Would the LightMyBricks kit be better than the lights provided by Lego? Would be very interested to hear about that.

I'm not sure ot be honest, I haven't even opened it yet.

I didn't go out on New Year's Eve. The taxi to and from town would have cost about 35 quid, so yesterday I said feck it and bought the DeLorean. At 27.99 in Smyths it looks like really good value.

Very nice, what's the ship above the endurance? I was watching a couple lego youtubers and they were showing off their haul they got new years day, a lot of them got the creel house and shop street, shop street looks very cool but very expensive, I still have my eye on the endurance ship.

That is the HMS Victory by Cobi. It was a pain to make to be honest, very repetitive making the hull and canons, and the rigging is very awkward compared to the Lego Endurance and Black Pearl. I always end up with very sore and sometimes cut fingers from Cobi bricks, you kind of have to fight with them unlike Lego that seamlessly slot together.

The Endurance is a great set! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. The Black Pearl is also very nice, I have mine in a display case with the Kraken attacking her.

I think my next set might be the Titanic, whenever there is another double insiders points weekend. I'm trying to talk myself out of the BrickLink Privateer Frigate Fortuna which goes on preorder next month.

I think the problem with the Endurance is not getting the exclusive GWP with it now. That's the problem with some of the expensive sets like the Star Trek Enterprise and the Stranger Things set, I find i might of gotten them at some point like the Endurance but as the exclusive GWP is sold out on them I probably wont ever buy them.

The bricklink Fortuna looks lovely, shame no sail cloths for it and price wise shame not a bit cheaper. I think sail cloths might be made for it at some point down the line apparently might be on Pick a brick lego site. Have the bricklink Outlaw Forest Den pre ordered coming out in March myself.

I built Rivendell over Christmas. One of my favourites sets ever. It's huge and the detail is so clever. I'd really recommend it. I also picked up the Balrog set on special off on Amazon last week so have it and Barad Dur waiting to be started at some point in the coming months.

I received the Red Bull Racing technic set for Christmas and started it at the weekend. I gotta stop using a black tray for the bits and making these kits at night time under artificial light. Either that or I'm getting old.

I'll be honest, a couple of the bags were an absolute bastard to assemble. Very fiddly in places and if you make a mistake, by the time you detect it, it would be easier to unravel the Gordian Knot. 🙈

Despite that, it's starting to look really good

Are there any gwp's due to be launched soon? I'm planning on buying the c3PO figure for a birthday present, wouldn't mind getting it in now as delivery can take time but I'll wait if there's a gwp about to be launched.

There's a Liondance GWP from the 19th on purchases of $150+ (or whatever the € equivelent will be). There's also double points on all sets coming from 29th so may be worth waiting for that (Also a 'Penguines in Love GWP from the 29th too, on purchaes over $80 (again, whatever the € will be)

Where did you hear about the double points? I know there's a botanicals double points for Valentines but couldn't find any info online for all other sets as I'm thinking of going for the Titanic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,662 ✭✭✭Princess Calla

Brilliant I'll wait, penguins in love sounds like my type of gwp. 😂

I have a promo calendar on Google docs that I happened to open recently (probably shouldn't have..) and it has the double points listed. It's been bang on for previous double points

I found a website I'd never heard of before the other day - retired sets.co.uk

Interesting to see some sets that are available there. Some are at horribly inflated prices though.

I'm hitting the stage where I don't need to save to buy more Lego. I need to save up for some more shelves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,530 ✭✭✭RGARDINR

Came out as a free GWP back in January 2023 with 190 spend. Was looking back on order i made there to get it. Some other GWP at the time. They don't overlap as good now.

Yeah i have cut down by a lot. Don't have the space really for lego now. So buying a lot less of it last 6 mths.

I bought Bumblebee from Transformers on Amazon over the weekend. Down to ~€60. God help me, I need to stop 🙈

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,119 ✭✭✭✭Tauriel

I had promised myself that after the Titanic, I would only purchase the Flying Dutchman and/or Queen Anne's Revenge, whenever Lego release them. However, Cobi recently announced that they are bringing back the Bismarck in the 1:300 scale and that is my Cobi white whale.

I wish I were a millionaire with a mansion to match my Lego addiction 🤣

I might press the trigger and get that. I'd love Bumblebee and some stormtroopers, on a shelf with a sign like speech bubble.

Stormtroopers: These are not the droids we are looking for

Bumblebee: Dude, Im not even the franchise you are looking for.

Yeah space is a huge issue. Have tons of sets and only small space for them. Now nearly put of space for buying more sets so hence why cut the spending back a good bit. It's a lot below but might be your cup of tea when this is released on bricklink next month.

I actually talked myself out of getting it about a week or two ago. It would be better if it came with cloth sails and to be honest, the deciding factor came down to that I would prefer to keep collecting the POTC ships and the Cobi WWII ships over this. Also, very expensive for what it is and compared to the cost of the Endurance and the Black Pearl.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,879 ✭✭✭bennyx_o

I hit that stage a while ago. I've a backlog of 50+ sets to make (off the top of my head 911 GT3 RS, Bugatti Chiron, Lamborghini Sian, Ferrari Daytona, Land Rover Defender 90, Steamboat, Italian Riveria, Gameboy, Batwing, TV Series Batmobile, Batman forever batmobile, AC Cobra, Mansell's Williams, Senna McLaren, Trevi Fountain, Ferrari F1 car, Mercedes F1 car, Mclaren F1 car, All the F1 speed champions, loads of other speed champions, bumblebee, orient express) and almost finished the Pacman arcade

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,668 ✭✭✭davetherave

Yeah, I'm the same. Too many sets at the top of the wardrobe, no display space. The Big McLaren F1, McLaren Senna, Apollo 11 Lunar Lander, Star wars Trench Run diorama, I think the Mandolorians ship is there as well. I have been very good though, I haven't bought anything big since August, and even then it was only the little F1 mini cars.

I have an attic full of sealed sets, easily 300+ from over the years. Some have doubled or even tripled in value since so it's going to be tough opening those boxes when I actually have the space to display them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,299 ✭✭✭Jacovs

    **** all of you…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,530 ✭✭✭RGARDINR

I am in same boat. Had to open a lot of sets to make more space in the eves of attic. Just put them into storage containers to make room for more space to buy more. I know sets doubled and tripled in value but as never going to sell them I could get over it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,177 ✭✭✭✭Heroditas

I'm going to show @DaveNoCheese and @RGARDINR posts to the better half and show her I'm not that bad! 🤣
