there are a questions here .. 1. Does Trump really believe this is a genuine award ..

2 . Or is he laughing inside say look what I can make you do ?

2 Or is Trump and FiFA just taking the complete piss ..

I have a feeling part of him thinks he is getting a real award and everyone thinks he is great .. if this is the case he has absolutely no level of awareness and has diminished mental capacity.. I couldn’t even try to put my head space into such a level of disengagement..

I'd say he believes in his own greatness and this is confirmation however pathetic it is.

This is a " man" who has various heads of departments sit around a table and fluff his ego with praises.

And as the Irish Times put it Blatter "at least possessed a sort of Bond villain charisma"

He certainly wouldn't be crawling around and bending over like an emaciated sex slave.

What do you recon that FIFA mysteriously don’t bother with a Peace Prize again after this? Not sure what is more pathetic. Donnie’s pathological need for his “special big boy” award, or FIFA being a pathetic toadie to those needs. This is the same FIFA that let Donnie just take the FIFA Club World Cup home with him. Instead of insisting that he gave back what he stole in broad daylight, FIFA ending up giving a replica trophy to the winners (who were not even a US team).

Bet they do some followup thing with Trump during the world cup and that's the entirety of it.

$40m for Melanawhores documentary from Bezos. The director was one of the perpetrators of abuse that was caught out by #Metoo, but that doesn't matter. This travesty's coming out soon to a, well, TV set near you.

I wonder if Melania's fake immigration status (Einstein Visa? Lol) will be featured. Maybe she can be deported by ICE

If they had really wanted it to be a 'Peace Prize' it would have been designed with cupped hands gently holding and supporting the world, not grabbing at it with clawing fingers. I reckon it was deliberate, like every other detail of the 'ceremony'.

They were safe in the knowledge that the recipient on every occasion it will be given will be an artisically illiterate buffoon who would not understand subtlety or symbolism if it were explained in one syllable words, in large crayon letters.

Concerns about the new US National Security Strategy. Russia has praised it.

Note that the US for the first time since 1999 did not attend the NATO summit a few days ago.

It says Europe is facing "civilisational erasure", and accuses Europe of democratic backsliding. It accuses Europe if suppressing freedom of speech. It does not accuse Russia of doing so. It also talks about acheiving "strategic stability with Russia".

“The days of the United States propping up the entire world order like Atlas are over,” the document says, adding that the administration will work towards restoring “American preeminence in the Western Hemisphere.”

Gérard Araud, France's ambassador to the U.S. from 2014 to 2019, posted on the X platform that “the stunning section on Europe reads like a far-right pamphlet.”

He added: "The document's claims of 'civilizational erasure' are a direct attack on the fundamental values of the European project."

Former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt also took to X to express his exasperation.

“The only part of the world where the new [U.S.] security strategy sees any threat to democracy seems to be Europe,” he posted. "Bizarre."

Germany’s foreign minister, Wadephul, said his country did not need "outside advice" and addressed the security implications of Trump’s new stance.

"The United States is and will remain our most important ally in the [NATO] alliance," Wadephul said. "This alliance, however, is focused on addressing security policy issues.

"I believe questions of freedom of expression or the organization of our free societies do not belong [in the newly published U.S. strategy], in any case at least when it comes to Germany," the minister added. …………

While the Biden strategy emphasized “constraining” Russia and condemned its “brutal and unprovoked war,” Trump talks about achieving “strategic stability” with Moscow. The strategy also stresses the need to reallocate American resources.

“The days of the United States propping up the entire world order like Atlas are over,” the document says, adding that the administration will work towards restoring “American preeminence in the Western Hemisphere.”

On the need to cease NATO expansion, the strategy specifies that emphasis should be placed on “ending the perception, and preventing the reality, of NATO as a perpetually expanding alliance.”

America has said yes to Trump twice. Europe needs to find out if this is the final answer. How strong will Trump be after the midterms and will Trumpism live on in the next administration? If gold-painted gringo imperialism is indeed the new face of that country then Europe will have to change and fast. We’ll need a common defence policy in the EU for every country to sign up to. Needless to say, if Orbán wins again he should have no place in our community of nations. Many other questions will also have to be considered, eg, does Germany need nuclear weapons?

Only skimmed it but I think Europe came up 50 times in it - far more mentions than USs traditional threats that might be referenced in this kind of a document.

Criticism, conspiracy theories, dark suggestions we won't be US "allies" in future (unless of course we see sense and get back on the "right" track, abandon the EU, put corrupt MAGA mini-me parties in power that will fawn appropriately before Trump and Putin).

Dire stuff, but yet another big warning siren sounded that our normal, centrist politicians in Europe, who still have power for now, should be paying attention to and acting on.

