I also suggested he probably was too and said I wouldn't have done it myself. What's your point?

Sounds like a balance viewpoint then from the inlaw if he's said things against her and the officer? Clearly not taking a side like most people in American politics do.

Royal Celt should just give up.

Embarrassing themselves, and for a completely ridiculous hill to die on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,254 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

"So there you go folks. Don't quiver in fear and you deserve three bullets in the head.

We are compiling quite the list of reasons to be shot dead!"

That's not what I said. You've just misinterpreted what I said it's as simple as that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,656 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

You absolutely are taking a side, you're implying she should have an expectation of being shot in the head. You've shown no concern that there's clearly a cover up occurring by the administration. You've not said a word about how Trump has smeared her since she was shot and killed. She was just "brazen" and "aggressive" so should have expected it apparently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,254 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

I can only speak for myself but if I went to America and acted like that my heart would be in my mouth thinking this could very well be my last moments. Doesn't mean it's right, but I'm not an idiot and that's what I'd be thinking.

Leftwing MEPs are calling for the US-EU trade deal to be put on ice over Trumps Greenland threats. The Centre Right EPP is noncommittal. But if the Left unite, they can block it.

The deal was deeply unpopular in the European Parliament already, seen as a sellout to Trump.

I think its the only to go. We saw it with the China-US trade negotiations after the tariffs that this is the only thing he respects.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,049 ✭✭✭10000maniacs

Trump doubling down on his threat to take Greenland "before Russia or China do"

This is bull$hit, because there is no way Russia or China would dare to take Greenland triggering an all out war with the US.

The rules of engagement for agents is to not shoot at a moving vehicle. Was the agent aggressive and reckless when he murdered a citizen?

She was dropping someone off and this is shown in videos. Do citizens of the USA need to justify why they are driving somewhere and why so? Is it not the land of the free any more?

That's not what I said. You've just misinterpreted what I said it's as simple as that.

Oh, we're not misinterpreting what youve been saying in any way!!!

Maybe he knows if Russia or China made a move on Greenland and Denmark triggered article 5, Trump would just ignore it. It would be nice if some reporter would ask him if the US would defend Greenland under article 5 if that were the case.

So, Trump 'needs' Greenland for security and to prevent Russia or China taking it

Greenland are part of Denmark, so in NATO. NATO has approx 3.5m in active armed forces. US has approx 1.3m.

If he annexes it, he'll have 2.2m less to defend it.

    Isn't Trump logic just fantastic

But, as we all know, it's nothing to do with security.

No you literally are because I said imo he's a POS and I wouldn't do it. People are seeing my comments taking a neutral stance before jumping to a conclusion and they then jump to wrong conclusions with my posts. It always happens in these heated American politics topics.

I ask why she was there to try establish some of the facts. You've said she was there to drop a friend off and I appreciate you answering that. If it's true it goes against the narrative she went there to confront them.

It's important not too go blindly down the MAGA/Anti MAGA path and at least get some context first.

I have been surprised by some here in the past who I thought were reasonable people you could converse with, that when push came to shove went for dying on hills defending actions by this administration that in any sane world were indefensible.

What is happening on here now in relation to the murder of Renee Good is even beyond that threshold and shows what sick disgusting low life fcuks they really are

AGS aren’t perfect but what a blessing to have police we generally have no reason to fear. One less thing to worry about in life.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,212 ✭✭✭Ardillaun

I wonder whether the Mercator projection maps make him think it’s far bigger than it is, more like Africa than Congo. He seems to be thinking of his legacy already, albeit in a very 19th century way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 562 ✭✭✭pad406

Possibly, he'll be shocked to find out it's only a little bigger than Alaska 😁

Jan 6th should have precluded Trump from ever running again. The intimidation of Pence to not perform 'the handover of power' should not be forgotten. The threats, the riled up gangs of 'Proud Boys', and various other grotesque, gunned up cosplay groups.

Pence recently received the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for actually going ahead and performing the transfer of power. That needs an award in 2025. I laughably understand that because I can remember the bloody maniacs let loose in the Capitol on January 6th, and I can remember the pressure and the rhetoric at that time - it's on record.

    21010.png

The above referenced 'JFK Library' does seem to remain the 'JFK Library' for now.

Trump's many well documented crimes really should have precluded him from the presidency. In hindsight, maybe one of Biden's mistakes was not to ensure Trump was really finished, but he was someone who (naively to Trumpites) seemed to believe in due process.

The Epstein Files the Trump regime are not releasing (against lawful orders) are of course comprising, and there is of course a gigantic, shameful cover up occuring currently, as the regime aggressively flail about and trample over international law, and shock their friends and allies, upsetting world order.

I feel Sean Spicer has a lot to answer for as one of the first 'I am going to bare face lie into your face about all the bad sh1t we are doing' US representative and government spokesperson.

