Watching it recorded,is there only 1 Irish person?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,655 ✭✭✭Harika

Georgina was so obnoxious, when she asked if she could speak I blurted out "NO" at the telly.
The first episode was a masterpiece of how you don't do it.

I have to say I really enjoyed the episode. Very much in the "so bad its entertaining" category.

Watching episode 2 now. I see they havn't changed the age old trope of "supposedly" ringing them at 4.30am and saying the cars will be outside in 20 minutes.

Now ignoring the fact there is a shot of them leaving the house and getting into the cars supposedly at 4.50am and the sun is splitting the stone outside, but the unlikeable estate agent goes "I'm showering first". There's 10 men left and its inferred there is one shower between then. I dont see how you get 10 men showered and dressed in 20 minutes unless its one big communal shower.

I'm cautious of spoilers, but lets just say, the mens idea this week is SH!T.

The womens team is not great, but the mens… well you will see.

Think this is the worst bunch I've ever seen. Hardly a likeable person amongst them and all absolutely shambolic.

Ive been watching every year for the last ~13 years, and I feel like what you just said every year!

It is clearly heavily edited and I do feel some candidates are set up a little to fail. But in some cases they also give them just enough rope to hang themselves with.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,674 ✭✭✭dobman88

Ah we'd normally find someone to root for or see something decent in 1 or 2 candidates. But this year seems especially poor to us. So much so that I'm wondering if I'll even bother sticking with it

Well we're only two episodes in, it always takes a few weeks to meet the new group and decide who you like.

I do quite like the Irish guy. He was quite sensible in the first episode.

Another very entertaining and complete shambles last night.

Two of them didn't know how to boil an egg.

Candidate #1: How about 27 pounds?

Client: To serve a few cannapes? You must be joking!

    Candidate #2: How about 12.70?

    Client: Deal!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,228 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

Candidate #1: I dont eat eggs

Candidate #2: I dont eat cheese

Candidate #3: I can't touch pork for religious reasons.

PM: OK I'll put you 3 in the kitchen and by the way we are making pasta carbonara.

And the guy with the maths degree struggling to multiply by 1.5.

laughable, such idiots. The Irish lad is a bit of a dope. That Daniel lad was lucky his team won - he was hopeless.

Am enjoying it in any case….

The Apprentice is fast becoming unwatchable. The candidates’ employability, never mind their business skills seem questionable so far. I’m curious how rigorous the interview process to get on the programme is. What’s very grating too is the seemingly endless ineptitude which I don’t find entertaining & which the editing almost makes some kind of a badge of honour.

No sighting of Levi at all. Normally Suicre mentions when someone is ill, so is it possible he got completely edited out?

As for the episode I thought it wasn't the worst effort at this task (low bar admittedly). The food was reasonably well-presented, no major ingredient fubar. Hilarious maths g/kg interlude obviously. I do find it shocking how Londoners are willing to pay £10-£15 for small portions of lunchtime street food - not just to get on TV as even the regular vendors in Grenwich were over-priced imo. It breaks my heart to even pay €5 for a Spar roll.

As for the task, I'm not sure how Tam could be considered more responsible than Meghan for the £11.80 price. The idea that he should have brought the negotiations upwards again is nonsense and I'm fairly sure when someone tried that a few years ago that Sugar said it was a complete no-no and an embarrassment.

    Random.
Estate agent woman is annoying. And how can you not recognise Big Ben? I've never driven through Giza but fairly sure I'd know that's the pyramid.
I liked both PMs. Dan seems especially laid back in a non-Apprentice way.
Have to admit I wouldn't know how to boil an egg either.

    The search continues.

She is very annoying. And Ive only been to London once(not including flying through Stansted), but I'd recognise Big Ben any where. You are driving through central London, why be all surprised when seeing Big Ben?

She's also the one who told the others she had written a book, and then it turned out her, school board had written one and she had a "hand in it". I can't see her being long for this process.

I like Dan but he's far too laid back.

Have to admit I wouldn't know how to boil an egg either.

I know how to boil an egg, and there is a process, and you have to know the process. The problem wasn't so much the 2 women who didn't know how, it was the third one who was unable to properly direct them. Although one of them unable to fish one of the eggs out of the saucepan with the collander was funny.

I actually think Conor is one of the more competent ones so far.

Really weird decision to fire Tam over Megan I think.

Tonight's episode was as flat as the water they were selling. Having Sugar judge it took what little excitement there is out of it.

Surprised to see Levi back in the fold. A boring bunch, lacking the usual overconfident and deluded candidates

No treat for the winning team this year.

Not sure anyone is winning this year. It seems more like losing teams, just one lost better

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,228 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

I love in the intro they say "The best and brightest in British business competing for Lord Sugar's investment".

    The best and brightest? Really?

I am really surprised the banana-milkshake lookalike won.

Next week is going to be so cringe. I can't wait!

Sugar came from a background of selling crap hi-fi and putting a nice front end on it.

He coined the phrase "mug's eyeful" to describe the audio equipment that he was selling in the 80's.

Crap with a front end that looked more premium than it actually was.

Back to 2026, of course he would have liked that boxing ad over the other ad.

Most of his Amstrad ads from the 80's inferred that the products were miles better than they actually were.

in fairness Amstrads were a godsend and a massive step forward when I was in college. We had Olivettis too and I think they looked a bit fancier.

I thought the winning teams ad was great - way better than the usual dross they produce. I always find it mad that they go for these narrative arcs in ads that always end up super cheesy and not in a good way. It’s like they never saw an ad!

I have to say the Irish lad was a bit of a disappointment as PM.

Would have to wonder how sharp Sugar's mind is these days. Seems to be falling for a lot of scammy and AI stuff on Twitter recently including this one yesterday..

    Definitely Hippo for me.

How is that "falling" for an AI or scammy thing? Have you got any better examples?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,724 ✭✭✭Still Ill

Well, first of all, it's a false premise just for engagement because clearly it's neither a cat or a dog. And second of all he can't identify a hippo.

Just generally replying to/acknowledging stuff like that.

As an example of him not being sharp anymore, this second image is a bad example.
