US and Israel hope 2026 will be the year all Palestinians are ethnically cleansed from Palestine. I expect the overfed and fat EU to suggest … blah blah blah. The US, Israel, and UK are all on for occupying Somaliland and establishing military bases.there.

The United States defended Israel's right to recognise the breakaway territory of Somaliland at the United Nations on Monday, comparing it to the recognition of a Palestinian state by numerous countries.

"Israel has the same right to conduct diplomatic relations as any other sovereign state," Tammy Bruce, deputy US ambassador to the UN, said during an emergency UN Security Council meeting.

Slovenian ambassador Samuel Zbogar, whose country has recognised the Palestinian state, rejected Washington's comparison.

"Palestine is not part of any state. It is illegally occupied territory, as declared by the International Court of Justice, among others," while Somaliland "is part of a UN member state and recognising it goes against" the UN Charter, Zbogar said.

Maybe Starmer does not remember history? British officers club bombed by Israelis in 1947. 18 dead and 25 injured. In video, it is reported as from Palestine.

Just as the threat of famine in Gaza has receded (though extreme hunger is still widespread), it seems the Israelis are very unhappy.

    So what to do? easy….

    Haaretz:

The Israeli government said it would revoke the license of 37 humanitarian organizations to operate in Gaza, including Doctors Without Borders, ActionAid, and Oxfam, over what it said were violations of security and transparency standards. Israel's Diaspora Affairs Ministry claimed that "security reviews revealed that employees of certain organizations were involved in terrorist activity... in particular, Doctors Without Borders."

Doctors Without Borders, which currently sponsors hundreds of aid workers in Gaza, said it refused to cooperate with Israeli policy as French law barred it from providing information on its staff. According to the new Israeli directive, the aid group will have to evacuate its staff from the Strip by March 1.

The U.K., Canada, France, Japan and several other countries others expressed "serious concerns about the renewed deterioration ‌of the humanitarian situation in Gaza which remains catastrophic" in a joint statement.

Smotrich does Smotrich and gives the game away in precisely how Israel functions - pure belligerence and threats of violence to anyone and everyone they don't like - even within.

    Haaretz:
In an interview with Army Radio, far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich refused to retract his threat to "run over" Israel's Supreme Court President Isaac Amit, whom he called a "violent megalomaniac" on Monday. Smotrich said Amit was "trampling the people" of Israel, adding that "the inevitable result of one side acting with violence is that the other side also has to act with violence… Whoever tramples me, I trample him back."

When asked whether his comments could pose a real danger to Amit's life, Smotrich replied: "Do you want to talk about the persecution that the cabinet members are going through? Enough with the hypocrisy."

Amit denounced Smotrich's comments in an open letter, saying they "crossed a red line," but "will not divert me from my path."

Nope, nothing to see here. Move along now.

    Haaretz:
court ordered the release from house arrest of the three far-right settler activists suspected of attacking a pregnant woman in Jaffa earlier in December.

The police had requested a six-day extension of their detention to conduct further investigations and cited a danger to public safety.

    As does Erdogan

    Haaretz:

Speaking at a press conference in Istanbul alongside his Somali counterpart, Turkish President Erdogan said Israel's decision was an illegal ‍and unacceptable step, adding that Israel was trying to ‍drag the Horn of Africa ‌into destabilization.

There are other points I may get to in the coming days, but I want to deal with these head on.

No, I have never been to Israel, but there are number of reasons I may visit some day. I do not qualify for Israeli citizenship and have no plans to ever live there.

I also do not know exactly how fast people in Israel have to be ready to run from Iranian rockets/drones, I just picked 15 seconds as a guesstimate of how quickly one would want to go from hearing air raid sirens to wanting to be in shelter. Perhaps I should have clarified, I don't know what the exact local standards are in terms of access to bomb shelters - only that it is a nationwide issue.

And how could the pager bombs be "war crimes," when they were about as surgical as it possible for a strike to be?

