The squad needs improvements (wingback and midfielder, obviously) but given about 7 or 8 first teamers are currently missing then it’s not as bad as we think. Also consider how many players we have out on loan.

Managers often use lack of transfers as a deflection. The performances over the past month or two have been absolutely abysmal. That’s on the manager who prepares the team.

Why can’t Dalot pass properly ? Why is our first touch so bad ? Why are we constantly caught offside from Lammens’ long balls ? Why are we wide open in midfield? Why can’t we get more out of our strikers ? Why did we start with 6 defenders today? Why do we keep kicking the ball away? Etc.

    Deflection.

Now you have Carragher doing a hit piece on him this evening, right on queue.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

He is statistically the worst Man United manager in living memory though, that's a fact. We would need to have scored plenty this season, Everton, Fulham, Spurs all have better defensive records this season and that's with 5 at the back.

Liverpool are not the comparison, they're having a woeful season. We're 6th with 31 points, last season at the same stage we'd be in 9th position. This season, most teams are taking points off one another rather than us being decent.

I don't lay all the blame on Amorim but results are crap and the football is dreadful. I've said before I wouldn't mind us not getting results if the football was decent and showing improvement. I see neither. INEOS have majorly fecked up here too and zero confidence in what they've shown so far.

Sky only want clicks. I was happy to see Amorim call out Neville specifically because he’s been more than happy to have a go at any stage. Funny how he wasn’t so gung ho when Ole was the manager.

Sigh. You (not you, but the thread) say he's the worst manager ever. Based on the last 20 league games, he's not. He's up there with… check the league table. The football isn't dreadful, it's what it is. 6th place after 20 games with no midfield and the most attacking players off to a tournament.

But statistically he is, that's the point. We've gone 15 games without keeping a clean sheet and today we started with 6 defensive players, 7 if you include Casemiro. IMO, the football is dreadful. We're boring to watch. I can get behind the excuse of attacking players gone to AFCON but there's not excuse for the games v West Ham (1-1 at home, they'll be fav to get relegated), losing 1-0 at home to Everton (versus 10 men for 80+ mins). They were dreadful watches with no excuse.

For plenty of the wins this season, you could point to reasons as to why we won (Chelsea v 10 men, Burnley last minute peno (fav to get relegated), Palace (lucky to get the win), scammed a result at home to Newcastle.

During 2025, we won 13 games and drew 11. 50 points. It's not the standard we should be aiming for.

As I said, there are plenty of issues above Amorim - they knew about AFCON and never prepared for it. Spending £70million on Sesko who looks miles off it, could come good but huge lack of confidence. No depth in midfield, been an issue for years at this stage. The blame isn't solely on Amorim but he's not good enough. A new manager can transform a team (look at Emery), we never even got a new manager bounce with RA.

In fairness he should have been sacked after the EL final.

the brains trust could have done the exact same regardless of who the manager was.

can we give amorim credit for removing players that the majority of fans were sick of? i dunno. it may have happened regardless.

To be fair, they are still sixth. I just do not get the problem. The current team is performing as to be expected. When the rest return… better results.

There has been only one real standout performance this season and we suffered an undeserved loss, match against Villa, it's hard to believe we have been hovering on getting 4th for weeks on end. But that's more to do with a ridiculous amount of other inconsistent teams this season. There's still a fair bit of fixing required for the squad no matter who the manager is.

bottom 5 aside, we have conceded the most. and playing with an extra defender as well.

he needs to strike a balance and secure some clean sheets. having to score 2+ per game to win is pissing into the wind.

While I'm unsure if Amorin is the right manager I'm all in for the overhaul he's trying to implement. If the club goes ahead and sacks him without addressing the areas where he needs to strengthen ie wing backs and central midfielders then not a single thing has changed. I dont see his system working at all but the powers that be in the club were all for it so its all on them. We were all critical of Ten Haag for changing his principles once he seen the players he had, we'll do the very same with Amorin.

and yet defends liverpool at every opportunity.

neville needs to do the same.

This gets dragged every so often, despite being absolute nonsense.

