Hopefully Minnesota gets a bit of a break from Trump-ism even though DHS is supposedly moving an extra 1,000 ICE personnel to the state on ICE operations.

It's only a few days ago that Gov Walz sent a warning order to the Minnesota National Guard as a prelude to him possibly calling it up as a support in Minneapolis to prevent disorder between the local population and the ICE agents operating in the city.

Yes, we're now on the front line, whether we know it or not.

What is it's nature? Domination I would think. She's not wearing her usual role-play costume, except she kind of is. A snug fitting, innocent white top, carefully arranged hair, saying I am a fragile and vulnerable woman standing in front of all you thugs, rapists, gang members, and there aint a damn thing you can do about what you are thinking. Though judging by the blank expressions I think they are probably all drugged to some extent.

    From that article:

We want to work with aligned countries that want to restore their former greatness.

I've asked this before, when was Ireland ever "great"? We were a British colony for many years and then after that we were pretty much a Catholic theocracy with mass emigration.

To be clear, I am 100% opposed to the death penalty, but South Korea are certainly making clear how important the feel Democracy is in the wake of 2024s attempted insurrection by Yoon Suk Yeol.

Imagine if the US had taken Jan 6th even ¼ as seriously after the transfer of power.

The particular nazi-admirer that posted it, didn't mention Israel, just gave a MAGA-style reply, as if that excuses it's blatant antisemitism.

Ah well, just another day on Boards. I imagine they're all congratulating each other about the witty rejoinder in one of those "wink wink" anti-Israeli governmet threads.

Not necessarily great but we definitely tended to have politicians that had influence greater than our size. Nuclear non proliferation would be a stand out in my head. We've also had seats on the UN security council in the last 5 years.

Important to remember that the populist, nationalist right does not have the monopoly on racism, especially anti-Semitism. We learned that when the left took over the Labour party here in the UK.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

When we were all dancing at the cross roads. It needs to be remembered that the document to which this article refers; was written by a bunch of christian white supremacists, who would have a hard on for the catholic white Irish only state that existed back in the 1930s through to the 1960s.

Not to mention our institutions that facilitated child rape on an industrial scale, which would appeal to the likes of Trump. And a woman's place will be in the home, with all non whites and members of the LGBT community treated as second class citizens or worse.

This is what they are talking about when they use terms like 'restoring civilisation', and 'banishing the woke'.

Through to the 60s? The cracks in Catholic Ireland really only start appearing properly in the late eighties/early nineties imo. That last Magdalene laundry didn't cease operation until 1996.

St Patrick is famous for banishing Ireland`s snakes, so instead of a bowl of shamrocks we could present him with a bowl of snakes perhaps.

Mike Johnson on Renee Good: "This woman was taunting ICE officers. She was impeding law enforcement. She was violating a number of laws. They were very patient ... what I saw was she hit the accelerator and hit the ICE officer and he reacted in a split second."

For someone who is keen to monitor information, like his son's access to porn sites, you'd think he might be more informed....

Mike Johnson may be the very best example of simply calling yourself a proud Christian doesn't make you a good person.

There's very little to like or respect about a weak little man so utterly devoid of character and principle that he cowers to whatever bully he feels can protect him the best. A genuinely odious man.

And utterly hypocritical if rumours regarding his attempts at converting truckers to Christianity at rest stops are to be believed.

No worries, in a few days Mike will say he 'doesn't know anything about it'.

It's for the jury in the case, not the judge. In the US, judges only rule on law, juries rule on fact.

I would not be surprised by criminal acquittal, administrative actions coming from violation of policy, and a likely failed attempt for damages in civil court. The last rather depends on the fine details of the laws on qualified immunity which are beyond my ken, but they do tend to be lenient towards officers.

he’s spot on.. Ross did act in a split second… to make an intentional choice to execute the woman, all the while knowing that he wasn’t in danger, and knowing that he did not need to execute her in self defense, because it was not self defense… a scumbag killer!

do you think from what you have seen that Ross was correct and justified in opening fire?

MM , with all due respects, you did not answer my question. So with regards to my post no 43391 just change the word JUDGE to the word JURY and try an answer again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,711 ✭✭✭Virgil°

Further to that. I'd love to know what those who would justify this shooting think about the Jan 6 rioters?

Surely if you think that shooting Good was in any way justified then by that standard the police on Jan 6 were well within their rights to end hundreds of lives?

In a dark way you could reason that had that happened we might not have had Trump again and the world wouldn't be in such an awful chaotic mess right now.

That depends on what the jury would hear to be convinced. It requires a huge piece of information which we do not have: "What was he thinking?"

Even if the investigation finds that there is a case to answer, and if the DA feels there is sufficient probability of conviction, the agent still has the opportunity to convince the jury that in the totality of the circumstances he felt that shooting was the correct course of action, because that's the entire basis of a legal defense.

I think we are all in general agreement of what he did. It's the why he did it which may be the difference between conviction and acquittal and the only person whose thinking 'counts' for this is the defendant's, and the only thing that matters from then is whether the jury believes his testimony, if given. Again, we are back to the Rittenhouse example where few people like or approve of what he did, either during the shooting or the lead-up, but his honestly held reasonable belief at the time was sufficient. People were convinced of guilt until the verdict was read. I would submit that a repeat of this should not happen.

As to the January 6th shooting, I've always maintained that the agent/officer who shot Ms Babbitt appeared to be justified.

    Again, everything Trump touches, dies.

RIP(?) Scott Adams. Just a prominent CFTrump supporter who tried ivermectin and fenbendazole (the common ingredient in dog and cat wormer) to defeat his metastatic prostate cancer.

Don't know what happened to such a funny guy to go full Trumper. He knew what he was doing, though.

On the news tonight Trump is telling Iranians to “keep protesting - help is on the way “

Where is that man’s head at ?
While Protestors in his own country are being summarily shot dead by masked enforcers on the govt payroll he is urging Iranians to keep on protesting - despite the fact that hundreds are being mown down by govt forces.

Something is on the way … but will it be of any real help in the current confrontation?

Again not the question asked. There were at least dozens of people rioting and attacking officers at the capitol, using actual weapons. Is there justification for the officers sending all of them to the morgue?

GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS FROM Denmark and Greenland are due to speak with US Vice President JD Vance in Washington tomorrow, a meeting called in response to threats from President Donald Trump of taking over the island territory.

Denmark’s foreign minister said the reason Copenhagen and Nuuk had requested Wednesday’s meeting was “to move the entire discussion… into a meeting room, where you can look each other in the eye and talk through these issues”.

Today Randy Fine [R] Florida introduced the Greenland Annexation and Statehood Act as a way for Trump “to find the means necessary to bring Greenland into the Union”.

“By acquiring Greenland, we would prevent our adversaries from controlling the Arctic Region and secure our northern flank from Russia and China,” Fine said in a post on X.

“Greenland is not a distant outpost we can afford to ignore, it is a vital national security asset,” Fine said in a statement.

Greenland's prime minister has said his people would choose Denmark over the US if they were asked to make such a choice "here and now".

This will elevate Trumps blood pressure a bit more.