OHCHR reported the use of "exploding pagers" as follows:

"“Such attacks could constitute war crimes of murder, attacking civilians, and launching indiscriminate attacks, in addition to violating the right to life,” the experts said."

    https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2024/09/exploding-pagers-and-radios-terrifying-violation-international-law-say-un

Yes, many Israeli premises and homes have "protected rooms" but there is no "15 second" rule. Warnings of attack by missiles/drones from Iran would usually be at least an hour or two.

But to paint a picture of Israelis constantly living in abject fear is just wrong. Same with the "existential threat" canard. This is exactly what the Israeli govt. want the world to believe. It provides full justification for their aggression in the region resulting in War Crimes.

Look at the numbers of Israeli deaths in the last 5 years at the hands of external perpetrators - it's miniscule.

Conversely, the numbers of civilians killed is well into a six figure sum. Injuries substantially more than that.

At least you acknowledged your 15 second guesstimate was pulled out of thin air. But fantasy land guesstimates do not lend themselves to a reasoned discussion.

I trust your reasons for visiting Israel are compelling. They would have to be. Personally, I had hoped to return and visit more of the incredibly historic sites but I doubt that will happen now. And that is very regrettable.

Everything Israel does, every minute of every day, is aimed at removing all Palestinians from Palestine. Since the 1930s, Israel has pursued this ethnic cleansing and genocidal strategy. Western countries have supported and assisted them. Israel’s aggression has extended into neighbouring countries and that will happen at a much faster rate after the Palestinians have been dispelled. Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt all know the monsters that are coming their way to create a Greater Israel.

Israel has hesitated at murdering every Palestinian in Palestine although they have murdered well over 100,000 since October 2023. To placate the US, Germany, UK, etc. Israel is going to compromise by forcibly expelling millions of Palestinians to somewhere, anywhere, the more miserable the better as far as they are concerned.

The West’s response has been … to shake hands with Israeli war criminals, to visit them, to invite them to their countries, to speak in their defence, to protect them from exclusion from international activity, to support them militarily and financially, to whitewash the genocide and ethnic cleansing, and to accept financial bribes at a personal level.

Any opposition in foreign countries is being threatened with imprisonment. Israel is increasingly demanding that any criticism abroad must be illegal. This will progress to making it illegal to use the word Palestine and to call out the ethnic cleansing and genocide for the savagery and brutality that it is.

Direct military intervention against Israel is the only way to stop the ethnic cleansing and genocide.

Sean, you shouldn't say something isn't a warcrime, when you seem to have no idea what a warcrime is.

It is illegal to boobie trap a civilian device for starters. It also isn't surgical to set up explosions at a certain time whilst having no idea who could be holding said device or who could be around said device - the killings were indiscriminate. If it went off in a restaurant in Dublin and took families out I doubt you would consider it a genius move.

It was a state backed terror attack.

I hope your other points are a bit better than this.

The vast majority of posters can see the Israeli crimes against the Palestinians over the years and are fair about condemning them. They also condemned the Hamas attack on Oct 7th and this can be seen at the beginning of the thread. All people want to see is fair play but many of the pro-Israel posters can never seem to criticise anything Israel does. When fairness and Justice is reserved only for one side then the people who believe that they are not getting fairness or Justice will always react. It is a common trend all throughout history.

No doubt the actual numbers are far higher, but for every 10 active soldiers in the Israeli military just over 1 Palestinian child has been officially killed in just over 2 years.

I cannot believe that those sick evil cowards in Israel are going to ban doctors without borders. They are the lowest of the low.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

At least 12 innocent civilians (zero connection to Hezbollah in any way) were killed in the pager attacks, including two children and many hundreds of civilians were seriously injured. It was 100% a terrorist attack.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,593 ✭✭✭dmcdona

The 18,000 children killed directly by the IDF is almost certainly an underestimate. But the number also almost certainly does not include children who have died from:

    1. Lack of medical care
    2. Starvation and malnutrition
    3. Hypothermia
    4. Disease and infection from amputations and severe injury

And per @Cluedo Monopoly 's post, Israel is now banning various aid agencies who provide exactly that medical care, food and shelter.

Heard on RTE1 today that one organisation has been trying to get 5000 tents into Gaza and been continually denied by Israel.

Any cursory look at the numbers exterminated by Israel over the last two years would absolutely categorise the state as a terrorist killing machine that has no regard to humanitarian law. And that does not include what they are doing in Lebanon, Syria and the occupied territories.

