Oh Linda, Linda, Linda. What did you really expect? We were shouting at the tv last week ‘don’t tell him’

It's very sad for everyone ,person with dementia and family .

Different types of dementia ..some progress quickly while others take years . My mother was the latter . Very very hard ..

Think they are doing the Nigel storyline very well .

i have feeling based on tonight’s show that Nigels story may be coming to a conclusion on Christmas Day.

They love a bit of death/misery on Christmas Day

I was wondering that. It sounded like that chrissy one from prison, but I doubt if it was.

I'd say it was Chrissy Watts. Zoe back, Sam Mitchell back, makes sense.

It looks like Anthony is dead or seriously injured.

Zoe rang the police and she was arrested.

It turns out its Chrissy Watts (Den's widow) that is responsible for the intimidation campaign against Zoe, but she's getting Jasmine to do do the graffifi, moving things around etc. I think Chrissy still holds a grudge against Zoe over Den's death.

Zoe knocked out Den, and thought that she had killed him. When Den woke up, Chrissy killed him by knocking him on the head with something (I think the Queen Victoria bust). Chrissy made Zoe think it was her that killed him. Chrissy only got out of prison last year I think. Zoe didn't go to prison. Maybe Chrissy feels that wasn't fair as both of them were involved.

I knew I was right. Anthony Trueman is dead. 😉

Kat was an even more annoying idiot than she usually is screeching on the street like a banshee.

Jasmine should run a mile from that toxic family.

    What was Sam's involvement?

I think Chrissie tried to frame Sam for Den's murder 20 years ago. She came to Zoe's aid in the pub on Christmas night. More like moral support.

The New Years Day episode is a flash forward to Jan 1st 2027.

    That should be interesting.

So bored of Max already, no matter how many times he messes up and gets another chance he still never changes, always with the ‘poor me’, he is such a man child,

That episode certainly left a lot of unanswered questions.

Really weird. What are they doing with Eastenders lately?

Very negative response to this episode online, but I'm intrigued. I love the unusual takes Eastenders does in recent years - the flashbacks (those young Mitchell brothers have been particularly excellent), the possible future visions (Linda's drunken coma) , and now the flashforward. Overall, I definitely think it's the strongest soap, but the past couple of months have been quite dull with the prolonged Zoe saga. I hope they can get back to some good solid storylines again now.

She was not involved in Den's death. However the Mitchells had longstanding feuds with the Watts.

Sam supported her brother Phil Mitchell in his long-running rivalry with Den Watts, including conflicts over business, bars, and control of Albert Square.

    • Sam tried to influence who in Walford supported the Mitchells vs the Watts, often working behind the scenes with other characters like Chrissie or Sharon.
    • For example, she encouraged tension between Den and other residents, subtly fueling arguments and mistrust.

I have to wonder about these flash forward episodes and what Eastenders would do if one of their cast members unexpectedly died or got sick or somehow left the show before the time the flash forward episode happens. Everyone who was in that episode is planned to be there for the next year now so if something did happen to a cast member, what would the show do then?

I’d hope that good writers, like Simon Ashdown, might have presented ways to explain any absences when the plan was first considered. Perhaps supplementary scenes have already been filmed, say for Patrick, which can also be used later on.

Also in soapland, people can be upstairs or visiting other family for extended periods only ever to be contacted off screen.

Good editing, even AI too maybe.

Difficult for viewers to accept maybe especially if it’s last minute or one of the more central characters.

Can't believe that Jean has not been brought to hospital for treatment .

I thought she was going to knife that girl last night and tonight she is clearly having a psychotic episode .

Alfie standing around shaking his head 😳
