touch by Wood, had a fine cameo otherwise.

Need to keep the young lads like him, Edogb-óg, O'Connell in the team for game time.
