OP, definitely do not buy one of these for your child. The amount of young lads I see doing insanely dangerous things on these at speed in Dublin city centre is crazy.

Bad enough some of the stuff we used to get up to on our bikes back in the 90s, cant even imagine how many of my friends would have died back then on devices that could go at those speeds.

I wouldnt even say that. Escooters are fine for people who use them responsibly. By and large thats not 16 year olds.

@ OP - completely get your challenge - I think for you the issue is that you are isolated in making these decision, you are making the decision on your own. So talk to people about it, offload your anxiety about it.

There are similar decisions to be made - at the different stages of a childs upbringing -around phones, around gym membership, around xboxes. Can I get this, all my friends have them. Its hard as a parent.

Do you apply the same thought process to what is by far and away the most dangerous vehicle on our roads, the motor car? Oh thats different, because you use one yourself, so not the same thing at all.

Im guessing there are alot more incidents regarding bicycles but there are not reported.

Every mode of transport from bicycles, e bikes, skateboards etc are dangerous. The same as e scooters and they are all facts.
