Democrats think they have a shot in Tennessee's 7th Congressional district, formerly held by Rep Mark Green. Trump won this seat by double digits last year.

Al Gore used to be senator in Tennessee before he was VP. Tennessee hasnt voted for a Democrat for president since Bill Clinton in 1992. Then again that was also the case with Georgia and Biden won it in 2020.

The whole Marjorie Taylor Greene thing is fascinating. ABC News apparently suggested that up to 100 GOP members could vote with MTG on releasing the Epstein files. It makes we wonder if somewhere, under the covers, the republicans have decided that they need to ditch Trump and they are using Greene to achieve that. When they had to get rid of Nixon the party grandees went round to Nixons office to warn him that the game was up and he resigned - Trump is not that type.

It's difficult to see an MTG electoral advantage (or disadvantage) in her stance - she's safe for 2026 unless the Republicans have really hit the buffers.

The other possibility is that she is a person of principle.

CNN had her on a short interview tonight in which she apologized for some of her public hateful statements, turning to how her public interests were now on protecting women, without her stating that she was going after one person regularly in the news lately over the Epstein files. She regretted that Trump had called her a traitor after it became clear she was not shifting in her demand that the DOJ Epstein files be released and intended to vote for the release of the files.

Or it could be as it seems to be with Mace in that she actually does have a red line and that red line is protecting pedophiles.

People have short memories. MTG is a nut job.

The absolute state of her and her ilk.

She's a QAnon extremist, paedophilia was a huge part of that movement.

Apparently GMax had a horse named Bubba. That probably makes things worse.

I've been thinking that too. When I read about pizzagate I was amazed how easily people were taken in but all that happened is a gullible people new to social media were led up the garden path in the belief that they were doing good.

Just because Trump saw that there was a gullible mob to manipulate doesn't mean he's immune from their pitchforks! And even if they did skewer him that doesn't mean their momentum is sated.

Taylor Green was always obviously bonkers, Jewish Space Lazers and Government Manipulated Weather etc.. yet the biggest bloc who bother voting chose her.

Trump might get dumped, but what lunacy comes in the door after him?

CNN reporting Trump held a meeting in the Situation Room to discuss the Houses coming vote on releasing the Epstein files. At the meeting were AG Bondi, Rep Lauren Boebert (an outspoken supporter of releasing the files), Deputy AG Todd Blanche.

When one considers what the basis of Pizzagate was, and look at what Trump has once again flip-flopped on dealing with, the Epstein files and paedophile ring connected, via him, to the GOP, it's no wonder that there are people in the GOP trying to cut their ties to him. Some of them have apparently had enough of Trump and are disavowing knowledge of him now that the general public have rumbled to the complicity of both Trump administrations in providing a wall to hide the files behind. Hence Trump's attempt to spread the blame to people in the upper levels of NY society by way of his AG and the FBI.

The beauty is that any new investigation will be creating files around what they find and there'll be no blocking long term access to those new files, especially to Congress oversight committees.

CNN reports Trump to designate De Los Soles (which is a Venezuelan cartel headed by Maduro) a terrorist organisation.

If he is planning on invading Venezuela, like everything else, something he hasn`t thought through. The Venezuelan army would be more likely to fight to preserve the drug cartels than Maduro.

Makes for a good cover story while they shoot missiles at innocent fishermen in the Caribbean.

Can’t wait to see this actually happen and half of the files are redacted…

Nothing to hide, release them unblemished.

Let's be realistic. There are legitimate reasons to query a policy of blowing up drug boats instead of detaining them, but this is no fishing boat.

Compare, even disregarding the cargo, the minor horsepower difference with the ones in this article. How many fishermen need to break 40kts to get the fish to home?

Trump, realising that he is going to lose the house vote, says "release the files"... And makes out like it's his idea.

I'm surprised he brought up Bill Clinton. I read over the weekend that at one stage, he and Donald were very, *very* close!

I take your point. But if boats get blown up because they look like drug boats, then drug smugglers will switch to moving drugs in boats that look like fishing boats. So I don't think the concern of the fishermen is baseless, and the fact that the Trump administration ignores the reasonable concerns that you mention does pose a real threat to them.

Will the files be locked up again as FBI investigate "various Democrat operatives" before the House Oversight Committee get their hands on them?

So anyone with a fast car must be breaking the law? Why would anyone need a Ferrari?

And surely anyone with an AR15 type weapon is a terrorist? Why would anyone need that level of firepower?

There's a lot of boats in miami that legitimate targets too.

Surely the US massive navy they could intercept rather than shoot to kill.

Anthony Scaramucci was saying last week the best strategy Trump can take is to call for the release of the Epstein files, claim transparency, and then scrub and delete all references to him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,944 ✭✭✭Brief_Lives

Epsteins brother has said publicly that Bubba doesn't refer to Clinton, but someone else.

Still the comment that putin has a photo of Trump doing something to Bubba explains a lot of things.

Regardless of what Trump does, it is clear that he has lost control of this.

Back in July, Pam Bondi was adamant that the files had been fully reviewed, they were on her desk for weeks, and that there was no need for any further investigation, as no additional crimes outside that of Epstein and Maxwell had been committed

Then he was forced to say he was actually going to investigate Clinton and the other Democrats because, apparently, there were now some possible crimes, and the early announcement was wrong.

And now he is claiming that he wants the files released. Which surely means that, if we are to believe him!, that Pam Bondi has been actively stopping the files from being released all this team and needs to resign. Kash Patel also needs to go, as he would have been aware that there were other possible crimes by Clinton and the Democrats which needed to be reviewed, but he accepted not doing anything.

With every move that Trump makes, the hole is getting deeper. As much as he has tried, using every trick he knows, this story just will not go away.

I'd be more worried about who ELSE will gets redacted. The "Prime minister" etc..

A lot of us are uncomfortable with the current POTUS issuing orders to the military, on the basis that they are immoral.

In response, we are asked to accept the premise that the miltary personell are obliged to obey orders, but they will do so only if they are legal. We are told this, as some sort of comfort. We are also told they have no discretion.

I think the truth of the matter is that military personell, just like police, have their own individual moral compasses, and will choose to interpret orders in a way that excuses what they want to do.

Here, we have a military person making assumptions in order to justify executions.

It is astoundingly arrogant, and deeply worrying.

Let's be realistic. There are legitimate reasons to query a policy of blowing up drug boats instead of detaining them.

Legitimate reasons? You mean like giving people due process instead of, I don't know, killing them all before investigating or detaining them? A little thang like that?

You've absolutely lost the run of yourself since Trump became president. The amount of delusion, downplaying and mental gymnastics on display from you is staggering.

MTG has got the Trump nickname treatment. "Marjorie Taylor Brown (Green grass turns Brown when it begins to ROT!)"

We should thank Trump for not having a lawyer who can control his ability to self-destruct. I wish he continues to know his own mind well.

I've become highly suspicious of Scaramucci, I don't think he's as anti-trump as he lets on. By his own admission, he is still close one of the sons and is heavily involved in crypto with him. Wouldn't surprise if he was doing some back-door advising.

I wonder if he struggles to be around people who are actually competent and intelligent.
