Agreed - I was being sarcastic. But money talks in US politics and Vance would be a puppet just as Trump was - the money that those backers have way outguns anything the democrats can raise - the project 2025 guys think money is the most important thing. I used to believe in the innate good sense and decency of the American people - either that no longer exists or money can sweep it aside.

I'd be kind of glad he got elected if it weren't for all the death he caused.

Its at least finally lifted the veil on what the US is. A self serving, self absorbed, empathy free zone that has delivered death an destruction to all corners of the world since WW2.

I really hope the EU takes the opportunity to get out from under the thumb and not slide back to subservience should a new, more friendly faced administration emerge in 3years. For far too long they have wielded financial and military threat around the world to "friend" and foe. Any EU leader should be meeting any future US president as an equal.

He's also just made it OK for people to post whatever they want about Charlie Kirk and not be an assh*le because trump is an even bigger assh*le.

He's also made all the defenders and pearl clutchers of Kirk look foolish and stupid, again.

An American relative, a lifelong Republican, remarked shortly before her death that she didn’t want to go but at least she’d be spared three more years of Trump.

He's a degenerate in the most absolute terms, should have been rotting in a prison cell at this stage not back in the white house ruining America and everything else. What people see is what he's always been like it's just at this stage not only can he not shut up but he has no filter at all and it's all the worst on display. Also any Republican trying to play all upset is just trying to save their own ass at this stage, the tide is turning against them it's just that Americans can be so thick we all end up having to go through this the hard way instead of avoiding it all by simply doing some basic research and not voting for the same crowd of gobshítes that have been the cause or source of nearly all the economic issues of the last 40 years. All I can say is that when that rotten bastard keels over it will be the greatest celebration bar Putin going out a window.

But ‘the man’ in question is really us, the Western world. What he wants to burn down is the rule of law and democratic government.

I considered Misery to be a parable of married life but neither writer nor director saw it that way. Must be me.

Santa is definitely a democrat- like to have ICE on his ass as he drives his sleigh in US airspace.

Any thoughts on proposed new requirements to enter the US on the visa waiver program?

Under this proposal, social media posts of any type could be reviewed.

Poor taste is one way of putting it. But to think that someone would consider that that moment, whether two people see eye to eye on matters or not, was the moment in which to try and score some cheap points clearly illustrates how depraved an individual Trump is. There is a deep, deep, mental deficiency at the centre of this…"person"…that's extremely disturbing.

His first term may have been tempered by more even minded people, but this time with the likes of other sociopaths like Steven Miller knocking around the sickness involved is really getting laid bare. With every passing opportunity for the most minimal effort at statecraft or even just common decency, Trump fails each and every time. He couldn't even offer any genuine words of sorrow over Charlie Kirk's murder, but instead yapped about how great "his" ballroom was going to be. Someone that bent over backwards to laud Trump when he was alive too.

Trump is a sick, sick, thing. Someone that will say and do anything and everything if he thinks that there will be some sort of self aggrandisement involved. Some sort of fleeting adulation from certain quarters, just as depraved as him.

It's been said numerous times, but it's genuinely saddening that this is where we are now as a planet. That such a loathsome creature can operate at the highest levels of a nation and be in a position of responsibility for the welfare of that nation's citizens. If it were some back water banana republic it wouldn't be of paramount concern. But this is the US and I don't need to expand on how serious such a thing is…

…and there's three more years to go.

Trump mocking a murdered person, especially such a pillar of the society as Rob Reiner and his wife, is a new low.

Even hardcore Trump supporters like his ex lawyer Jenna Ellis criticising what Trump said.

He hasn’t the slightest idea of how somebody in his position should behave. Imagine not even bothering to wait and see what the cause of death was before sending out a message like that.

Trump puts $31bn tech prosperity deal with UK on ice due to lack of progress in tariffs.

    The sooner the better.

I'd prefer to see him rot in jail but I fear that would only galvanize his cult.

Be lovely if he could take the whole rotten family as well.

Never thought the time would come when such a vile character as Trump would get elected to such a high office and no matter what millions still are on his side .

They shoud really just counter sue for 100bn. He called the bbc 100% fake news, that's a high bar he's set himself to defend!

The BBC should take a leaf out of the Pulitzer Prize Board's book, and hit him with some juicy discovery demands:

Pulitzer Prize Board seeks Trump tax returns, psych records

I somehow don't think Trump wants the BBC's (very good) lawyers digging around the "who said what to whom and when" of Jan 6th 2021…

Trump’s statement on that man’s murder does not need any response. He has responded , more than adequately, to it himself. So we got ‘ two for the price of one’ as they say. It’s beyond GUBU territory

This will just end up in a settlement. Trump has form for this. He likes to bluster and posture for the media but when it gets to closed doors, there'll be a complete climbdown.

He is just doubling down on his remarks about Reiner now.

Despicable pig, I do hope there is a lot of pain in Trumps future.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,386 ✭✭✭✭ancapailldorcha

There's probably a lot of pain in his present based on bruises and ankles. It's funny that you call him a pig given how much McDonald's he devours.

The moral and intellectual unravelling of conservatism into Trumpism has really been something to behold.

I'd be thinking of the other countries and international pacts [like the EU] informing the State Dept, through their embassies, that should the U.S proceed with the idea, they would apply the same five (5) year personal data requirement to U.S citizens in advance of entry to their countries and international pacts, reminding the state dept officials that niceties must be observed.