The United States is just so immature really. The worst little sh1ts. This administration is so absolutely intoxicated by power, bending or breaking the law to their will. They have unabashedly unleashed their nastiness and greed and beared it to the world. The massive corruption and illegality.

These people have no honour, and have sullied the White House. Both metaphorically and literally; with their cheap spray painted gold shite, tacked on the walls of the oval office.

The 'forefathers' would be rolling in their graves!

She had just dropped her child at school. This has been widely reported over the past 24-36 hours. It appears to be brand new information to you for some reason.

Trump is just a person who needs to be doing something all the time with zero consequences.

Doesn’t matter what it is. He’s led an eventful privileged life.

What he’s doing now is just a continuation of the life he’s led with a silver spoon in his mouth.

I want to add that I (as I suspect most do) have a genuine grá for the US. Ireland and the US are so deeply connected. We helped build the country. I know we all welcome US citizens of Irish ancestry, and enjoy their company. I myself have been to the US many times, and have always had a great time.

This administration is ultimately just that: this administration.

A US promoting their stated values (as understood previously at least) can and should be a force for good. That is what I want and expect from the United States.

It feels to me like we are living in a pivotal moment in history.. Either we can course correct (the adults take control) or we are in for deep, deep trouble.

The adults have to be within Congress, and the Senate.

Ex Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura describes the Republican party as "a domestic enemy to our constitution". He is a former WWF/WWE wrestler and Independent governor. Compares US now to Germany in the 1930s. Praises Roosevelt High Schoolfor keeping ICE off the Campus. Says "we're a third world country now" because "in Third World countries they have the military doing the police work". Also compares the situation to the Ferdinand Marcos regime in the Philipines in terms of how militarised it is. Says "I spent 17 months in South East Asia while the draft dodger was playing golf". Says "I was in the Philippines the day Ferdinand Marcos declared martial law and went under dictatorship. He went from nobody to a guy with a machine gun on every corner".

This totalitarian regime like all other such regime has the credo that might is right. A view I believe now very obviously shared by at least one contributor here with the gymnastics being performed to defend anything militarily related.

It`s a far cry from Abraham Lincoln Union Institute speech of 1860 where he said "Right makes might".

The majority of people wouldn't know that detail and I'm now in the minority. What you mean by for some reason.

Trump was elected twice by the American people. They saw what he was like the first time and after a brief respite decided they wanted more of the same. There’s no way round that. My view of Americans has changed since 2016. I don’t assume they are trustworthy any more.

    on the 5th

a notable timeframe. “We will deal with Greenland in about two months. Let’s talk about Greenland in 20 days,” he said, without explaining why he mentioned that specific period.

this comment causing the world's media to fly to Nuuk, and today Trump says

If it does happen, it won't just end NATO, but it will split the EU as there is a mutual defence clause, western EU will side to Denmark, but eastern EU are dealing with Russian threats and rely on US hardware

Let’s not dress this up as a tragedy. Tragedy is an act of nature, an illness, this was a murder. A murder by one of a set of thugs unleashed on city. And it has been coming.

You know - or certainly you should - what happens when you set an undisciplined military force on a civilian population. You are not “explaining” you are rationalizing the irrational and frankly it’s disgusting.

The comment linked below is a discussion of the decision making process and what occurred.

The dems enabled this in 2020 when they didn't lock this traitor up like Brazil did to Bolsonaro a better democracy than America has.

Dem are pathetic and only less corrupt.

The felon should have his immunity removed/wavered and marched straight to jail for killing an innocent US citizen.

Where are the posters saying the “experts” they heard from would be chomping at the bit to get the oil in Venezuela?

    https://www.politico.com/news/2026/01/09/venezuela-is-uninvestible-for-now-exxon-ceo-tells-trump-in-white-house-meeting-00720198

Exxon CEO Darren Woods offered the starkest assessment, telling Trump in the live-streamed meeting in the East Room that Venezuela is “uninvestable” under current conditions. He said major changes were needed before his company would return to the country, and that big questions remain about what return Exxon could expect from any investments.

“If we look at the legal and commercial constructs and frameworks in place today in Venezuela today, it’s uninvestable,” Woods told Trump. “Significant changes have to be made to those commercial frameworks, the legal system. There has to be durable investment protections, and there has to be a change to the hydrocarbon laws in the country.”

Another master stroke from Trump. He is a joke of a businessman.

Notice it's the MAGAts obsessed with her sexuality. Well, they are, it's a tribe with a lot of incels in it, and heck, anything but address her brutal murder.

Did the shooter know her sexual orientation before he fired? If that's justification, should all LGBTQ+ wear pink trianles on their foreheads so law 'enforcement' can know in advance what rules apply?

    Sickening.
