Horizon Forbidden West i think had an option to slow her down with the hints. They had a few good QoL options in there iirc. But I just picked up Echoes of the End, and it has tips, but you've to press a button to ask for it. Simple idea that solves the issue.

I think they had to patch that in in HFW, same with the ability to turn down how often she comments on everything she's doing.

"These will come in useful" - Yeah Aloy, I know, that's why I've collected eleventy-billion of them so far and you've made that comment at least 40% of those times.

    Just let me be stuck!

It’s up there as a peeve of mine with a game over screen prompting “you can change the difficulty at any time in settings” after a couple of deaths.

    Fúck you too game!

Don't play the lego one so! I've played an hour only and shes already repeating everything, an the irony is one of her comments when breaking stuff is "That never gets old"...

One accessibility option that was first to be turned on in Horizon and other games that has it is the auto pickup and remove the pickup animation.

Now does Metroid Prime have yellow paint everywhere too follow?

Don't expect to play PS2 games well on that. Emulation even on PC just isn't there yet. A lot of games will be very slow or glitchy but there are a decent amount that run playably. GC emulation is less intensive so if there's a GC version of a game it's worth trying if ps2 gives issues.

From what I've seen on youtube they play well at 2x resolution.

Started up Horses, the 'banned from Steam / Epic' game lighting up games media at the moment. This is one I'd have been interested in regardless, given Santa Ragione's great track record of interesting releases.

Only half an hour in to what is presumably a relatively short experience (given the €5 entry price and structure of the game), but what's most striking is the superb presentation - unsurprisising perhaps given one of their last published games was the wonderfully vibrant Mediterranea Inferno. It uses the language of cinema in really interesting ways - actions cutting away to visceral short video clips, silent movie tricks like intertitles for dialogue, and some very extreme close-ups and dramatic edits to create the sense that things aren't right. The game around it is a fucked-up spin on the farming sim - where within minutes of playing you graduate from picking vegetables to digging a grave for one of the horse-mask wearing slaves the farmer keeps on his farm.

So far some of the content is definitely unsettling and bleak - the content warning at the start isn't kidding about - though also very black comic and absurd. Though the pixellation of the explicit, disturbing nudity makes the game's removal from all the storefronts patently ridiculous, regardless of the extreme themes explored. Clearly farcical this isn't allowed when so many more overtly pornographic sex games and tryhard 'edgy' slop is.

Trailer comes with a NSFW caveat, of course :)

There's reports of problem games which are the usual culprits on the PS2 emulators that run quite slowly. Usually the less popular stuff that hasnt been optimized yet.

Sure I'll report back after xmas 😁 The FB group I'm in hasn't mentioned it either.

You just have to be realistic with PS2 emulation that there might be issues with some games. Most should be playable to the end with a few with quirks or not working.

JU positively reviewing Horses was definitely not on my bingo card 😂

Anyway, forget The Game Awards, the real talk of the gaming world is the Boards Fantasy League. Johnny and I are the only ones with games still to release so as long as Terminator 2D gets at least 71 on metacritic, I'll claim glorious 3rd place.... Unless JU's FOUR remaining games launches him to gold! The excitement of it all!!

How am I still 3rd? I thought I'd bomb and it kept predicting me as ending up last?

Does anyone know how long it takes to becomes a games reviewer, get a job at 14 different games websites, and give Marvel Cosmic Invasion 10/10 on each site?

    Asking for a friend...

Interested in this for next year if there's space.

Nice one, the more the merrier!

I'll be starting it sometime in the new year 👍️

I picked up dying light the beast and expedition 33 on BF sales. Tried DL and it's awesome! Fire any fans of the series, this is a big improvement over 2. I'm only on the first few story missions but it's so intense. The introductory night mission is scarier than anything in DL 2, they really got back to their horror roots on that one.

Looking forward to starting E33 as well.

Wow, Hogswart Legacy is a looker. Started it a couple of days ago but only got into it properly this weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,784 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

It's a really well made game, and they captured the essence of Hogwarts perfectly. The castle and grounds are brilliantly made and it really does feel alive and real. But the tone of the story is all over the place. It flips between dark serious and childlike. Still, I enjoyed my time with it, even though I never finished it because I got bored around the 50 hour mark. But I'd done as much as I could.

Also, the Haunted Hogsmede quest is one of the best quests I have played in a long time. Pity the rest of the game wasn't more like it.

For me, Hogwarts Legacy is incredible until the story moves outside of Hogwarts where it becomes mind numbingly repetitive and the open world is one of the emptiest in recent open-world game history.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,784 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

100%, if they had limited it to Hogwarts and maybe even Hogsmeade, it would have been better, and a better length. Would have needed a different story though.

I know it's the time of year with others asking and seeing iseedeadpixels post above and not being able to think what else to get him, I'm thinking of picking up a retro handheld for my brother as well. Just that one is a bit expensive. So was thinking maybe the Miyoo Flip V2 but will try and do more research this evening when not at work.
