But that's the subtext here : they are trying to stop 'any' protests against the regime on the streets. It's all quite deliberate on their part, protest against the MAGA movement and government and you risk being gunned down.

Ernest Hemingway said it best. "There are many who do not know they are fascists but will find it out when the times comes.”

    That time has come.

Fado, fado when corporal punishment was dished out by RCC orders and their like-minded lay teachers, having your teeth knocked out was never a problem, free of charge.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

There is that ultimately higher question though of what one is willing to risk for what they believe to be the right thing to do. It's where law enforcement crosses the line between policing and intimidation where you tend to get problems. We've had it here, where armed British state forces militarised the landscape in the North (and the rest of Ireland, further back in history) in ways that were heavy-handed and inviting of community resistance. I've said it before but ICE as a body seems somewhat reminiscent of the old Ulster Defence Regiment in the North — seemingly little more than an armed militia of people with strong biases leaning towards certain political views that make them unsuited as a law enforcement body in places where their biases taint their behaviour towards the local population.

And of course, that seems to be the whole point of ICE in the first place: a somewhat performative imposition of this biased armed group on local populations which is designed to be good viewing for those in Republican heartlands and also designed to create a narrative of lawless out of control Democrat states / cities. And from what we can see, they are (on the kindest interpretation) not adequately trained to deal with the charged situations they are being sent to create — not to mention that their biases are getting the better of the professional standards they are ideally supposed to maintain. And the same seems to apply to Border Patrol too, whereby if the shooting itself didn't tell you enough, the utterly contemptible lies being told by Bovino about the event certainly do.

People are responsible for their safety in their interactions with law enforcement, but law enforcement must abide by the general principle that doing crazy things that invite resistance will ultimately lead to resistance — and its negligent at best to dream otherwise. And I'm not aiming that at you, I mean in general.

Why would anyone carry a gun in the US when at risk from an overreaching government infringing on their freedoms?

It's exactly the purpose of the 2nd amendment according to the Trump-supporting NRA and the right to bear arms is always staunchly defended when their school children are being killed by some nutter.

Comply with ICE very well then, they were inserted to cause trouble so if they dont engage protesters on street they will go in to public or private buildings and find obstructers there are no operations objectives, communication with state agencies or numbers on illegal detained but there are 2 US citizens dead

A man was disarmed possible chemically disabled and after shot 10 times is a citizen and a health worker.

Any country ex NK Russia China maybe, Iran

Would be a nation wide shut down i wonder if they go for a mixrace would it spark something bigger and they are been badly careful.

so leave your family, your neighbours, your friends and Co workers to the “tender ‘mercies” of ill trained thugs who are acting with impunity and often snatching up US citizens. Way to go ???

If it keeps going this way, what would Minneapolis residents be left to do? Peaceful arbitration isn't going to work if the Trump administration says this people were a danger to ICE lives when there is very clear video evidence to the contrary. Doubly not if the Trump admin is insisting on his loyal FBI to handle the cases and not giving local law enforcement. The corruption couldn't be more obvious.

Still, it seems like an escalation is what Trump and co. want, so there's that.

Without the video anyone could be forgiven for believing it was a soundbite from Pierre Laval who like Vance was the second most powerful member of another right wing authoritarian fascist regime, the Vichy government 1940 - 1944.

It didn`t end well for Laval. Tried found guilty of treason, and executed by firing squad.

One way is to clear Minnesota of the actual lawbreakers, the combined group of federal agents from different agencies: I.C.E., Border Patrol, Bureaus of Prisons operating under the D.H.S supposedly to find and deport illegals aliens so that the city can return to what passes for normality from Trump actually using the city as a battleground to subdue the democrats running it and the state.

I am wondering who is watching out for illegal aliens entering the U.S with I.C.E agents absent from duty at the ports of entry into the U.S and the Border agents absent from the U.S borders.

The reality is the MAGA nuts want only Trump supporters to be allowed carry guns and everyone else forbidden from doing so. It's a bizarre situation - they don't really want to be part of the US or abide by its constitution, just be part of Trump's private fiefdom.

CNN just said that Alex Pretti's gun had already been taken away by the Feds before he was shot.

Reports that Noem wants DHS to do the investigation instead of the FBI.

New Emerson poll rating the Cabinet members. Noem is the least popular by 44-41. Rubio is most popular.

Also Fed Chairman Jerome Powell is popular 45-27.

    RFK has net approval.

I think the image of a pistol with one [1] magazine next to it lying on a car seat is supposed to be the pistol taken from Alex BEFORE he was shot. Presumably the car is a federal agency vehicle where the pistol was placed for security A.S.A.P after the shooting. The photo seems to conflict with the federal story that Alex had two [2] magazines for the pistol with him. The action is pulled back on the photo pistol indicating there is no magazine in the pistol.

It's strange seeing all these Trump supporters coming out saying that people shouldn't get in the way of police or federal officers and that simply protesting is asking for trouble.

Remind me what their POV was after Jan 6th? What was it that Trump said about Babitt?

Also, it's alarming how easy they lie. Patel was on Fox saying that Alex had a gun and had threatened law enforcement. When asked if the gun had been examined, he stated he couldn't comment as that would be to pre-judge any investigation

I would be more inclined to question why an administration has this dangerous, armed to the teeth trigger happy mob on the streets with immunity from any crime including murder, than look on someone being legally in possession of a gun that he didn`t threaten any of that mob with as a provocation for murdering him.

His only "provocation" as far as that mob was concerned was as a nurse going to the aid of a women they had assaulted for which he was repeatedly pepper sprayed, dragged to the ground, beaten by that mob, who only then discovered he was carrying a gun, removed the gun and then shot him eleven times while he was lying stunned and defenseless on the ground.

There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

    This is what they want.

To those still defending Trump & Co here is more evidence of their lies.

I wish someone would just ask Trump, Noem, Patel, Lievett or anyone in the administration.

"If Alex Pretti had been in the same situation in another country, abiding by their laws, and their federal agents had responded in the same way and he ended up dead by their hands, would you just accept it?"

According to RTE radio news, Trump has apparently decided to send Tom Homan [AKA the border czar]to Minnesota. The purpose will be made official at some time in the [hopefully] near future, maybe even a meeting with the Governor and the Mayor.

Some of the comments on that thread tell you all you need to know about America these days, absolutely shocking

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,716 ✭✭✭skimpydoo

    The truth often is.

The bit about the officers counting bullet holes is very difficult to stomach.

Not to mention the overlap of those saying that people should comply with orders, yet completely objected to wearing a mask during COVID

Alex Pretti was complying. He was face down on the ground, disarmed and subdued. He wasn't resisting.

He still got 10 bullets fired into his back.
