Health Expenses "Not Claimed"

Over 2 months ago, I submitted health expenses for tax year 2023. I used the Revenue website to submit the expenses, together with scanned copies of the various invoices.

That went fine, but I haven't heard anything back from Revenue. I checked online yesterday - the expenses are there & totalled.

But their status is "not claimed". I assume that is why I have heard nothing back from Revenue.

So, how do I change the status of the expenses to "claimed"?

I can't figure out how to do it.

    Thank you, in advance.

Request a balancing statement for 2023.

The live claiming after upload option is for the current tax year (and stops in December or possibly even late November as they can't issue a new tax cert for the same year), after that you request a balancing statement.

If you only uploaded the receipts that won't process the claim. You will need to submit a return/claim for 2023.

When you log into MyAccount, you will see "Review your taxes for the previous 4 years" towards the top left. Then select 2023 and there should be an option to submit an income tax return.

Most of the information will be pre-populated. Section 4 is where you claim for the health expenses.

The benefit of uploading the receipts is 1) somewhere for you to track them and keep a record of what you can claim and 2) allows Revenue to verify the claim, without having to open a full enquiry or delay processing the claim if they want the backup information
