To be somewhat fair, the current position of "we'll happily sell arms but are not interested in giving them gratis" is the same as that of the US in WW2 before they were attacked. Destroyers for bases, cash and carry... even lend lease still required payment even after the US got sucked into the fighting. "Sell Ukraine weapons" is a more universally supported position in the US than "give Ukraine weapons". Lend Lease for Ukraine was passed in 2022, the idea is not unique to Trump either.

US arms showrooms are not come as can, any exports or re-exports still require permission be granted for Ukraine to receive them, and granted it is. A situation which infamously cannot be said for Switzerland, for example.

Lucien, the system in Russia is an oligarchic form of capitalism. You criticise western capitalism while ignoring the Russian version.

Nations cannot be reduced to vassals of great powers. The right to self defence is written down in the Charter of the United Nations. Ukraine is a member of the UN.

Also superpowers have been defeated by smaller Nations as Vietnam and Afghanistan (both the US and USSR) show.

Candace Owens is a fucking lunatic. Nothing she says should be given a moment's consideration.

Former Trump White House lawyer predicts he'll keep worst Epstein files secret

Cobb told Salon, "It's hard for me to understand why people don't recognize this as the total scam it is. Trump never wanted any of these documents released, and they will not release them — at least ones that open doors that could lead back to Trump. Cobb expects a "few innocuous productions of things that everybody already knows, but no real meaty documents unless and until forced by a court."

Statement reflects the number of FBI agents (1000) who have been working flat out to redact Trump's name from the Epstein Files.

A stopped clock is still right twice a day.

Just because she's a clown doesn't mean she's wrong. It certainly looks that someone or more than one are pulling Trump's strings and he's terrified to criticise Trump or Netanyahu.

If it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck......

Yes, I agree. But we knew that already, we don't need a conspiracist/liar/fucking lunatic to tell us.

Think about how all those poor trump supporting conspiracy theorists must feel now that trump is actively covering up trumps paedophilia, was trump in the pizza restaurant cellar as espoused by qanon?

Id imagine they'll leak completely and unredacted one day when trump is gone (maybe days later) and well have another Saville scenario.

trump constantly makes his supporters look like fools.

Has Trump said anything about his Special Envoy's private talks and helpful suggestions to Putin and Co in Moscow?

He said it was standard stuff in negotiations, which is patently b0llox.

You'd wonder if privately he's fuming and if those involved will be fired for it

he is so susceptible to manipulation through attention and praise that it is hard to know, he doesn’t think rationally. He might love the fact that putin is being instructed in how to talk to trump.

We don't, but its good to have the MAGA faithful hear it. The more they fall out with each other, the more the contradictions and incongruities of the MAGA world view become apparent. The words of Candace Owens, Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor Greene will get to places and into ears that the words of Democrats, mainstream media and other non-MAGA will never be allowed to reach. Once the chaos of Trumpworld gets into Fox and they're unable to hide, explain away or refute statements coming from their own ranks, the better for everyone. Of course some will simply cover their ears and refuse to entertain unwelcome news but others will be unable to maintain the cognitive dissonance indefinitely.

If the background data on this person's past history, to be a CIA employee in Afghanistan in a supply role during the 2016-2020 Trump Admin era is correct in detail, then his presence in the U.S is solidly down to Trump. Not that that will mean anything to Trump.

Mike Johnson has spoken about how he's finding being Speaker of the House. On a podcast with Stephen Millers wife he said.

In a revealing podcast interview, Speaker Mike Johnson depicted himself as overwhelmed and exhausted by the constant crises, heavy workload, and disorder of leading a fractured Republican majority—describing two years without a day off, chaotic daily “triage,” incessant calls from tens of thousands of people, strain on his family, and a sense that he is barely functioning in a role he jokingly (but tellingly) says he’s not really suited for.

Mike Johnson further described his speakership as an exhausting, nonstop, 24/7 grind in which he acts more like an overworked “mental health counselor” and “firefighter” than a political leader—constantly fielding crises, member drama, late-night calls, and heavy security demands, all while his family life, privacy, and normal routines have been overwhelmed.

I'd say the odds of him being speaker of the House by the end of January 2027 are close to zero. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he stepped back or was pushed out before the midterm campaign kicks off in earnest.

