Slot has to go still. The results are better but the performances are still awful.

Such a simplistic view. You can't just drop anyone into the first team after months of not playing and expect them to shine, look at Isak for example. He did quite alot of good things including tracking back.

I believe the call was for him to get a proper run in the team over more than a few games and to see how he does then. Not to be dropped in for one match and then ignored completely for months again if he doesn't get a hat trick in said game. Klopp was brilliant at this and right now it is Slot's biggest weakness by some margin if you ask me. He needs to utilise his squad far better than he has up till now for us.

There is a serious lack of leadership out on the pitch to take a game like that by the scruff of the neck.

The team is full of PL winners, champions league winners and a world cup winner and not one of them looks confident enough to take control of that game or any game this season.

    Up to fourth. Slot out

The boys on Premier Sports are identifying the midfield as the biggest issue. Have to agree.

I don't think the switch to 2 6's has improved the team, if anything it's made us poorer defensively. If I was Slot, I'd revert to 4-3-3 with 2 8's. Let Gravenberch sit and provide some cover, with Jones and Szobozlai ahead.

Wirtz is clearly better wide left and Kerkez has benefited from him being there too.

The issues from set pieces just won't go away either. These are all genuine sticks to beat Slot with.

We're back to winning matches unconvincingly which is much nicer than losing them unconvincingly.

i think he should get to the end of the season. Results have improved. I feel like he needs some defenders and midfielders

I doubt they're going to sack him while Liverpool are 4th in the League!!!

Another 3 pts and unbeaten in 7 games. Regardless of tepid performances, Slot has turned it around. Today was a must win and we have. Its not like wolves were cutting through defence every attack. We actually defended quite well bar the goal. The ceding of possession late on in games is poor and needs to be remedied. Just get the 3pts against Leeds by whatever means necessary and take it from there.

    Ekiteke is a star

    Szoboslai is our future captain

    Wirtz gets better every game

Kerkez has been looking better the last month or so.

Frimpong looked like he hasn't been gone at all.

there are a lot of reasons to be optimistic about this squad, but it's really hard when you watch them constantly **** the bed.

No we won't get rid of Slot before season end but I can't see us improving past 4th/5th/6th this season. The manor of our performances are poor and the goal difference at the half way point is telling.

The style of football is awful

We used to score hat-fulls of goals with quick attacking play from turnovers of possession , now we turn over , pass back to back four let everybody reset and try the same boring approach play.

A team full of Premier league and World cup winners look devoid of Confidence even against the worst team in premier league history .

We have 7-8 international captains in the squad but apparently no leader with the ability to address the collapse when we concede a goal.

We have apparently no ability to address defending from set pieces.

We have players who regardless of form (Kirkez, Konate and Macca to name three ) never get drooped for more than a game .

Gotta say that all looks like the blue print of the wrong manager we are 18 games in and while results have improved , you fear what coming against a team that's not in the bottom 6 if they score a goal against us.

Wirtz is a joy to watch

He is not going to be sacked full stop. Only second person to win Liverpool the league in 35 years and people expecting him to be sacked 4 months into the season where the won the league. I don't think even Chelsea would do that..

I mean Liverpool were in the relegation zone under Hodgson and I was pretty much only person here saying he would be gone by Christmas (I was off by few weeks lol)

This was always a season of transition unfortunately once Jota tragedy happened. If you said back in May Liverpool would start a PL game in December without Jota, Salah, Nunez, Diaz and Gakpo and their new 125m signing Isak nobody would believe you yet that's what happened today. No team could undergo that much change and be expected to perform at same level as last season.

Who would you drop Konate for? And kerkez has improved over the last month(I know that wasn't hard),but he is the future so needs to be persisted with.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,016 ✭✭✭Dr Robert

Of course he isn't going to be sacked. It was never seriously on the cards imo and rightly so.

Yeah, that's the right midfield alright I think. For Wirtz, I'd play him nominally on the left side, but really with a free role to go wherever, which also opens the space for Ekitike to drop out there, which he loves to do, which in turn offers space for the RWF to come inside to more threatening positions.

It's a bit like Gerrards old 'right wing' role, which really was just a free role that allowed us a super strong Masch/Alonso/Sissoko trio in midfield.

    Another poor enough performance.

Thought we were OK in the first half, some structure and threatened. In the second, we were brutal.

Frimpong in midfield was atrocious, kept losing possession and inviting pressure on, buy as bad as he was, Alexis was atrocious,Jones was a little better but gave up possession regularly too.

The way to kill off a team is to get a hold of the ball, deny then possession, and frustrate them. We couldn't do this, kept giving the ball away stupidly and losing our sharp.

Hard to know what we were trying to do. When we won possession, we'd slow it down and then slowly play it into an area where we were outnumbered and lose it.

Gomez or Gravenberch could play CB for a couple of games

Kirkez is still terrible , headless and keeps putting the team under pressure

Robbo is miles better than him and should be played.

There is no future for this team if we keep playing like this .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,618 ✭✭✭giveitholly

Gomez can't stay fit so can't be tried centre half, the couple of games he was fit we had no right backs so he had to play there. We have 4 midfielders, are very threadbare there so can't afford to play Gravenberch as a centrehalf.

Imo the current Robertson is not miles better than Kerkez

Gomez is always injured or not fully fit and putting Grav there would not work at all. We are already light in midfield.

for all the money spent this season, they have left Slot with a lot to do. The way we are playing at the moment is a means to an end. It’s not ideal but it’s the way we need to play to get points on the board.

We need to find a Fabinho type player imo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,375 ✭✭✭Bandana boy

Kirkez is woeful , Robbo might not be what he was , but Kirkez is as bad a full back as the like of Moreno

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,618 ✭✭✭giveitholly

    Kerkez

Our last 3 goals conceded have all been corners, one of many big problems in the team

Nonsense he has been much better lately

Yeah that failed attempt at hiring a specialist set piece coach, right when set pieces have taken over the PL, has proven very costly.

yea, slot constantly calls it out too. It’s really weird that nothing has changed in that area. Like we know they have different coaches for different areas, does Slot want this guy Aaron Briggs moved on or something? He used to be a development coach but got moved around.

Is that a Richard hughes decision? Maybe the feeling is there has been enough upheaval and they don’t need any more

Wirtz was excellent today. Running the show

Frimpong also showing a lot of why he was bought
