Missed the game but diabolical result.

There has to be serious concerns about being in the CL next season.

Only for the first few games where we won we've been awful since. The fact we are still 4th on less than 2 points per game shows how poor most teams have been this season. Serious concerns about CL football next season.

This times 100! We constantly play as tho we are 3-0 up. The amount of times we just refuse to attack on the break and instead our player will turn around and pass it back to the centre backs to just keep possession, it's infuriating tbh.

Slot complains about playing against a low block and yet anytime we win possession back with a chance to break onto the opposing team before they are defensively set we just purposefully slow down the attack and wait for the opposition to get back into their low block!

I think today is the day I'm starting to change my mind on Slot tbh. I can't handle us keeping possession for possession's sake while drawing the match anymore, or even at 1-0. We need to kill teams off at 1-0, not just try to keep possession for 30 minutes to hold onto the 1-0 lead. That and his use of the squad is atrocious. Worst I've ever seen from a Liverpool manager.

    Slot simply has to go.

I just can't watch these plonkers much longer

Come on lad, some of you guys can't wait for the manager to fail.

I've been here years over good and bad times but the same patterns always appear. New posters come out to give the current regime grief.

Nothing has changed a month later. Only question is how long the club puts up with this for. Time to tell Alonso to pack up the beach towels and get to work

From the outside looking in, Slot looks done.

He keeps talking about how his side are playing too slow and not moving it quicker after every result.

But yet there's very little change from Liverpool week to week. So the players are either not listening to him, or simply incapable of carrying out his instructions.

Given the talent in the Liverpool side you would have to think its the former, and its growing into more of an issue as the weeks go on.

We should have top that table last ten.

But in saying that it's not a bad run, just bad results

Get Alonso in the door now

That was such a boring watch, especially after watching the Manchester Derby which was the best match I've watched in a while. End to end.

Does anyone on here honestly believe that Slot is the man who will take this club forward and win silverware? I just hope to god the club are working hard now on alternatives in the summer and not pandering to the nonsensical “he’s earned a season” stuff. Everyone knows there’s no future in this.

All horrible performances (under Slot btw), but none of those are Burnley, second from bottom, utterly dominated 1st half and allowed to dictate and score when the second half commences and then hold that relatively comfortably for the rest pf the second half. As someone else posted, disgusting. Happening too often for the manager not to be responsible.

Slot has turned a team pressing from the front and brilliant to watch into a pedestrian bore fest. That's some going.

100% down to him and he won't be there in August.

There were a couple times we pressed Burnley super high, and they passed it right through us.

Then when it came time for Burnley to press us we couldn't escape it. Hard to witness.

This is where I'm at, I like Slot, and want him to succeed. But there's only so many times you can come out and call out the issues within your play, before the questions have to be asked as to why these issues persist.

Are the players not good enough to carry out these instructions? Like you I think not. So what's the problem?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,116 ✭✭✭riddles

he was done as far back as PSV anyone who could not see that is genuinely clueless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,660 ✭✭✭lee_baby_simms

This is purely conjecture but it feels like when Slot came in there was some kind of agreement that no big changes would be made. Maintain general style of play with no major signings. After winning the league I’m guessing that it was deemed Slot had earned a massive war chest and full control over how we played. If this is the case it is a damning indictment.

If we can get Alonso now I see no point waiting until August.

Yes I do. I still think we can win the CL this season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,352 ✭✭✭IrishOwl...

TBF to him on that, pressing from the front is not what the top teams are trying to do these days. Its to volatile and unpredictable. So I can see why he was trying shift from that, as Liverpool needed to move away from it.

His problem is he can't seem to get them to play to any system. And it's going to cost him his job.

What has happened to him, as when he was coming in, he was Mr Genpress, Klopp 2.0 , but even more so, he was all about quick football, creating chances, high-energy attacking , this was him. Has he changed his approach to football, to that of a Jose Mourinho all of a sudden. The best managers never alter, Klopp never did, we kept going until it worked his way. Slot was very fast to change to this approach of non risk, lets not lose football, trouble is, it's lets not win football too

The 6 losses in 7 was 2 months ago now, has the bounce back been good enough? Not for me.

We stopped losing but the performances have been turgid and we've dropped points to newly promoted sides and those in the relegation zone while barely scraping by terrible Spurs and Wolves teams

Before a ball was kicked that was a fairly good set of fixtures. Some good results in there but mostly disappointment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,660 ✭✭✭lee_baby_simms

To be fair our performance against RM would justify that belief but everything since then wouldn’t. For me anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,680 ✭✭✭Luxembourgo

For the first time I have no faith in us getting top 5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,375 ✭✭✭brevity

Maybe. But the baying for blood and total disregard of previous success is disappointing.

If he is sacked so be it, but I don’t think it’s a good thing for the club at all. Maybe it’s a fresh start which could be good for all involved

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,547 ✭✭✭kingshankly

slot us going to be gone in the summer might as well bite the bullet now and try get Alonso in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,898 ✭✭✭✭8-10

Regardless of how the performances have been we haven't been beaten in ages

I understand how unpopular and ridiculous this might sound, especially after a poor result at home, but that's what matters in cup knockouts and we're basically already through to the knockout playoff round of the CL at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,116 ✭✭✭riddles

Not at all we could be like arsenal heading for 6 years under Arteta reduced to hoof ball having spent 800 million. Slot came in used the recipe delivered a title happy days. We knew he had no experience managing big egos and using a squad.

Rip off the bandaid let him off to get more experience and move on asap. He’s getting a lotto win payoff. If there’s a full squad available do we really see much difference?

The lack of energy around the whole setup is down to him and his coaching staff. How long will it take to build a team at this rate where the manager values 14/15 players where at least four key players could be leaving end of the season.

ah here. He ended our worst run of results in living memory and we’ve now dropped points at home to all 3 newly promoted teams. It simply isn’t good enough.