Any truth to the story that the following occurred in a U.S court within the past day or so? Its on the Breaking Point facebook page and quite probably is slanted to give an impression that the Trump camp is imploding further on the legal front….

BREAKING FALLOUT: TRUMP THROWS KRISTI NOEM UNDER THE BUS IN EXPLOSIVE CONTEMPT HEARING — DOJ NAMES HER AS FINAL DECISION-MAKER ON ILLEGAL DEPORTATION TO “CONCENTRATION CAMP” AS MAGA ALLIES reportedly PANIC ON LIVE TV AND BACKLASH ERUPTS NATIONWIDE

It started as a routine courtroom update and turned into a full-blown political soap opera. In a stunning turn, DOJ lawyers formally pointed the finger at KRISTI NOEM, telling the judge she was the one who greenlit sending migrants to a notorious detention camp after being warned about the court’s order. Inside the courtroom, reporters say the tension was thick enough to cut with a knife.

Outside, the fallout exploded online. Legal analysts, veterans of the immigration wars, and stunned viewers are already calling it “the moment Trump’s own regime sacrificed Noem to save itself.” Insiders claim Noem was blindsided by the filing and is “furious” at being set up as the fall gal while Trumpworld reportedly scrambles a damage-control narrative.

I see NBC news reported on the filing story as well….

you just could’nt make it up. It’s beyond the beyonds . Just imagine that world order going forward is in the hands of these JESTERS. I will give credit to Trump in ‘empowering’ Mr Whitcoff to get Putin to ‘ agree’ to conditions to end the war - he who has Russians as his two parents. No better man

    His two parents

This does however conviently ignore the obligations the US should be honouring as set out in the Budapest Memorandum.

Selling/costing weapons at market value or indeed above it in some instances clearly isn't a good faith position relative to the agreement.

Which tbf is in keeping with the running theme that the US is no longer a wholly trustworthy ally so yes no one should be totally surprised.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,924 ✭✭✭threeball

The US was never a reliable ally. I can't remember an instance of them coming to a friendly countries aid when there was a significant upside for themselves. NATO was an absolute boon for American MIC as well as the ability to maintain significant presence across Europe and beyond.

They reneged on guarantees to Ukraine even in Bidens time. Have history of spying on their "allies" and using leverage against these "allies" to enforce their will. The sooner everyone in Europe wakes up to this decades long fact, the better it will be for us all.

REPORTER: Officials say the suspect in the DC shooting was vetted and it came up clean

TRUMP: He went cuckoo. He went nuts. There was no vetting

REPORTER: Actually, your DOJ IG just reported that there was thorough vetting of Afghans who were brought into the US. So why do you blame Biden?

TRUMP: Are you stupid? Are you a stupid person? You're just asking questions because you're a stupid person

    ------

TRUMP: If you look at Somalia, they are taking over Minnesota.

REPORTER: What do the Somalians have to do with this Afghan guy who shot the National Guard members?

TRUMP: Ah, nothing. But Somalians have caused a lot of trouble. They're ripping us off.

    ----

    He is 100% cracking up.

I reckon we are one month away from him telling the press to f*ck off. He's getting no fall out from the personal attacks and he clearly hates anyone questioning him, so that's coming.

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

One of the press needs to get him to say that statement about Walz out loud in a press conference question.

Can't see that going over well if its words out of his mouth rather than a loud of word salad in a social media platform that only the disciples use

Exactly. Don't ask Karoline Leavit is his rhetoric appropriate and allow her to say one day that people love him because he jokes around and the next that they love him because he speaks his mind. Which is it?

Ask him directly, specifically to repeat something he said if he stands by it, or take it back, if he doesn't.

Give him the rope to hang himself.

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

Maybe so, but he’s given himself permission to essentially kick many more people out of America including green card holders and stop migrants coming from 19 countries.

And the most worrying thing of all- most Americans will likely agree with him- so he’ll have no opposition.

The illegal migrants may not be eating the cats and the dogs - but they may as well be because they have less and less support now from American citizens

'I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the US system to fully recover,' he said in a Truth Social post Thursday night.

Trump also vowed to end all federal benefits for noncitizens, denaturalize migrants who undermine the US, and deport any foreign nationals deemed a security risk or 'non-compatible with Western Civilization.' “
