He, like many Americans, carry guns without thought. It presumably is an extension of their penis but nonetheless, it is completely and absolutely legal.

Pritti's gun had little to do with events. ICE were already physically abusing him for no reason before they became aware of it. It was simply a good excuse for them to step their bullying up a few notches.

Proper law enforcement would ask a suspect if they were carrying a weapon and then search them. This is not what happened - what happened was a group of untrained thugs got an adrenaline rush of excitement and allowed themselves to become even more feral, knowing that they are pretty much beyond reproach legally.

The very fact that day after day they can do what they want is because their superiors do not stop them (and those ordering the superiors aren't stopping them!). When something happens, they know that Trump and Noem have their backs and will be out telling the media ASAP about how the agents are doing such a great job despite domestic terrorists attacking them. ICE agents have effectively been given permission to do everything they're doing. What makes it even worse is that you have MAGA supporters (including those on here) not condemning the abhorrent and treacherous acts by ICE & the administration.

A Point of interest, . I am not an American but I know from all the media sources down the years that there is a gun culture where everybody has a right to bear arms - except , I assume , individuals under a certain age and maybe there are other categories. I understand that each state may have their own ‘bye- laws’ with regard to type of arms allowed, safe storage of weapons while in one’s house , number of weapons allowed to be owned. Per individual, etc,

"I've been to new York once under a previous president who was democrat. "

    Uh-huh.

And... Was that democrat stoking tensions with his private army and was that private army murdering people? Seems like a pertinent question to ask, if you're trying to compare like with like

"They can't have it both ways"

I think my friend, you'll find they can and regularly do have it both ways...

    Remember these two?

"You can't brandish guns at a protest"

Following from post 47175 - I pressed wrong key- So because of the right to bear arms and that one can carry , for example, a legal revolver in an upholster while out and about , then your typical adult would expect - including all government agents who bear arms and MOST ESPECIALLY ICE AGENTS - that the typical adult that you might come across could have a legal arm on him

Therefor it should not have come as a surprise to those ICE thugs that Pretti had a firearm on his person.

When state security officials are arresting anyone , no matter what country, the VERY FIRST THING that they do, from my observation, is to FRISK that person first to make sure that they have on weapon on them , be it a gun , a knife, baseball bat, jemmy bar or whatever. This is what those ICE THUKS did immediately got Pretti down on the ground because this gun was in the hands of an ICE THUG within seconds of the grounding

In my own circle I know 4 different people who have cancelled planned trips to USA next year . All say the same they would not set foot in the country at the moment . I personally am planning to go to Canada next year and will absolutely make sure my stopover is not in US .

I am guessing that will not be unusual among Irish and Europeans next year

Do you actually know any Americans living there now? I've a big wing of my family in New York. One of my great aunts married an American in the 60s and had kids and grandchildren over there. So there's about ten of them now. They're all genuinely worried about the future of the place, particularly for the future of the grandchildren.

I've two American friends here who travelled over temporarily but have decided never going back. One of their mam's actually just relocated to Germany to get away from everything going on.

We were meant to go to New Jersey in July for a friend's wedding and my wife's ESTA was denied believe it or not.

In work last week I'd a non binary American student in their early 20s knock on my door - they'd travelled from the US with a friend for ten days to visit all the universities to see if there were any courses they could onboard with as they honestly didn't see any future for themselves in the US.

It's not hyperbole and it is genuinely negatively impacting people's lives.

As the saying goes “You are better off inside the tent pis - ing out than outside the tent pis-ing in”. So I think that Governer Martin should go to meet Trump on Pat’s day

I am not American either and have not lived there so 🤷‍♂️, but that is my understanding, yes. I gather there's a big variance in the US laws on it by state (which presumably impacts local "gun culture" of each one [if that's okay term to use!]) but don't think any of them would be as restrictive as ourselves, or the UK.

I can't believe people are commenting on this issue having zero knowledge of what happened. Admittedly I do listen to CNN before bed and in the morning, but it was also covered today on RTE and Newstalk, and every newspaper is covering it. And still, people are coming on here going "Well he shouldn't have provoked them/Shouldnt have been brandishing his pistol/Shouldn't have had flapper jacks for breakfast"

It's not even the point, anyway. The best defence that can be come up with on this board is that you shouldn't interfere with them because you don't know what they'd do. That might hold water in dealing with criminal elements who are behaving criminally, but these are supposed to be agents of the state. The standard should be a bit higher than that.

Every defence is effectively an admission that ICE in their current form are a poorly trained rabble at best, and a government sanctioned posse of thugs at worst, where terror is a feature, not a bug.

If ICE deem that people are interfering with them in the course of their business, then arrest them and prosecute them if needs be. Don't riddle them with bullets in scenarios where video evidence clearly shows those people were not actually presenting any mortal danger to the agents at the point they were shot dead.

I was recently offered an all expenses paid trip to Orlando to cover a conference for work and I turned it down. I won't be setting foot on American soil until the Orange mad bastard is out of office.

even if they threw in business class on the plane over i'd demur too.

Pretti provoked nobody, he was murdered in cold blood for standing up for a woman whom ICE was harrassing.

You can see Trump's Administration is under serious pressure over this, and are starting to cave.

Gone is the rhetoric of Pretti being a terrorist and now the line is Full Investigation to happen.

Gone is Walz and Frey stirring up the state to resist Trump.and ICE, and now its Trump had a great chat with Walz and everyone looking forward to sorting this out.

Time for Trump to move on the next distraction for next weekend

It is not parts of major cities, it's the actual states.

You are just running off, be good.

I think he "provoked"them by trying to help the woman they bullied to the ground. The poor egos of those ICE thugs were hurt by that.

They immediately went in on him with pepper spray, piled on top of him just before pumping him with 10 bullets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,326 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

Not even standing up for her, he was just helping her.

I think the following is clear from the numerous videos.

*Pretti did not brandish a gun at any stage

*He neither violenly attacked ICE agents or violently resisted arrest

*He was trying to assist a lady who had been pushed to the ground

*He did not present any danger to the ICE agents when he was on the ground

I don't think bodycam footage is going to reveal any additional information apart from revealing any conversations and any interaction prior to Pretti being assualted.

What has yet to be revealed is how many shots were fired, how many agents fired shots, who fired the first shots and whether any shot was fired by the agent using Pretti's gun. The only slight mitigation for the agents actions would be if an agent accidentally discharged a bullet from Pretti's gun. It does not explain why he was shot ~ 10 times in the back.

From the analysis I have seen, it seems that no shot was discharged from Pretti's gun. Is this correct?

    Did someone shout gun?

If so many traveled to the U.S. in droves in 2025 how come it was the only country of 184 where visitor number fell compared to 2024 when they were expected to increase ?

A drop in visitor numbers that resulted in a decrease of visitor spending of $12.5 Billion compared to 2024 when globally tourist spending was up 6.7% in 2025 compared to 2024.

Yes,that was it.They were out of control but to be fair ,they were working for the mob and so mob behaviour seems appropriate.

    RIP another good man.

While I'm strongly opposed to widespread gun ownership, I find it ironic that the NRA, having run ads for decades arguing guns are needed to prevent a tyranny, thrice supported the election of this president.

I remember the ads they ran during the Blair government of the UK showing pro Fox hunting protests and presenting it as a sign of a country having lost its freedom. It said 'you think it cant happen here?'
