    Hi all,

Im thinking of replacing my diving gate over the slats to maybe 2 large diameter 4" or 5" i suppose pipes.

I use the divider to separate incalf and fresh calved from weanlings and others.

Slats are 11 foot 6, so thinking that they may be manageable for me to move of i need later so not permanently fixed. Ive seen them used at the feeding face and that similar fixing should suit.

Anyone see any issues with it? What size pipe would I need?

Is there a reason for going this way about it? The first thing I see is that you have a mix of adult cattle, weanlings, and young calves in the shed. I'd say it's going to be difficult to space the bars correctly to control all sizes of cattle. You'd probably need four bars to leave it stock proof.

Just thought be cheaper, had gates there one time and cow ended up calving and moved her head under the gate which held her down.

Small set up here, 2 bay shed.thought the pipes be a strong alternative. Be able to stop the weanlings going out the back to the fresh calf bed.

And want to keep 3 heifers separate to feed them hay and oats from here to Xmas. Can put the gates back up jist have to keep them as low as possible.

Ill probably be seperating the larger weanlings shortly, using quite wean on them at the mo,.
