hi all, I have my HEO interview this week and I was wondering for anyone who done the interview previously - did the board signpost when they were moving onto the next dimension / sub-dimension?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81 ✭✭maryfay

    Yes they did

Yes in fairness to the board, they were very clear & articulate about moving on to each question, dimension & sub dimension at all times.

Interview board were very clear about all ellements. You need to be able to explain why you chose your report and be able to answer questions related to the report.

has anyone had interview recently and what type of questions were asked on presentation and capabilities. TIA

do you know what oom they are on as I’m guessing it will be after Christmas for next batch of interviews

Just finished my interview 20 minutes ago. The board were absolutely lovely and try to relax you straight away. So they asked questions like who do you look up to for their leadership style and why and what is your leadership style. How do you deal with different stakeholders with different info. Didn't really give much time to giving your examples for each capability but more questioned you on the capability. I let myself down on leadership questions but It is done now and in God's hands. Best of luck to anyone going for interview.

I say you smashed it. Wow so good to know. Was there many questions on presentation

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81 ✭✭maryfay

I had a good few questions on the presentation and they were tough so just know it inside out. The interview was as said above with a few curveballs like how do you plan and prioritize when you have a few projects running together. When have you had to make a decision not having the full information. Lots and lots is probing questions into the capabilities. Best of luck. I felt I let myself down in leadership as well but aced it thank god

Just why did I pick this subject and did I think I would get the go ahead to proceed with it if I tried and if no why and if yes why. The questions on the report are fairly straightforward and they are not trying to trip you up just want to know you have actually researched the topic and know what you are talking about

Delighted you passed I dont know if I will be that lucky but I gave it my best shot and after being nearly kicked out for alleged AI content and having to redo my report I am just glad it is all over now :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81 ✭✭maryfay

Oh dear, there were a few of you weren't there 😂 but that's brilliant. I can only imagine the stress after that and having to redo the whole thing. It's not like it was easy in the first place. I was really on the fence about whether I got it or not but was pleasantly surprised. I wonder are all those probing questions to help you get more marks as it's the first time with the capability interview. Anyway best of luck. You should know in exactly a week and let me know how you get on 🙏🤞🤞

I heard other people saying the same but I was grilled on it. I mentioned an EU Directive in mine and they asked me would I have to inform anyone regarding the directive and if so who. I was taken back with that one. There were a few other hairy ones like that

I’m just wondering from those who got clearence over the past week or so. Are yous getting assigned to the same department? (Except if you requested to stay)

I’m still waiting to hear back from PAS where I am going, but would love to start working in a new department for a change.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28 pepz

Currently waiting to hear where ive been placed haven't asked to stay in my dept but have a feeling I'm going to be kept really want to change though so the wait to find out is awful

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 83 ✭✭Dub Counsel

I suggest you are proactive and let PAS know where you would like to work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 120 ✭✭koifish

don't give your current dept or managers your candidate number, (or whatever code ties you to this panel) that'll make it difficult for them to manually request to keep you without those details. the panels go where the work is crying out for people.

you could always end up in the same dept but in a totally different unit/building/area, never know. good luck.

Did anyone else do their interview this week?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 88 ✭✭Kevboom

My interview was scheduled for this morning but they rang an hour beforehand saying it needed to be cancelled as one of the panel wasn't available. Scheduled for next week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 118 ✭✭ballyerlas

Oh no that is awful for you. You were probably geared up to get it over with :( Sorry to hear that. I did mine Monday so I was hoping the results would be out next Monday but probably not now if there are more interviews to do.

I have reviewed my clearance email last week and completed the forms. I know my HR department has come their part but I haven't heard anything else from PAS. How long does it take to go to gardai vetting?
