Well, big game today for many reasons!

Very difficult to know how it will go. I wonder is there any small chance of a Mainoo appearance?

Leeds have been shafted by the fixture list, so it should theoretically be an opportune time to get a win there.

What will happen, I haven't really got the foggiest!

we are more than capable of winning this so a win for me.

that is if amorim can motivate them. charisma is about all he has going on, and if he loses that (presser last night was tired and gloomy looking) he be fuked. also needs to motivate himself, figure out if he has the fight to continue.

Hard to see where they might be not backing him. They've backed him when he's wanted a player moved on, they've spent money this season, and let's be honest with his record he should be lucky he's not gotten his p45 yet.

Maybe a better striker for the money that was spent but that's splitting hairs. He knew the squad he was walking into wouldn't suit how he plays and that the club has a tight budget.

If he didn't bottle the Europa League maybe he might have gotten an extra player or two this summer and would be easier to do business this month too.

When you see Arsenal bringing on subs like Saka, Trossard, Jesus, and Merino and also have Eze and White that cannot get a few minutes the realisation of how weak our squad is hits home.

Seems to be the same squad as against Wolves so hard to be overly optimistic today.

A draw would be a good result.

assuming here. they were willing to spend 65m on semenyo 2 weeks ago.

i'd say he wants that spent now on a CM.

Zirks hardly keeps his place. Surely Fletcher replaces him.

on a positive note, if we win today we move 4th.

if we lose today: Xavi is ready to take the Manchester United job immediately if the role is offered.

Romano is a funny guy 😂 but for the record, I am also ready to take the United job immediately if offered. Junior league to Premier league in one fell swoop

    Jesus that's grim.

    9 defensive players.

could be a 4-3-3 either, with martinez going CM and shaw LB?

    Lammens,

    yoro heaven martinez

    dalot, Casemiro Ugarte shaw

    Cunha sesko dorgu

Bayindir fredricson kukonki malacia mantato fletcher x 2, zirkzee

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,727 ✭✭✭caviardreams

    Dorgu as a 10

Jesus. That team is bare bones. We will be lucky not to get destroyed I feel

Need big leadership from Licha, Cas and Cunha today I think. I will be optimistic and go for a sneaky 2-2 draw

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,674 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

I never thought of this but I hope you're correct. He whipped Zirkzee off to bring a CM on against Wolves at home. Surely you don't go to Elland road with the players currently available and stick to 343 again.

Honestly glad that Semenyo deal isn't happening. CM is the position that's badly needed. I could see frustrations there alright but if you're dipping down to 4th and 5th choices in CM for the sake of buying players it's a quick way of ending up with another Ugarte.

From quickly reading other things and it might be me misinterpreting things but if the £65M was spent on Semenyo in January it affects the summers budget.

No point spending anything without sorting the manager first. Thankfully things seem to be coming to a head with his comments in recent days. Seems frustrated that he is expected to improve players and that 250m spent in the summer wasn't enough.

Auld fella and brother are Leeds... They're looking forward to this match.

The biggest boost I've gotten is not seeing Zirkzee on the starting 11.

McTominay and Hojlund playing on TNT2 if people want to escape the pre match build up.

Improve what players? Who in that starting XI or on the bench can he improve?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,552 ✭✭✭CantGetNoSleep

The 70m striker, 62m young centre back or 50m midfielder for a start

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,572 ✭✭✭fatherted1969

Weakest subs bench i think I've ever seen. Hope he's not looking to improve things from the bench cis thats not happening

When you see us having to start Ugarte then you know our squad is worryingly short of players.

Obviously this match is of the upmost importance but we’ll have to get players in this month.

Leeds are favs in my eyes here but let’s just hope we take our chances

scouts need to do their work.

in the entirety of the professional football world, i would say there are 30 CM's we could buy for upto 65m that can immediately be as good as anderson/wharton/whoever.

need to win today, vs burnley and brighton in fa cup. cos city and arsenal could be absolute horror shows.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,727 ✭✭✭caviardreams

We are getting to the stage where Bayindir is becoming a genuine outfield option!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,404 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

True, and not making excuses for him as I think his goose is cooked, but rotten luck to have AFCON and an injury crisis at the exact time he needs to pull something out of the hat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 20,990 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

with only 2 real attackers on the pitch today, a clean sheet is an absolute must. 1 or 2 nil to us is my prediction.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,816 ✭✭✭Manc-Red_

Yep, fair comment there - City and Arsenal on paper are zero points for us.

For me you have to give Lacey a start and see what happens.

Amorim is far too risk averse, when the world gives you lemons.........

Has to be the worst Manchester United bench ever for a big match!
