This is hilarious. You’re accusing me of saying that ALL Muslims are extremists, which I didn’t

No I didn't. I explained to you what Islamophobia was, which isn't just criticism of a religion by its very definition. Islamophia is a prejudice that targets Muslims as people. It is in no way different to antisemetism, and if you deplore one and downplay the other, you are a hypocrite.

It would be, if the objections were not antisemitic in origin. But it's actually about erasing Jewish history in Ireland, so that won't satisfy most of them at all.

This is a quote from you.

It is more horsesh*t to paint people's disgust at the ethnic cleansing operations in Gaza as some inherent, racist flaw in the Irish pshyche, rather than a response to what, as I said, NGOs and special committees are telling us is a genocide, not that we needed them to given all this death is being funneled onto our TV screen and phones every day.

Oh and by all means, baselessly equate this with the Limerick pogroms (which only proves prejudice in those specific people who did that 100 years ago, an abberation in Irelands history which was isolated and NOT part of a wider pattern). Bring up Devalera aswell, we've heard it all, and ignore that Irelands history is possibly unique in Europe in that - I don't believe- a single Jewish person has ever been killed for their religion, and definitely not by the forces of the state who in fact enshrined their protection constitutionally, which is also I believe unique.

Of course, most Irish people protest Israel's actions in Gaza as they feel some kindredness with the people there, or with their situation (which I'm sure you despise). The religion of the victims, and the perpetrators, is irrelevant.

We are also quite adept at seeing the ignorance and propoganda being pumped out to dehumanize people (such as, their religion tells them to beat their wives!). We had similar said about us afterall.

You say the disgust people feel about mass murder, ethnic cleansing and colonization is actually prejudice against the religion associated with the people killing them - and not the acts those people are committing.

This is not supported anywhere in reality, or in our history. For some reason, you want people to stop talking about it, stop protesting it, and smear is the path you have chosen to do this.

Hand in hand with this, you try to downplay what Islamophobia is, try to legitimise it, make it a credible position to take. I don't know why you do it, nor why your buddies do it, but I do know is that it is pathetic.

your first sentence: that’s not true, ask Hamid Coskun

It’s going great for Sweden. Keep it up and you’ll have a far right party in every European country.

My question was if you were more afraid of Americans or Arabs? You started talking about Sweden.

'Antisemitism means being against a group of people because of their ethnicity. That’s wrong. Obviously.'

Ah then we are not antisemitic at all as we're against a lunatic regime that is murdering thousands of innocents including 32,000 children with an average age of 5 years.

    I feel better already.

So … do you agree with Councillor Reddy that the 7/Oct/23 attacks were "decolonisation" and to be celebrated?

    Quoting you here ^^ !

But you said it yourself there why I didn't quote you , " because several of us have already made that same point about Judaism." So to all those it is directed . But primarily it is a valid opinion .

And your second point is just conjecture .

I wouldn't dream of saying that women of any religion (or none) are not in danger of violence or death from their abusers, of whom just as many are in the Orthodox Jewish faith as any other walk of life .

Leaving an abusive partner from these communities doesn't necessarily carry a "death penalty " , but that's not a guarantee unfortunately that it won't happen, as statistics show it does , in the general population . And when there is a society where the women who have left are unsupported and not spoken of again, the risks are greater than a more open society where families and friends look out for those women who have to flee for whatever reason .

This is just nothing to do with religion and to do with power, abuse, control and isolation of victims .

What makes you think those abusive dynamics do not thrive in any closed sect religious or otherwise?

And to get back to the park before it disappears even further from the thread… I didn't care if they renamed it or not. But now that all the politicians have rowed in with the bullyboys in US and Israel, none of whom should have anything to do with what a democratically council in Ireland or a local community for that matter, I'd be happy for them to change it to Pope Francis or Michael D Higgins or Tricolour Park or whatever they are having themselves !

Talk about abuse of power and control .

Translation: if you hand-wave away all the substantial differences, then yes, both Israel and Russia are exactly the same. [sarcasm]Great logic there 😏 [/sarcasm]

As to the cartoon, I do recall the claims in it having been disproven and I accepted that at the time.

Knew well the looney left were behind this.

The shinners had nothing to say when the IRA were murdering Gardai and robbing banks but get all outraged about an irish Jewish man being remembered.

    Isn't McDonald from Rathgar?

    The poster was clear:

they are both occupiers committing crimes against humanity upon civilians

This is fact, sarcasm is superfluous.

The park isn't going to be renamed. 10 pages of nonsense.

Best thing would be to build a huge wall around its perimeter, with no access, as a reminder of the apartheid separation being conducted by Israel.

I don't believe that anyone should celebrate murders and savagery and have always said so whether its the Arabs or the Israelis.

Do you feel the same ?

These f***s are increasing property tax and this is how they spend their time. I'm disgusted with DCC.

that doesn't get you out of being racist.

using a religion to target someone can also be a form of racism as you will well know.

This joke is not as funny as you want it to be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,967 ✭✭✭Potatoeman

The left has been attacking Christianity for decades, even ten years ago they would have said all religion is poison, now they won’t call out Islam for it’s regressive beliefs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 607 ✭✭✭wildgreen

Look over there is actually Palestine. Israel has been changing Arabic place names in Palestine for 80 years.

The more signals sent across the World, that Israel's ethnic cleansing and genocide are war crimes, the better.

    https://www.lbcgroup.tv/news/news-bulletin-reports/734093/a-legacy-in-limbo-israels-cultural-battle-in-renaming-palestinian-citi/en

Government Naming Committee is a public committee appointed by the Government of Israel, which deals with the designation of names for communities and other points on the map of Israel, and the replacement of Arabic names that existed until 1948 with Hebrew names.

I must have missed that post where you retracted it and apologised

The truth hurts i suppose when double standard are pointed out, because whatever differences there maybe, they are both illegal occupiers committing daily war crimes, but due to your hypocrisy you are the one who is keen to hand wave that away.

yes because the left have obviously realised that there is no point in calling out the regressive aspects of any religion as the religions are not going to change to suit them.
and actual christians don't care about any of this anyway as they are confident in their religion and their beliefs.
only the pretend christians who want to use religion as a weapon are whinging and playing the victim because people see through them and are preventing them from getting their way and they can't deal with it.
