I know the man is ga-ga but the whole statement is one of his most batsh1t yet….can we send the guy from N.Ireland back in to tell him he can’t selectively impose tariffs on EU member states….

When was the last time you exported commercial goods to the US ?

Time for the EU to tell the Paedophile to fcuk off and ramp up trade with Canada, China etc.

Ireland would probably still vote against it however.

Can't he just tariff goods that are most valuable to them 8 countries so they would be hit harder for example wine or champagne, that will affect france but not so much other eu countries that are not big producers of said goods.

Trump's actions today in declaring Tariffs on UK, Denmark and other EU states must be seen for what it really is.
It is a direct attack upon NATO and the collective security approach that was adopted with that treaty.

It is a knife between the ribs of the western alliance and the reliance upon the USA as security backstop.
It also should for the EU, bring article 42.7 of the Lisbon Treaty to the fore.
When the EU adopted a position that saw it adopt a single foreign policy?
It believed that it's regulatory and trade mass, would allow it to direct and impose it's(our) foreign policy aims without recourse to military action.
It's a lovely idea but, it's one that fails in the face of American imperialism and the emergence of Russia & China in driving multi-polarity and geo-political chaos.

Europe must ensure that we are robust in defending the territory of our constituent nations and in Greenland in particular, we must ensure that the decisions in Nuuk are supported as being a constiuent part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

The return of might makes right as a constituent part of US foreign relations?
Cannot be accepted and if the US wishes to continue on that path?
Then expel them from Europe, deny them basing rights, access and overflights.
Exercising global power without those European bases becomes a lot harder for the US.
It also of course, plays into the hands of China & Russia in fragmenting the "West".
But fragmented or not, we cannot allow whatever the US has descended to, be the hegemon.

This is the ultimate of European unity and of what the EU should be.
A leader, independent and strong minded in support of liberal democracy?
Or a vassal, at the heel of an ever more Imperial USA.

Seems like a desperate move by someone that is fresh out of ideas. In what world would this lead to the EU countries not supporting Denmarks sovereignty of Greenland?

Putin and China must be licking their lips looking at this sh1tshow.

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

It’s certainly forcing people to the table. Trump doesn’t want Greenland as another US state- he wants to rape the land of minerals and resources and yes he will probably expand the US presence in the country too- but the people? He’ll want them out- most likely to Denmark - it will be purely a military run base, not a country with citizens.

His tarrifs game with much of Europe will just drive us further away from America and into new markets- but Europe will definitely suffer short term - maybe for next 10 years. NATO also looks dead in the water - we (Europe) can’t keep a military relationship going with a country it doesn’t trust.

Every European citizen can vote with their feet and refuse to visit America (unless for business purposes) - while it won’t make a huge dent in the American economy it will hurt - it’s a token gesture but I’m of the mind of do what’s in our control and lawful - it’s then up to European governments to work out how they will respond . He’s a tyrant and bully and there’s plenty there to impeach him now- but the American political system on both sides are cowards and full of greed - they’ll do nothing - in fact, a 3rd term for Trump is very likely - potentially America on a war footing or state of emergency in place will get him to extend his second term indefinitely

So how is le pen, Jordan bardella, farage , gert wilders etc reacting to this? They’re all supporters of trump yet he’s now putting tariffs on their countries because they don’t support him stealing Greenland. I know they’re bullshit merchants but how exactly are they dealing with?

He had Greenland and Denmark at the table before the tariffs. His tariff game won't make Denmark or its allies agree to give up Denmarks sovereignty of Greenland.

Trump has set himself up for failure if he wants to use economic tools to gain ownership of Greenland.

I think the EU can just sit on this a bit.

He always backs out and claims a victory of sorts, I think this will be the case again.

The tariffs are, as they always have been, a tax on Americans, not Europeans. They will foot the bill, as they have done since the start of this.

It’s another game of checkers for Trump, and chess for the EU. He really isn’t a great or efficient negotiator, this is just another example of that.

Greenland if taken over by Trump will result in Greenland being treated like Puerto Rico and it will become an overseas American territory.

If he applies tariffs on the EU, Ireland will be tariffed. He can’t pick and choose one EU country over another, he still doesn’t understand what the single market is…

America is a little too big for it's boots.(bad saying but it's true) The world is far bigger than USA. Does the world have to revolve around USA. Can the rest of the world not trade with each other and let America self absorb itself.

Why do we need to deal with them. Yes they own all the major companies but to hell with them there are a lot of intelligent people in the rest of the world who can surely fill in the for the American companies we will no longer deal with.

    My 2cents.

Trump has been teasing Europe for years now- it’s clear he wants rid from a NATO perspective - I would agree, US needs to leave Europe if NATO disbands . Trump and America see themselves as world rulers, just like China does- they’re adopting a Chinese mindset - the collective needs of the country make anything we do to support those needs as “right” -Trumps moral compass (he has none) is the guide.

They don't give a crap, they will keep quiet about it just as they mostly do about Ukraine.

They will fawn and kiss the backside of Trump and the Skeksis creatures in the US admin. if they get power, once the price is right of course, just as they would do for Putin and Xi.

It's so very obvious now what a bunch of traitors they all are IMO, but calling themselves "patriots", promising to boot out the immigrants etc. seem to work very well on many voters in combo with the brain rotting propaganda on the internet.

It's like a magic trick or something.

The hint is in the name, SINGLE market.

He simply can’t pick countries from the bloc, all trade from the EU is treated as one, that’s the whole point.

How are we in 2026, and people still don’t understand this concept. It’s very, very basic.

The answer is in the name " country of origin "

Yeah I realised that after I posted and mentioned what you said in later posts.

It will say the EU on the customs form, due to it being the single market.

This feels like a Brexit thread all over again.

He can put tariffs on anyone he wants, surely? If the US chooses to tariff France, say, and not Ireland, how will the EU stop him? 'Hey, you cant tariff France without tariffing all the other EU countries, we demand you tariff everyone'.
