You did say “random” in your initial question, but the answer is “yes”, they do. The power to make war is considered an authority of a state. We expect that said authority is used in a defensible manner.

The other answer is “yes” also. I would be disapproving as a matter of policy choice, but if the legal situation is the same, so it the answer. It is a matter for governments to take up with the government of Canada, not one for the Canadian armed forces to take up with the Canadian government, unless there is a domestic Canadian law involved which makes a significant difference to the US position.

With respect, I have never “trumpeted” for Trump, and you will find very few, if any, posts I have ever made which support him.

I would like to think that nine months into his term that my position is clear that even if I do not support many of his major policy decisions (to wit, striking drug boats, deploying National Guard to California, being a useful idiot with regards Ukraine, seemingly random tariffs, Dept of War renaming, environmental rollbacks, vaccine changes… there is a reasonable list), I fully support his authority to enact those policies, with the possible exception of the tariffs which I suspect will fail in the court system.

It’s all very well saying he “shouldn’t” do something. But saying he “can’t” do something is a higher bar.

    Sorry for the multi-post.

You are correct on all counts.

There is indeed an element of hypotheticals involved here, since none of us know everything Admiral Bradley knew. It is possible that a crime was committed. What I object to is the automatic and definitive determination by many here that a crime was committed when there are reasonable alternative conclusions in play.

Doubtless some would then reply “there is no world in which such an act was reasonable”. I would disagree. Apparently so would Admiral Bradley. The lawyer Admiral Bradley testified he consulted with. And the person who actually fired the missile. We know that there are persons in Congress who want to find more information, and are in a far better position to do so than we are. They have already started, and it seems now that none of those congressmen are now claiming that there was a “no quarter” order given. They have many other disagreements, but that significant part of the previous narrative now appears to be incorrect. What else?

    ...striking drug boats...

That's the problem - there is absolutely no evidence that the sunken boats were used to transport drugs aside from the claims by a compulsive liar yet you continue to describe them as such!

Do you support his declaration of closing Venezuelan airspace?

Jesus, the US is going to have to undo a lot of stupid renames when the gigantic child who is resident in what’s left of the White House, leaves it.

    They’re going to have to:

    • Change all office documentation back to Gulf of Mexico (Because that is what it’s f*cking name is)
    • Lob Donnie’s name off the entrance of the US Institute of Peace and remove it officially
    • Undo the “President of Peace”s renaming of the DoD to the Department of War. (Both sad and pathetic)
    • And likely anything else that gets sullied with the Orange Lummox’s name or image.

I’d be curious to see if the “Ball Room” even gets completed before Donnie fecks off. If not, I suspect it will get a teardown. If it is completed and also named after him…I would hope that a rename designed to annoy him would follow.

I think the ballroom should just be left in whatever state it's in from the end of Trump's presidency onwards. It can be renamed the Epstein Ballroom and just be left as a reminder of what happens when you vote for people who have no decency of any kind.

I would echo those comments. Plus I would add the following. Currently the US population is approximately 330m of that about 6m have dual or more citizenship according to estimates from what I see. Lets just say in theory this passed and became law. That would mean that 6m Americans would within a year have to make a decision. If even just a quarter decided to renounce their US citizenship that would mean 1.5m Americans disappearing from their country overnight. Its not like a significant number of the dual citizens are not highly qualified people and very important in various fields. It would create absolute chaos if enacted. I would also add that nobody really knows how many Americans actually hold dual citizenship so the number who do could be much higher then 6m. It is estimated that about 40% of Americans are eligible for dual citizenship thats 132m so it is easy to see how the number who actually hold dual citizenship could be far higher then 6m.

So according to an article in The Guardian today, the 2 survivors were clinging to the wreckage, shirtless, weaponless and with no communication devices before they were struck a second time. Yet again Kegseth is proven to have lied. There was no “fog of war”, split second decision or anything like it. It also makes his alternative excuse of having to go to a meeting complete bullshit too.

    BREAKING on MS NOW:

Brian Cole Jr., the suspect accused of being the Jan. 6 pipe bomber, confessed to agents that he planted the bombs and has indicated he supported President Trump, according to two people familiar with his interview.

The Politico link embedded there says "Liz Truss gets her own YouTube show". That says it all in an ironic way. Anyone can have a YouTube show. Anyone. That's the point of the platform but the headline Politico used suggest it is some kind of development or achievement.

She was ditched by her own party and nobody else. She's the UK's shortest serving Prime Minister (excluding one who died in office).

Trump rumoured to be presented with FIFA peace award(new made up thing) at today’s draw. Infantino makes blatter seem normal. He took a selfie in front of Pele’s coffin after all. What a corrupt farce.

To be more accurate is it not the case that none of those congress men are claiming a "no quarter" order was not given is based solely on Admiral Bradley`s account to them yesterday ?

What we do know from his account for definite is that the narrative being pushed recently of the second strike being justified because those two left clinging to a boat cut in half by the first strike were communicating with some unknowns for unknown reasons which did not give them protection as hors de combat is untrue.

You do not have to give an order to carry out a war crime to be prosecuted. Have any act or part can result in a prosecution. Something that is covered in your own Law of War manual

18.3.2.1 also provides an example as to why no such orders should be carried out citing the German submarine attack that sank the HMHS Landovery Castle in June 1918 and then killed survivors in lifeboats.

What an utterly pathetic, fragile little baby.

And fúck FIFA and everyone else who enables this a-hole.

I'd expect this in North Korea, but it's an international fúcking embarrassment that this is the United States of America.

‘“It is presented annually on behalf of the billions of football loving people from around the world to distinguish an individual who exemplifies an unwavering commitment to balancing peace and unity throughout the world through their notable leadership and action. And therefore, FIFA awards the 2025 FIFA world peace prize football unites the world to Donald J Trump, president of the United States of America in recognition of his exceptional actions to promote peace and unity around the world”

I'm mortified for them. Absolutely mortified.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cjdrzd41j9po Following reports that Trump had clashed with the previous architect, James McCrery, over the size and scope of the addition, the White House said architects Shalom Baranes Associates will take over the project. Mr McCrery will remain as a consultant … The White House said new teams would need to be hired at different stages of the construction.

There is no war, you are falling into the stereotype that Americans aren't that bright.

Your views are morally reprehensible, take care.

More IV marks on them fat hands.

Time is ticking. This award is basically just a paperweight.

I know FIFA is utterly corrupt and Infantino represents that to a tee but even by FIFA's standards and yes I know those are incredibly low this is absolutely shameful and embarrassing. I can say this without a doubt if in the unlikely event we win our playoff group and actually qualify for the finals there is zero chance I will be travelling to any US cities to watch Ireland. No way will I spend one cent in the US.

    No need to imagine

It's not really anything but an example that the wording is being used to justify the policy. I asked the internet what Manifest Destiny meant and two versions popped up, one covering America, the other covering the Americas [as in both continents] both defined as being linked to the Monroe Doctrine, said doctrine defined as referring to how the U.S sees Mexico back then. Seeing as how the Trump Administration management team has become very Christianized in its handling of international relationships with other nations and continents, when it is made aware its plebs making poor decisions, it relies on stonewalling and denial to cover up the sins of the plebs.

Hilarious thing is it'll be his voters who kick and screaming about how children are snowflakes because they all get participation medals.

This was the world's biggest most public buying your child a medal because he is in his room crying after losing a match.
