As I parent myself, I have to admit that I also have some small bit of sympathy for the Burke kids. They have been utterly failed by their parents. Look at the latest on the 'conveyor belt', Elijah. He's graduated with a law degree and about to embark on his professional career. But he is seen on TV giving the future President a hard time. And in the last few days he has made a YouTube post criticising the High Court Judge that dared to have a bad word said about Enoch. Any CV he will send out when he is looking for a job will be filed in the waste paper basket. By my reckoning that is at least 40% of the siblings that are totally unemployable. And the blame for this rests at the feet of the parents.

I read somewhere that when you have a family cult, it takes one to break away first. I wonder who will be the first (if any)?

There is quite a few negative comments directed at Enoch in this thread.

You/we are all entitled to our opinions and with this WONDERFUL social media outlet(Boards)we are fully entitled to share them with the World. People reading such comments are also entitled to assume that the people making these negative comments are at ease and totally comfortable with the education system in Ireland providing information to Children that they could possibly change their sex. Imagine making young children aware that such a thing exists!?

While obviously there are boys and there are girls, and that's it, this lad is imposing millions of costs on taxpayers, between the Gardaí, the Courts and the prison, so at this stage I want those costs reduced to zero.

Let him protest in his own time, at his own cost, yes, but at zero cost to the taxpayer.

Nobody can change sex. There are men, and there are women. That's it. We all know that this is the case.

However, Burke is imposing costs on taxpayers with his bonkers tactics.

Every penny of cost he imposes on taxpayers should be recovered.

I dont see many people here discussing the rights and wrongs of transgenderism on this thread so you are wrong to assume what peoples views are on that. And thats because most people are mainly concerned with the law. There are plenty of laws that people dont like but that doesn't give anyone permission to break them.

I don't know what point you are trying to make about boards by sarcastically calling it WONDERFUL. Its the same forum that allows you to freely express your opinion. Maybe you want a forum where everyone agrees with you but that's not how this one works.

I’d hazard a guess at deflection. Trying to cause an off topic argument to get the thread locked.

When the simple fact remains that the thread will go into hibernation now that Enoch is staying in state provided accommodation and can’t do any of his wifflewaffle jackanapory at the school.

Unless one of the other Burke’s indulges in some silly carry on (quite possible) or the idiots who (incorrectly) think he’s in jail for his religious beliefs and personal opinions start acting up he’ll be semi forgotten about until the next time he is in front of the courts

I was aware it existed during my childhood.… Coronation Street literally introduced a transgender character back in the 90s. You'd be surprised by the amount kids are aware of regardless of if it's mentioned in the class room. And this is teenagers we're talking about btw..

First of all he should be jailed in Cork, as far away from Mammy as possible. She'd be devastated.

It is quite apparent that mammy doesn't give a crap about her kids given that she is content to see & help them destroy their careers.

It really does seem like she doesnt care about them or their futures. It would be interesting to see how she'd respond to a stint in prison herself. She may not be as ebullient when its her facing more time locked up.

you’re forgetting that she probably thinks she’s on a religious crusade and has the right and might of god on her side. Anything she has to go through, or anything her children have to go through is all right because it’s in his name.

She’s of the same ilk as those who flew passenger planes into buildings, she’s doing it for her god and therefore it’s all good in the hood

Did the protest take place at Mount joy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,264 ✭✭✭Westernview

Id still be interested in seeing that confirmed. Up to now she had the ideal scenario. Someone else serving prison time while she was free to harrass people and make speeches on social media. If she was she may enjoy the martyrdom to some degree but her ego would have to accept the lack of attention.

There's video on tiktok, apparently there was a protest outside Mount Joy. It was on Friday and the day was so wet.

    Pointless protest.

I was in Dublin yesterday doing some Christmas shopping and I was walking past the GPO at about 2.45pm and there was a group protesting and someone shouting about Christ and then there was chanting about 'free Enoch Burke'.

Again, such a pointless protest. Hes the only one that can free himself.

"On the other hand how do you deal with someone that's beyond reason?"

Maybe Grimey Burkey could volunteer for some electroshock therapy.

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

Yesterday at mass, our parish priest had a group of young primary school children participate in the ceremony. They said a few prayers, sang a hymn and lit a candle for advent. Usual stuff for the time of year.

Anyway, for his sermon he proceeded to use his speech to talk about the unholiness of puberty blockers, the unnecessary death of Charlie Kirk for standing up for his beliefs, the education system leaning towards unholiness in allowing the addition of more than 2 genders, the responsibility of parents in ensuring their children weren't indoctrinated in such ideals and finally the unlawful jailing of Enoch Burke for standing up for his beliefs. Pretty much a full support Burke family spiel.

Would your PP be in support of someone who stood up in their seat at the end of that mass and started to give out about the Catholic Church and how he ran the parish. Them ran after him and harassed him loudly after the mass, in front of everyone, when the children and their parents were having tea and sandwiches in the community centre.

Nothing to do with his beliefs, he can believe anything he wants. He was dismissed for misconduct at a meeting and jailed for ignoring a court order to stay away from the school.

But when have the the church had anything to do with facts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,264 ✭✭✭Westernview

The irony of a Catholic priest accusing another organisation of indoctrination. And then defending the Burkes who are an extreme example of indoctrination within a family home.

But of course it has to be repeated yet again that he wasnt jailed for his beliefs.

I'm just relaying what he said, not supporting it. Anyone i talked to afterwards weren't happy with his sermon and the fact that so many younger children were present and felt it was a very inappropriate sermon for an advent mass.

I'd be leaving that Church, honestly. I remember a sermon where the minister brought up Ian Paisley and Northern Ireland. It did not go down well. We ended up leaving that Church.

Organised religion is probably the biggest curse on humanity - it does nothing but sow the seeds of hatred since over centuries.

I remember being at a mass in Perth, Western Australia during Lent and the priest went all homophobic. I got up and walked out. If any other company had a large proportion of its employees as paedophiles the company would be shut down - the Catholic Church is a joke.

Why would you give a creepy man like that oxygen? Honestly. I'd actually be embarrassed to be listening to a sermon like that in 2025.

I remember the first divorce referendum and the priests basically telling people how to vote. A cohort of people walked out. Not an easy thing to do back then. I didn't full understand what was going on but my respect for those people has grown and grown as the years went by.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

I go to mass most Sundays, I meet a few friends every Sunday after mass and we go for breakfast. Its a sort of ritual with us. I like my Sunday mornings. Anyway he is an outspoken man on many issues. Without naming him, I won't bother giving him any credit, he has made national headlines himself during covid for refusing to close his then church, in another parish, and conducting mass open to the public. He has a following and indeed still gets loads of outside people who come to his masses.

lol if Burke were to be included on the simpsons, he'd look pretty similar to Grimey. Although I'm pretty sure Burke doesn't like whores 😁

No sorry I cannot understand it. I just couldn't implicitly support someone like that through attendance. Does anyone ever stand up and object to his nonsense?

You could meet friends for breakfast without having to listen to a creepy old man telling you what to think.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?
