Getting 50mph gusts here in Antrim. Rough night. There was a warning for rain, but not for the wind.

Ditto here in Dundalk Gonzo. Yet another night of wind and rain. No sign of this current weather pattern changing either which is bad for the east coast. If we ain’t gonna get snow, bring back a westerly wind setup and lows zipping through with transient ridges. At least with that you would get a bit of brightness and dry days now & again.

Still pouring rain here in Meath, I've never seen such a week of rain in my life, everywhere is waterlogged.

The pond at my gate entrance is over an inch deep and wellies will be needed to walk out of my property tomorrow.

The current lingering low centred over Dublin looks like a special delivery from the Night King.

To echo what has already been said, what a terrible week.

    Dublin Apt 06-06 data below.

57mm of rain, 1.3 hrs of sun, around 7-9C every single day with one slight frost. Not an exceptional amount of rain but it feels like it's been non stop raining. There's not many weeks I've seen rain falling this consistently on a regular basis.

The joys. GFS projecting another ~60mm of rain here for the week ahead.January right now is on 76.3mm (00-00) at Dublin Apt. Another 60mm would put it as one of the wettest on record. The wettest January is 1948 with 171.4mm but this is 53mm wetter than the second wettest! The second wettest January was 2016 with 118.4mm so it would be the wettest January of my lifetime if this verified. Not what I had on my bingo card at the start of this month.

It's amazing how long the Jetstream has been travelling so low and yet there hasn't been a flake of snow to tap into. For snow lovers it's like having all the ingredients for a lovely fat delicious cake but can't find a bowl to mix them in.

It hasn't been such a bad week here in Tralee. I guess we are more used to a lot of rain than you guys over east but while there has been rain this week, it's been more showery with decent dry spells. That's how it is today so far. Wet earlier this morning, drying and brightening up nicely now. I'd like it colder as I'm a winter fan, but some folks here are welcoming the mild touch of spring in the air and the stretch in the evenings.

A rainy week here. A lot rain that plagued the east headed NW so ended up getting it. Malin and finner dodged the worst of it at times.

    Another wet week ahead

Unsettled conditions will continue through the next seven days and it will be wetter than average for most of the country as a result. Accumulations will generally be between 130% and 300% of average. However, accumulations will be closer to normal near western coasts.

Nice calm day in Offaly. Started bright bit clouded up but no rain. I must say this has been one of the most boring winters ever for notable weather. Looking at the charts, well GFS, it utterly uninspired me yet again. Any sliver shown of proper weather is predictably snuffed out quickly. Roll on spring.

stunning day in west cork, blue skies and about 9 degrees. Making the most of it before this weeks wetness

It finally stopped raining this morning in Celbridge. Over 29mm yesterday and pretty much continuous rain over the last week. Windy too until today. The place is like swamp. Lots of flooding and more to come it seems.

rainfall is below normal throughout the country for January, because Dublin had a wet week you’d think the country was underwater.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,321 ✭✭✭Dazler97

Nope I wouldn't have liked being under it that's for sure , I got some rain out of it the main bit moved to far north West to hit here , yesterday was a rotten day just cloud and feeling rather cold , yes we may be in January and winter but I'm so used to the warmth mild weather we had last year haha

my place is like a swamp as well, hate to think what it's going to be like by Wednesday with an intense washout all Tuesday.

Dark and dreary with light rain on and off all day again today in north Dublin, the wind has died down a lot and I only got moderately wet when going for a walk so an improvement on the rest of the week at least

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,533 ✭✭✭Elmer Blooker

I should have said throughout ‘most’ of the country. The only Met E stations I can find above normal rainfall are Johnstown Castle, Cork and the three Dublin stations and even these stations aren’t that much above normal. The last week has been bleak along the Leinster coast.

That is a lot giveitholly, just had 86mm this month so far here in Kerry .

A few showers today here near Tralee with spells of sunshine and felt relatively mild after all the cold days getting up to 9.4C.

    0.2mm so far

giveitholly must be in far south of the county as only 50mm recorded at Gurteen so far this month.