Can he be any more blatantly racist and egotistical at the same time?

MAGA influencer Tim Pool claims someone in a passing car opened fire on his home.

Tim Pool was one of those associated with Tenet Media, which a report found was funded by Russia. Pool has always claimed he didn't know Russia was funding it. According to Pool and others, they claim they were unaware of the Russian funding or the alleged backing by RT

    • According to a 2024 federal indictment in the U.S., a media company (referred to as “Company-1” in the indictment) is widely reported to be Tenet Media, which allegedly received nearly US$10 million from employees of RT (the Russian state-backed broadcaster) for producing and distributing content aimed at U.S. audiences. AP News+2Them+2
    • That company is said to have contracted a set of conservative / right-leaning influencers to produce content — and the list of influencers matches those publicly associated with Tenet Media, including Tim Pool (alongside Dave Rubin, Benny Johnson, Lauren Southern, and others).
    • According to the indictment, one unnamed commentator (matching Pool’s profile: ~1.3 million subscribers) was paid substantial sums under contract for weekly “episodes.”

A group of Trump supporters in California are planning a Disneyland invasion in the on the same date as a gay-friendly gathering scheduled at the popular theme park. The Southern California-based 805 Patriots announced the event at the Anaheim amusement park in February, coinciding with a 'Gay Days' get-together set for the same date. 'American Patriots and Conservatives will come together for a peaceful, family-oriented meetup at Disneyland Park,' the group said in a release. 'This event will take place on February 28, 2026, for a day celebrating in the "Happiest Place on Earth" with like-minded people that support our President and Great Nation.'

None of those sunken Venezuelan boats would have had the range to get within 2,000 Km. of the U.S.

If they were carrying drugs, more likely to be cocaine than fentanyl - the vast majority of which enters the U.S. from Mexico - that were destined for Suriname, then the U.S. was doing more to prevent them reaching Europe than the U.S.

US 2025 National Security Strategy calls deterring a China-Taiwan conflict a priority. It says such a war would have "major implications for the US economy".

The strategy document calls deterring a conflict over Taiwan a “priority,” and says the ideal way to achieve that is by “preserving military overmatch.”

It says a war between Taiwan and China would have “major implications for the U.S. economy.”

Taiwan’s foreign ministry welcomed the U.S. position in a social media post on Friday morning: “The US National Security Strategy affirms that deterring conflict over Taiwan is essential to the region & the world,” it wrote on X.

The document emphasizes that the U.S. should aim to maintain dominance in the Western Hemisphere, an obvious nod to China’s growing relationship with Latin American and Caribbean nations, through expanding trade routes and political alliances.

CNN today saying a poll in Latin America shows 53% support for US military action to remove Maduro. Came up in a discussion with an ex Colombian president.

Trump was also asked is it just Venezuela that could be targeted and he said "no" and accused Colombia of growing drugs too.

US officials have called on Europe to take over most NATO capabilities by 2027 according to European officials familiar with the discussions. Some European diplomats call that unrealistic.

Recently, the US says it would like Germany to take charge of the role of NATO Supreme Commander in Europe. This role has traditionally been held by an American. This startled those present.

It does look like leaving NATO by stealth, or weakening the US role in it.

US National Security Strategy for 2025 calls for the US to get more involved in European politics (a nod to supporting Far Right parties) to "cultivate resistance to Europe's current trajaector within European nations" and noting, positively "the growing influence of patriotic European parties".

The document calls for the U.S. to take a more active role in the continent’s political affairs, including by “cultivating resistance to Europe’s current trajectory within European nations.” It also notes, positively, “the growing influence of patriotic European parties”—likely a reference to far-right, anti-immigration parties that have earned the public backing of the Administration.

That National Security Strategy has a lot of not very subtle, dangerous stuff in it. Promoting far right parties in Europe, making claims about the weakness of Europe, telling Europe to accept Putin as a positive influence, suggesting that the US needs to meddle in Europe's affairs - apparently we need considerable diplomatic intervention from the US. I was not aware they had any diplomats. Its one of the more unnerving things to come out of the US. Along with military drones nosing around places they should not be. Its time for Ireland to join NATO - I know this is not a discussion for this thread, but we need to start paying attention.

It`s time the E.U. started playing Trump and Co. at their own game, and do like he did with Argentina.

Make it clear to Hungary if Orban or anyone else leading Fidesz wins the 2026 election they will receive no further funding from the E.U.

As they are now under Orban and Fidesz they are snakes at the heart of the E.U. while being among the highest per capita recipients of E.U. funding.

Knowing how closeted the MAGA supporters tend to be, it's likely they're going in the hopes of hooking up.
