Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe is to stand down today from his role in Government.

He will take up the second most senior position in the World Bank, as Managing Director and Chief Knowledge Officer.

The organisation's president is Ajay Banga and the bank provides low interest loans to developing countries.

Mr Donohoe will stand down as a TD for Dublin Central later this week.

He will also stand down as chairman of the Eurogroup of finance ministers.

Paschal Donohoe to step down as Minister for Finance

Means a bi-election in my constituency and unlikely to be won by FG.
