Hi all, my wife is looking to change from a 2019 Micra to something newer, slightly bigger. I’m open to suggestions but max spend €23,000 (including trade in) so hoping for maybe 2023 model. She’s considering automatic, maybe hybrid. Bit vague but any ideas please? Thanks you!

If she wants to go electric she would get a brand new Leapmotor TO3 or a BYD Dolphin Surf for that money.

I’ve been offered a. Nissan Juke 232 with very very low mileage (3,500) for about 24k. Anybody know any issues with this and anything to be aware of considering such low mileage please?

missed out on that car. Would a Puma Peteol Hybrid be much better on fuel than a normal Petrol? Any cons to the hybrid?

No, wouldn't be much better. It's not a hybrid. It's a mild hybrid.

Becareful with the label "hybrid" as it's used by car manufacturers alot these days and means different things.

Puma is a petrol car with a mild hybrid system which like most mild hybrids, is basically where there is a very small battery/motor that takes energy from the car's regenative braking and stop/start system. This energy then assists powering the car's other systems such as air conditioning and heater matrix that would have traditionally been run off the engine. This helps improve fuel economy. Most mild hybrid cars will not drive the car on electric power.

Puma is highly fuel efficient. Mid 50 mpg isn't difficult to achieve.

It also features cylinder deactivation (where it actually runs on 2 cylinders) when not under heavy load.

I had a puma for 3 years, great little car to drive and look at . Wasn't the most economical though. we averaged about 8l/100kms doing a lot of mixed driving. Still an excellent car and I would happily recommend them

We are on our 2nd now.

Previous Juke was a 2020. No hybrid stuff (current Juke one of the few non-hybrid options left) , straightforward to work on.

Only issue we had with previous one was the Radar scanner unit packing up after 2 years, sorted under warranty.

Had one as a hire car last year, found it hard to judge distance to the front because of the high front wings. Do you get used to it or is it only me ?

Has the Puma got the 1.0 turbo engine?

If so, you might want to look that up on Google. Known issue with timing belt.

Zero issues with that engine nowadays.was a older variant that gave trouble from pre 2018 I think

In a bit of a predicament!, deal agreed on the new one with the old car as trade in. I have an engine light come on in the old one, should I tell them?

The Ford 1.0 Ecoboost engine used in the Puma and other models did have a timing belt up until 2018 (using the 'wet belt' setup) to cure the persistent problems, they replaced it with a timing chain in 2018.

Issues still persist however as the mechanism for driving the oil pump still uses the wet belt setup.

You are incorrect. The Puma has ALWAYS had a timing chain.

The oil pump is wet belt driven, but they don't fail.
