    #MilkMoustacheMoments

It’s like they’re 40 years behind the rest of civilization. Do we need to dig out the ‘them bones’ ad for them?

I disagree. An era I see frequently mentioned as when Ireland was "great" was the mid to late 90s. This was probably peak industrialisation, prosperous and before the service economy took over. It was also a time when the population was largely homogeneous.

The difference between this and the nebulous "better eras" in other countries is that the majority of the Irish population were alive through the 90's.

To me, MAGA is a lot more similar to Cromwell, Trevalyan and the illustrators of Victoria era Punch Magazine.

Trump now in possession of his first Nobel peace prize.

Nobel awards are completely over hyped by the MSM anyway. It's a 5 man committee picked by the Norwegian government. It's amazing people care so much.

Are we really in a position where the US President needs his ego massaged by an award that he didn’t win. It’s absolutely mind boggling when you think of some of the great statesmen that have held that office.

Remember when people thought George W Bush was the devil and unfit for office? That’s how bad things are now - he looks like Abraham Lincoln compared to this fella.

Sadly, Trump’s bullyboy tactics work to an extent. I lose faith in humanity when you have a Nobel Peace Prize winner handing over her medal to Trump and FIFA awarding him a peace prize. The selfishness of both of those moves is sadly reflective of how so much of the human race will put self interest above any shred of decency or morality.

Machado has some support in Congress including from Rep. Elvira Luna Salazar (Florida).

Make Eddie great again, he is a nasty toxic little man, thought we had heard the last of him…

Still going to say you aren’t a Trump fan?

He was given the medal, he was not awarded the prize. But you already knew that.

Amazing that people care so much? Trump is obsessed with it, and he will never be awarded one, and rightfully so.

I see she had it framed for him.

I really hope a few hours after his passing she reveals it's actually a fake one made out of chocolate 🤣

This is one of the most pitiful things I have ever seen in my entire life..I truly, truly mean that.

Always looking for adulation and validation.

President of the United States twice, and still it's not enough. Why? Because he despises the general public. He sees them as suckers, the stuff that accumulates on the bottom of his shoe as he steps on them again and again. How can he respect them when they came back for more?

Constantly craving the next "accomplishment", award or milestone. Desperate for praise but will ultimately turn on those that give it, because he knows it isn't genuine.

Despite the momentarily happiness moments like these provide, just like the FIFA award, deep down he knows it's not what he wanted, what he needed - recognition from people he respected.

And so, he will move on to getting "the next thing" in a vain effort to fill that bottomless void.

Despite his position of power, his privilege, his riches, his surroundings, he must be one of the most miserable people on the f**king planet.

I suppose that's our consolation prize.

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

Gag. I wonder if the Nobel committee can rescind it. Machado won't get what she wants out of this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,530 ✭✭✭HalloweenJack

Both of them are pathetic, yet we already knew that about Trump. Machado is so desperate for power, she's losing any sense of dignity and demeaning her position and achievement. Honestly, I hope it blows up in her face and he sticks with Rodriguez. I doubt anyone expects different from someone who supported a dictator for so long and now has the advantage. Machado will have a lot to do to catch up.

He only wants the best deal for him, look at the money already being extracted from Venezuela. It was never about Maduro or peace and he doesn't give a **** whether its the opposition or the dictatorship that gives it to him; its all about the Art of the Deal and its infuriating that people fall for it and the biggest losers here will be the Venezuelans who've already suffered so much.

Basically it is like buying a copy on ebay. It is worthless. The value is not in the "token" but the awarding and the recognition that comes with the awarding.

So, let me get this straight. At risk to life and limb, US troops with a big naval backup, dart into Venezuela and snatch Maduro. The US then extorts a deal for Venezuelan oil and, in fact, sells some for $500 million.

That money is apparently housed in a bank in Qatar, under the control of the US Treasury which in turn will of course answer to CFTrump. So,

    risk US personnel

    Extort Oil

Sell and put the $$ in an overseas account in a country known to be friendly to Trump (remember the airplane?)

How is this not out-and-out criminal extortion, backed by US $ and American lives, to benefit Trump?

    Another eventually impeachable offense.

The small victory is that he's probably already forgot about it and foaming at the mouth with Carney meeting Xi in China.

What a saddo giving that insufferable dotard the Nobel peace prize. She was pro the slaughter in Gaza so not sure how she got it to be begin with. It’s farcical at this stage, like when they gave it to Obama just because he was the first non fully white US president as US bombs ran down on villages. Joke through and through.

This was exactly what I thought - This is the same as buying or receiving someone's Grammy as a present!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,496 ✭✭✭✭Jelle1880

It's extremely sad on her part, she's doing her best to get in his good graces because she wants his backing to become the next leader, when in reality he's already shown he doesn't care about her in the slightest. When will these people learn that Trump doesn't care about others ?

Will be fascinating to see how that develops. If Canada trade pivots to E Asia, I can see Trump throwing tantrums as it lessens US position in the global order, and it will kickstart Canada economy

When will people learn that being pathetic and debasing yourself for Trump will get you nowhere?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,269 ✭✭✭cunnifferous

There needs to a coalition of the willing on trade. The EU, Canada, Japan, ROK, Australia/NZ should should form a new trading bloc. Kind of like BRICS, but with less despots.

He's called the current leader of Venezuela a terrific person.

'Cheers for the medal Machado, now **** off' :D

I think That Trump is ‘over-smiling a bit’ in the photo. He needs to ‘pull back a bit’ so that his ‘natural smile ‘comes shining through!!!!!!

What should happen in Venezuela is free and fair elections with external oversight. But the Americans won't allow that anytime soon. They just want a puppet while they investigate how best to get the oil.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?
