Mullahoran would have notions so wouldn't be a surprise. They have probaly the best facilities in Cavan which are more like a club in Dublin. https://www.independent.ie/sport/gaelic-games/gaelic-football/cavan-club-faces-12m-boom-debt/26593211.html

Have you a reliable source for this? He has been in Breffni training. Now he may just be using the gym in there but the word I have is that the above is not confirmed.

Delighted for Cuchullains , they wasted a lot too, could and should of won by more

Fair play the Cucus, tight at the end there but got the win. Another Ulster final for Cavan clubs. That's a good run going over last few years

I only saw the last 15 to 20 minutes but the intensity of the hits and hunting in packs by both teams was immense in that period.

Good to see we have a Cavan men’s team left to fly the flag.

A great finish by Doughty for the second goal. A lot of mistakes by both teams in the last 10 minutes with good pressure.

Emyvale were beaten in junior final by Clogher. Emyvale were tipped for the All Ireland, though they scrapped past Cardonagh in the quarter final by 1pt.

No harm to Emyvale but I found their coach could do with having his wings clipped when he said whoever they played in the Final would bring a lot more than Munterconnaught when interviewed right after the game.

They seem to be a yo yo team. 4 Monaghan junior titles in 10 years. Their league is linked to championship.

Carrickmacross v Glenullin gone to extra time. Derry have a bizzare system. The winner of Intermediate doesn't go up. Glenullin have won 3 of the last 4 Derry intermediate titles.

He was entirely right after beating them by 19 points. Be strange if he said they'd have easier games.

He didn’t have to be so dismissive directly after the game. A bit of humility goes a long way and he got his comeuppance today.

It probably depends on the way he said it. I didn't hear the interview. But if he just said '' there'll be harder battles ahead and from here on the battles will be harder'' then I don't see much wrong with it.

Think that was due to some thing to do with Derry reducing their Senior teams from like 16 to 12 and then backtracking on it last minute.

    Still farcical though.

Interesting link below. They threatened legal action.

But they shouldn't have been allowed compete in Ulster in consecutive years at Intermediate, whatever about their own championship. . They played Ballyhaise a few years at Intermediate. The year before they played Ulster intermediate too.

    Eoin "skinner Bradley still performing.

The first of three meetings occurred this evening in Killinkere to discuss League and championship structures at all levels for league and championship.

Other than my idea to cut the senior championship to 8 teams, and have all juvenile finals in Breffni, are there any ideas the discussion group would like me to bring to the county board as your esteemed leader on Wednesday evening?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,548 ✭✭✭rrs

8 teams is too small unless they plan to have Divisional teams alongside that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13 Bduff1

Have to say I spat out my morning coffee at the last line in this, fair play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,577 ✭✭✭Cavan_King

There’s only 3 or 4 are competitive at the minute. Ulster club shows how poor the standard of our Senior competition is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,548 ✭✭✭rrs

I don't think the top 3 or 4 teams are that far ahead. Arva gave Crosserlough a good game in the quarter finals. Barry Donnolly who is usually one of Arva's better players was missing. Mullahoran went to a replay with Ramor. Ballyhaise looked the better team against Kingscourt for a good chunk of the game, but had bad wides. Gowna pulled away against Cavan Gaels in the second game. Gaels were very wasteful too.

Outside of those 8 teams . Cuchulains should be capable of putting it up to the top teams next year. Killygarry got to a final a few years ago. They have better forwards then most teams but lack steel.

I was listening to the WAC podcast where they were talking about the demise of the U20 Championship. It has lost its spark since it is no longer knockout. Everything in Cavam has to be dragged out. The U20 players are either playing Senior football or reserve and lots of games anyway.

McKenna Cup groups. Seems regional now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,548 ✭✭✭rrs

Makes sense . Travelling over 2 hours to Belfast or Derry a bit pointless for McKenna Cup.

Has the Corofin player switched to a Cavan club, or training with Cavan under parentage rule? I think McCabe said they would be looking at players eligible to play for Cavan.

Donegal probably shafted there in that.

Id have had Donegal Tyrone Derry and Armagh Down Antrim but maybe group be too strong then.

I believe he's a brady so most likely Cavan father, I heard McCabe tried to get him in a few year ago when he was behind Graham but Graham declined. Should be interesting to see if he brings anything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,548 ✭✭✭rrs

Yeah there is 2 Brady brothers that play with Corofin. One of them is usually a midfielder.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,548 ✭✭✭rrs

That was the Corofin team that won the Galway championship last year

Corofin: Bernard Power; Liam Silke, Dylan McHugh (captain), Cathal Silke; Conor Cunningham, Brian Cogger, Kieran Molloy; Ciarán Brady, Mike Farragher; Patrick Egan, Micheál Lundy, Dylan Canney; Gary Sice, Darragh Silke, Jack McCabe.

Subs: Colin Brady for Lundy (29), Jason Leonard for Canney (48), Tony Gill for Ciarán Brady (58), Gavin Burke for Cogger (60+1).

Gary Sice 1-2 (2fs), Jack McCabe 1-1; Dylan Canney (2f), Darragh Silke and Colin Brady 0-2 each.

I thought the new manager wanted Cavan players to stop thinking they were inferior to others? Strange way to do that by getting player imports immediately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13 Bduff1

I see what you saying but doesn’t that actually increase the feeling that you could be dropped at any moment? If you’re bringing in imports straight away, it reinforces the idea that lads aren’t trusted and that their place isn’t secure.

    Therefore removing the inferior mindset.

Bringing in lads that are not good enough for there own county tells it own story.
