Long time ago, it was great back then.

It's kinda weird because the game is bigger than ever now. I suppose they all use the large social media sites.

Bit off topic but I see two of the top RB prospects in draft this year played in the Aviva a few years back… Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price.

Got me thinking who were the most successful NFL players to play college matches in Ireland….

    • Theo Riddick, Tyler Eiffert and Manti T'eo played for Notre Dame in Aviva in 2012
    • Chris Godwin and Mike Gesicki played the Croke park game in 2014
    • Malik Washington who caught a few TD's for Miami this season played in the "free beer" game in 2022
    • Auric Estime, now of saints was the lead runner for ND ahead of Love and Price in 2023

Anyone I've missed? Anyone on defence that's notable

Fairly sure Joe Alt is the highest draft pick (5th in Rd1 last year) to have played in Ireland recently- played in 2023 ND and Navy game at left tackle- has made the Pro Bowl roster this year despite only played like 6 games and now out for season with ankle injury. Blake Fisher played in that game too at right tackle, went 2nd round to Texans last year, been a bit hit and miss but started at left tackle for them against Chargers recently.

To the Ravens fans on here, what's the thinking behind getting rid of Harbaugh?

Was really surprised that this happened TBH. Had heard the talk but assumed it was just internet talk.

As a Giants fan, I am looking at him as being the #1 HC Candidate and from the outside perspective, the Ravens are always competitive and a well run organisation. (Opposite of the Giants!)

Not a Raven's fan, his brother manages the team I follow though and it seems from articles I read a decision by the owner Steve Bisciotti rather than from the front office. Rumours that Lamar and Todd Monken haven't got along and Harbaugh wouldn't get rid of his OC but probably the reality is that the owner felt that they had plateau'd under John Harbaugh and change was needed. Personally think they might go for Jesse Minter or Chris Shula to replace him.

He only 63 and clearly wants to keep coaching, he would be a great hire for the Giants though given the interest from other teams, would he insist of maybe Scheon going and bringing in a GM he has a prior relationship with? I doubt many Giants fan be sad to see Scheon go, looks like he is desisted there

Matt Milano was with BC in 2016, Skoronski from Northwestern was a first round pick in '23 I think it was.

I'll think of more later. I haven't been at many of the more recent games but was at almost all of them up to 2016.

Just remembered, I'd say the biggest name that ever played here would be Jerome Bettis. He played for the Steelers for years, without checking I just know he's in the HOF and I'd be confident he was first ballot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,940 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

He was wasn’t a first ballot. He was eligible in 2013 and got in 2015. Like you’d I’ve said he was a first ballot

2013 New Pope , Seahawks lose 3 regular season games and make it to superbowl.

2025 New Pope Seahawks lose 3 regular season games ………….

Mike McDaniel is out in Miami.

There was a report the other day that 7 teams reached out to Harbaugh's agent the day he was fired, despite there being only 6 other teams with a head coach vacancy.

I guess we know who team number 7 is.

I'm not sure it's finished yet. Zac Taylor and Dan Quinn could be out as well.

If Willis had to wait you'd have to assume Kuechly will.

Manning will get in but doesn't deserve it. Suspect Gore won't but he does.

Manning won two Superbowls and he played decent in the first one and really well in the second one. He's like the total opposite to his brother who didn't perform in either of his Superbowl wins but still got the MVP for the first one. Dominic Rhodes should have got that one.

A QB with two Superbowls is guaranteed to be in as a first ballot.

Hell of a record he goes out with, 13 playoffs, 8 divisions, 3 championship games, 2 super bowl appearances with one win and never a losing season. In a league that is custom designed to create parity and prevent any kind of dominance, that last stat is incredible. Belongs in the hall of fame first ballot.

Same as the Ravens, they might get lucky now or they might learn what the coaching carousel is like.

I find it incredible that the next coach will be only the Steelers fourth since 1969.

    Noll

    Cowher

    Tomlin

    Remarkable really

I love the way the steelers let their coaches do their thing and give them time to build something. And they don’t fire them, they let them step down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 42,780 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I fancy Tomlin will get the Falcons job if he wants to stay in the NFL. He might go the college route, the Penn State job hasn't been filled yet. It's only about 150 miles from Pittsburgh.

This kinda reminds me of Andy Reid leaving Philly. Slightly different in that Reid was out of contract and it wasn't renewed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,490 ✭✭✭Guffy

They'll have to trade for him though.

What happens if the steelers appoint a HC and Tomlin says right I'm back. Would his contract then begin to wind down?

Harbaugh wasn't long out of work. He has the Giants job.

That's a huge coup for the Giants. It's a move that will change the face of the franchise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,490 ✭✭✭Guffy

    Probably.

Still wonder on the contract, like with the saints holding on to Payton's contract. If he declared himself back while the saints had a HC would the contract have continued to wind down again?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,213 ✭✭✭✭ArmaniJeanss

I suspect that such a nuclear option by a coach is probably not explicitly catered for in contracts.

So it would likely go to NFL arbitration, so effectively would be decided by a Roger Goodell proxy/appointee.

You got to feel for him. Built that team out of the gutter and only for some 13 seconds of Mahommes magic they would've won the superbowl.
