    Hi Folks,

    Looking for advice here.

    Currently have the leaf.

Torn between model y Juniper (hold out till mid next year and hope I can pick up one second hand) or facelift model s.

Dont care about power I drive slow, dont mind range, I do very little and none on motorway. interested in resale value and value for money. Like tesla and looking for a car I can shove a few sheets of plywood or a power hose or god only knows what into the back.

    Recommendations appreciated.

    2 very different cars.
Like comparing a 7 series to an X1.
    Both capable in their own.

S will be big, luxury, especially if you get smart air suspension.
Y will be spacious, more modern and may have more warranty.

    Ive had both.
The Y is better from a technological and safety point of view but the S is kinda like the daddy.

MSP or MYP? I’d take the MYP for pure modern and technological reasons.

Budget may dictate which one to go for.

thanks for that. Ya it’s very much dependent on how much a 25 MY is next year I guess?

I've had a few Leafs. Currently we have a 24 and 40kWh in the family. I also have both a MYJ, the AWD LR version with acceleration boost and a 2017 MS 75D uncorked with EAP, MCU2 and HW3 and CCS upgrade, so the same 0-60, but the Y has the newer tech, despite the S having air suspension and sunroof. Both brilliant cars, but you're comparing very different siblings.

The Y is my daily. Very practical and a slightly smaller footprint than the S. Tonight, I picked up my BiL who has a large E-bike and with the seats folded down, the bike went in without much trouble. I've seen the S also easily takes full sized bikes no problem.

It's probably fairer to compare with a 100D model, than a 75D, but for me, I would just about take the Y over the S, because it would be a much newer car, euro for euro. You'll not find many available after only a year. What sort of money are you willing to spend and what variant are you looking for? RWD, LR, or AWD MYJ? What S variant and year?

so from what I can see a 24 M3 fan be bought for 33/34 (done deal prices) is that maybe 7 off new? So this time next year will a 25 y be 37/38 ? Basic model is fine for me. Facelift MS looks like the bones of 32k at the moment?

but then at the back of my head I’m thinking am I mad to be spending that money. Anything would be a step up from Leaf30 and I don’t know if I like cars enough and clean them and polish them and all that to warrant close to 40k even next year

maybe pick up an older cheaper model y now and see how I get on for a few years or something
