It’s pretty similar to what actually got built. There was even a canal going through The Mall up to Capital Hill, but it got filled in sometime after the American Civil War.

they cut the bag open on the corner and drink milk out of this pitcher… Parts of Canada have them due to an overhang from changeover to metric system

A bag of milk is just bizarre!

Is the humble milk bottle extinct? Don't see any green on the map. (And just Australia with "All")

And we can still get plastic jugs/bottles here, if you get the larger ones.

There's a few extremely niche suppliers using glass bottles here, but nobody of scale.

getting back to the question of the volume of the med - a quick bit of calculation based on claimed volumes of the med, and total surface area of the worlds oceans; displacing the water of the med to all other oceans would raise world sea levels by 10.4m.

(total volume of the med being 3.75 X 10^15 cubic m, and total surface area of the oceans being 3.6 x 10^14 sq m)

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 97,810 Mod ✭✭✭✭Capt'n Midnight

Ah, but did you subtract the surface area of the Med ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 15,523 ✭✭✭✭josip

The Med has a higher salinity and density than the oceans, so the Med water would sink to the bottom and there wouldn't be any change in the overall height.

Eh? Surely it would displace the water already at the bottom and push everything up?

It can't just magically vanish because it's salty