    Under INEOS:

    • The massive bloated staff has been greatly reduced.
    • The practice of giving crazy £300k+ contracts to the likes of Sancho, Rashford etc has ended.
    • Endlessly extending contracts for the likes of Shaw & Martial to "protect their value" has stopped.
    • For the most part we've bought well, in terms of quality anyway, not so much in terms of the right positions being filled. But no more letting ETH buy tubes like Antony & Onana. Ugarte and Zirkzee are failures in fairness, jury out on Sesko.
    • A temporary hold on the Glazers taking dividends was agreed. It'll end at some stage but it was a good thing anyway.
    • Plans are in place for a new stadium. Only preliminary, and there are many obstacles not least funding, but compared to the absolute neglect of the stadium by the Glazers it's a major move forward.

Not everything in the Ineos garden is rosy, far from it. But it's much much better than the full Glazers ownership.

Neville should be banned from commentating on Utd games. At least that way he can keep him moaning to his podcast or somewhere else where I can ignore him more easily.

He's a great man for making excuses for other teams, especially Arteta who he seems to really love despite being a failure in terms of trophies and success, plus they are complete shîtě to watch.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

I look at positions Dorgu gets into out wide or Dalot and Shaw then I watch in disbelief as they either hit the ball into the defenders ankles or pass back for it to be passed back and again and Lammens hits it long and possession is lost...

I remember fondly the old type chalk on the boots wingers..stay high and wide. Imagine Giggs, Kanchelskis, Sharpe.. even Tony Valencia in those Dorgu positions..always forward full back offering the overlap and put the ball in the box, if youre going to concede possession do it by attacking not trying to pick up 2nd balls around midfield

We've seen a resurgence of the long throw in..my new years wish is the old style winger full back overlap and 1st time cross to become the next resurgence

I see a lot of folk criticising those who say that Amorim said he's leaving in 18 months.

True, he didn't specifically say he wouldn't sign a new deal, but he was pretty definitive and to me was drawing a line for the ownership and daring them to sack him.

I mean these are word for word:

    • it's going to be that way for 18 months or when the board decide to change.
    • I'm not going to quit, I will do my job until the other guy is coming to replace me.
    • I'm going to be the manager of this team, not just the coach. And that is going to finish in 18 months and then everyone is going to move on.

    Important parts in bold.

He didn't say if the board decide to replace him, he said when. Maybe just a turn of phrase, and English isn't his first language, but still.

"I'm not going to quit". Big change there from when he said he'd walk without asking for compensation if the board felt he wasn't the man for the job and that to me came across as a defiant challenge. If you want me gone, sack me.

And the main one, "I'm the manager and that is going to finish in 18 months." That's a very clear statement. Not we'll see what happens in 18 months, not I'm the manager for 18 months at least, not that might finish in 18 months.

I'd say there will be serious talks at board level this week and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he's gone before the next match.

I'll be sad if so. I really wanted him to make it and defended him right up until the Everton mess. But it just doesn't look like he can do it and things appear to be breaking down at board level now too, presumably as their patience wears thin.

Champagne on ice for one more day until this clown is sent packing.

    Worst manager in PL history.

Few occasionally reliable journos on Twitter reporting he’s on the brink after that post match conference.

Think it's pretty clear what's hapenend.

I believe there's been a disagreement behind the scenes with wilcox and viveli or whatever his name is and Amorim. I think it would of stayed in house but someone has leaked it to the press and that's what has triggered Amorim.

In that argument I belive someone mentioned what Pundits(Nevile) was saying and tried to use it agaisnt amorim.

Amorim didn't have a go at Nevile he literally said if you can't handle criticism from Gary Nevile and the likes you shouldn't be at the club. He was calling out wikcox and viveli for not doing their job properly that's all. And basically saying he won't quit so they will have to get with it or sack him.

It was planned and wasn't even him losing the head I think it was him getting his story out incase he has to sign a non disclosure agreement it was very measured.

He is bang on to do it too call them out and put the attention on them if he does get sacked.

    Media are delighted.

Wow, it's all escalated very quickly!

I'm conflicted like a lot of the fan base I think.

Two things can be true here, we don't want to once again rip things up and start again and Amorim is not doing enough with what he has.

I still come down the side of supporting him and giving it more time, we have to get through a tough period together and maybe something good is on the other side of it and maybe not. But I'd like to find out for sure first.

for me the need for at least one CM this month trumps any managerial shenanigans.

He has the worse record of any United manager. What makes you think it will improve and for anyone saying that he did a great job clearing out the mess I.e. players that were surplus to requirements with poisonous attitudes i.e. Rashford, Sancho. This would have happened irrespective of who was in charge.
