Jimmy Kimmel suggested he had watched part of the Captain Philips movie and thought it was a news bulletin.

Apologies, I was imprecise in my use of language. I used "how" not in the sense of "by which mechanism", but how does one thing follow from the other when they appear contradictory.

Of course it's not about me. It was you who chose to get personal with the ad hominem attack - usually a sign of someone who doesn't want discussion.

If you care to read back, you'll see my first contribution in this phase of the thread was to ask @Manic Moran why he picked vaccines out of all the reasons to disagree with Trump. Others picked up my response to Manic, and I answered them. If you've read the MAHA EO then you'll see my point about US healthcare metrics being inferior to those in Europe is very much on topic.

Are you talking about Hep B rather than HPV? If you're going to brand me an anti- vaxxer (as previously mentioned I'm only anti lies) at least get your vaccines right.

    Alleged drugs boats.

And of course they can. Oil is more valuable than human life to the US.

    Everything Trump touches he destroys:

The excellent Michael Wolff has a word for the Trump regime: a "moronocracy". Gongrats to former Secreyaty of Syate Tillerson who referred to to DJT as an F—-ing moron 8 years ago.

The thing is getting rid of vaccines will make America less healthy. It's an anti vaxxer pushing his nonsense.

But anecdotage is no use here. "All the people aero2k knows" is not a population from which we can meaningfully draw any useful conclusions about the utility or otherwise of this vacccine. We're looking for much larger-scale data than this.

And the standard we're looking for is not "no vaccinated people getting Covid". Just as we don't have perfect knowledge, we also don't need perfect efficacy. The vaccine has utility if the proportion of vaccinated people who get Covid in the period after vaccination is materially lower than the proportion of unvaccinated people who get Covid in a similar period, and/or if vaccinated people have experience of Covid which is materially less severe than the experience of unvaccinated people (i.e. if they tend to have shorter illness, quicker recovery, less pronounced symptoms, a lower rate of development of long covid, etc.)

And Trump has the gall to call other countries sh1tholes.

By the time RFK is done, they'll have re-established diseases thought to have been eradicated in medieval times

not really . I suppose for my argument , I should have divided the immigration ‘ sector’ into three types of individuals ie economic migrants;, migrants fleeing war, persecution and such ‘challenges; and those individuals that come to Ireland having been offered employment, have money to buy a house in Ireland and want to retire here and suchlike reasons.
my suggestion is towards helping to resolve The issues that lead to the first and second type migrant

The stupid thing is of course that people having contrary opinions about Trump on their social media affects no one and is not any particular danger to the country. It only offends Trump's pride. Tourism is going down the tubes because he cannot cope with criticism.

Miller is definitely the driving force behind most of the policies. When Trump goes on a rant, most of the points have been fed to him via Miller. Hes such a sneaky fcuk that he manages to keep on the low down, driving the agenda but knowing that he doesn't want to be in the firing line whenever all this goes south. He's definitely a key driver in regards to NATO and the anti EU stuff.

Theres a golden opportunity here for Europe to steal the US's lunch. The reason a lot of startups head for the US is that theres so much less red tape, in getting registered, legal differences country to country, rules around stock options. I see the EU is finally grasping the nettle and trying to establish a Pan European standard which companies and investors can gain confidence and assurance. https://www.eu-inc.org/

This could be game changing. Companies like Stripe stay in Europe rather than going to the US. Our best tech minds stay in Europe. Europe really has so much more going for it than the US if it gets its act together and starts to act cohesively. Its access to culture, history, education, infrastructure, is light years ahead of the US. Generally, educated, high earners would far prefer to flit between London, Rome, Paris and Monaco, than Washington, New York, LA and Miami.

With a cohesive military on top with a strong defensive capability showing if you take us on, you're going to suffer badly and we have the opportunity to become the parallel power to China, rather than the US.

"Aligning the (state) department's practice with this standard ensures our communications reflect the same dignity, consistency, and formality expected in official government correspondence," the spokesperson said.

lol. Have any of these people seen Donald Trump's social media posts?

Trump's insane racist rants about the EU and European leaders are beyond the pale.

In particular, his comments about London Mayor Kahn were unbelievable:

Using highly incendiary language, Trump singled out London’s left-wing mayor, Sadiq Khan, the son of Pakistani immigrants and the city’s first Muslim mayor, as a “disaster” and blamed his election on immigration: “He gets elected because so many people have come in. They vote for him now.”

He also said 'they have a mayor called Kahn', and 'he is a horrible, vicious, disgusting Mayor.'

Yet at the same time, he was actually fawning over 'Mamdani', and 'Patel' is head of the FBI.

Politico interview here where Trump speaks about Europe from about 9:30.

Glad to see Starmer pushed back in PMQs to say American interference in European politics is unacceptable, but the US has quickly become an adversary (or even an enemy) of Europe and the EU. He has also said clearly that 'the EU was formed to screw US', despite the US being a proponent of the EUs formation post WWII.

Trump's naked support for Russia, and attacks against Europe, the EU, and NATO are completely unacceptable. We need stronger push back against the US, and against e.g. Hungary in the EU, and against Israel. We need to be stronger as a bloc politically, and we need to be self reliant militarily and therefore in our military industrial capacity.

European leaders (and Rutte in particular in NATO) also need to stop kissing the ass of this sonofabitch, and fawning over him. We need to tell him we don't appreciate his foreign policy strategy, his interference, and his support for Russia and Israel, his economic wars and tariff nonsense, in addition to his disregard/ hostility/ attacks on the UN, ICC, ICJ, the ECHR etc., war crimes, and blatant corruption.

Did the exact same with his 6 bankruptcies, run the debt up to absolute max with bankers/suppliers and anyone else giving credit, its a business plan of the Mafia, Tony did it in the Sopranos on a restaurant.

    Totally premeditaded.

I suppose we could crash the economy so spectacularly that we no longer need people to come to the country to help fill the roles needed to be filled that help keep the economy ticking over and maybe help to create world peace so that nobody is displaced and needs to take refuge from conflict. Should be easy enough to solve…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,916 ✭✭✭threeball

If they want to talk about countries getting screwed, let them have a look at what the US did to Britain during and after WW2. I doubt many Brits would think the relationship was so "special" if they knew their history and that the US actively used Britains desperation to bankrupt the country. The US continued on this path in the 8 decades since. Its about time they got a taste of their own medicine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,392 ✭✭✭✭ancapailldorcha

If Britons knew their own history, they would not have voted for Brexit and we wouldn't have a pound shop Enoch Powell leading the polls here.

It's mad how a war with Venezuela is coming right when the Epstein files are about to be released.

To be honest, I don't think he's smart enough for that kind of preplanning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 2,903 ✭✭✭aero2k

I've no doubt you are correct. But using vaccines in a more targeted way, along with less indiscriminate use of prescription medication, particularly polypharmacy, would bring great improvements in health.

BTW I haven't heard if anyone suggesting vaccines should be gotten rid of. I certainly didn't say it, nor do I think.it.

It's clear he's not the one running the show, you can see that with all these executive orders he signs. Someone puts it in front of him, tells him what it's about and boom: Signed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,327 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

Or someone puts it in front of him and says, sign this. Telling him what its about might be an exercise in futility.