I hope 2026 brings Israel exactly what it deserves.

On the numbers of children murdered, they certainly put Russia in the ha'penny place.

At the very least, they should comply with the ICJ decision - leave all illegally occupied areas and pay reparations to Palestine.

I believe that in 2027 that they will be found by the ICJ to have committed Genocide. That is the price they will pay.

    Genocidal State.

Alleged War Criminal (at large) and convicted felon at odds with each other. Popcorn time.

    Haaretz:
U.S. President Trump will allow the reconstruction of Gaza to begin, most likely in the cleared Rafah area, even before the disarmament of Hamas is completed, the remaining tunnels are destroyed and Gaza is demilitarized, sources close to PM Netanyahu told Haaretz, adding that Trump will ultimately not insist on eliminating Hamas.

Speaking to Fox News, Netanyahu said that any progress in the Gaza cease-fire depends on Hamas' total disarmament, adding that this means taking away "60,000 AK rifles… and breaking up the terror tunnels." Regarding the transition to the cease-fire's second phase, Netanyahu said "I think we have to give it a chance."

Funny how if a Palestinian kid chucks a rock, they are shot dead.

An Israeli kid who burns a home is waved away as "just a kid".

    Hypocrisy 101.

    Haaretz:
Netanyahu downplayed concerns about West Bank settler violence
in his Fox News interview, saying it was perpetrated by "a handful of kids, about seventy kids, not from the West Bank, teens who come from broken homes. They do things like chop down trees, and sometimes they try to burn a home." His comments came one day after Trump stated that he expects Netanyahu to "do the right thing" when it comes to the West Bank.

    Ethnic Cleansing.

Haaretz:"Soldiers and armed settlers stand by the yellow gate.

In a moment of calm between tear gas shells and stun grenades thrown by the military, a Palestinian family passes with items they collected from their badly damaged home on the outskirts of the [West Bank] town of Tarqumiyah.

The family had been expelled early on in the [Gaza] war, and soldiers and settlers are now preventing their return.

    The expulsion of Palestinians from their homes by settlers has become commonplace;

still, this marks a new development: the houses from which this family and their neighbors were expelled are in Area B – under Palestinian administrative control – where Israel and its soldiers, and certainly its settlers, are not permitted to expel anybody.

This situation would have been difficult to imagine just a few years ago, though in hindsight the early signs were clear"

some Israelis have a moral compass, unlike Smotrich.

    Haaretz:

More than 700 faculty members at Israeli universities and colleges signed a petition calling for the dismissal of far-right Finance Minister Smotrich and his prosecution for incitement to violence, after the minister called Supreme Court President Isaac Amit a "violent, ruthless megalomaniac" and said that the government "will run him over."

One of the signatories said that "anyone who threatens violence denies the fundamental essence of democracy, and therefore Minister Smotrich has no place in the political system."

They may well all just leave…

    Haaretz:

Israel's population growth fell to a new low in 2025, rising by just 0.9 percent, a study published Wednesday found, attributing the decline to lower birthrates, higher mortality, and chiefly to net negative migration. The study, conducted by demography expert Prof. Alex Weinreb, described the 0.9 rise in population as "an unprecedented decline," and said 2025 was a demographic turning point for Israel.

Banning the aid agencies is a nice gift to the Israeli population for New Years.

Israel is governed by a hateful crowd of demonic people and they are doing irreparable harm to the perception of the entire Jewish faith.

And the longer the Israeli population accept this and indeed advocate for it themselves in many instances, it is becoming harder and harder to separate these acts with the faith.

This action of banning aid groups should have the EU, the UN and the leaders of prominent countries coming out today with statements today saying they will immediately withhold aid/support to Israel until they reverse their decision.

But that won't happen, the best we can hope for is some weak utterings pleading that Israel does everything it can to allow aid get to the Palestinian people as they continue to suffer and Israel continues to manipulate the US in to again bombing Iran.

Aside from world leaders, every journalist, commentator, and anyone with a platform who attempts to continue to justify Israel's actions should forever hold their heads in shame.
