Our local national school is closing and Aer Lingus have just cancelled my flight from Knock to Heathrow tomorrow afternoon.

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message, however a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

The Icon has upped the ante yet again. It shows a strip of red level winds moving up through the country tomorrow afternoon. Erm it's showing a nationwide red tbh, for approximately 2 hours!!

Like most places all the Christmas decorations are up definitely a danger when out and about, Galway has a huge Christmas market with a large ferris wheel I'm sure they will be looking at opening tomorrow .

Icon has a tendency to overdo wind speeds a bit and I really hope it is at it again

Gerry said an upgrade to orange level for a few additional counties on the 9pm news. Met website will be updated within the next 20 mins.

Met Éireann has gone offline on desktop, but the app is still working for now!

Yeah the 12Z Arpege had the southeast, particularly Wexford bearing the brunt of it, nothing too worrying though. But the way things are evolving the 12Z is ancient history now. The 18Z will be rolling out soon and will probably look very different. I'm keeping a close on this one for my location in Wexford as I have to drive rural roads tomorrow at about noon and the ground is very waterlogged, not good for stability of tree roots!

Why is the east coast still yellow? Are the winds not looking similar for these locations?

I am glad I put off putting up the decorations outside now. It really is strange how there is such model divergence at this late stage. I wonder will the models making less of an event of it back the Harmonie or will the Harmonie downgrade yet. Met Eireann obviously don't think so

Even as an enthusiast your head would be melted trying to keep up with different warnings — colours times wind rain etc.

IIt's a bit over complicated. They should abandon the county warning and just go with provinces

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 154 ✭✭lcasey90

    Forget provinces go country

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,085 ✭✭✭irishfeen

Christ … a fairly shaky weather forecast from Gerry Murphy there after the news … tripping up an awful lot trying to explain the warnings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,985 ✭✭✭happyoutscan

Could red warnings be announced over night?

Bit difficult as conditions in Louth completely different to Wexford which is in orange warning.

Gfs 18z has upgraded significantly!! A red warning is now becoming more likely

Oh please make it a red, we are borderline red anyway. Could do with a day off!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 621 ✭✭✭Ros4Sam24

Gfs coming into line (to a degree) still weaker than most models

Sorry if this has already been answered but what time roughly will it start to get windy, overnight or more morning time, interested in Cork area, so calm here at the moment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,329 ✭✭✭adocholiday

Red based on the 18z GFS? Unlikely, looking at the forecasted gusts it's still a non event for the GFS really.

So basically 12 noon to 4pm it's at it's worst. Coinciding with school closures I'm inclined to think a red is justified across the South, West and Midlands with a nationwide orange. No way are we finished with upgrades here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,291 ✭✭✭Dazler97

Im also glad I am not putting out my Christmas decorations till Wednesday because if I did and they broke I'd be fuming, it's like my Christmas tree lights I had them on decorated it and the next day they broke, had to take everything off and put new ones on hahahaha
