Myself and a number of posters would like to know who or what you are referring to by "PLA". Would you be good enough to enlighten us?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,445 ✭✭✭Cordell

JFC it's PLO not PLA. My mistake. Now you can stop sealioning, you already knew from the context that I meant PLO.

Thank you. Hamas is not an affiliate of the PLO, nor - afaik - is Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,445 ✭✭✭Cordell

Indeed, it's all too common that different islamic terrorist organization to be in conflict with each other. That's why making peace is so hard.

The PLO and its groupings are actually secular. The largest faction (Fatah) is utterly corrupt.

I dint really understand why the plo is even mentioned any more. Israel will have to deal with the PA. Like John Hume said , you have to be willing to talk to everyone to get a peace deal done.

Do you also support the killing by Russia of those it perceives as threats or enemies in European countries?

I presume you are fully onboard with the Russian killing of Alexander Litvinenko in the UK?

Why did politicians describe the killing of this individual as terrorism? Do you disagree?

You say Israel only kills or attempts to kill those involved in attacks against them. Was the American ambassador to Lebanon involved in an attack against them?

How about the bombing of cinemas and libraries in Egypt in the Lavon Affair? State terrorism that Israel denied as a “blood libel” for 50 years until finally admitting their involvement and honouring the surviving perpetrators with Israeli state awards. Were the innocent patrons of these premises involved in attacks on Israel?

The PA = the PLO. The PLO are the recognised representatives of the Palestinian people.

Or in the Gulf states and definitely not using fake Irish passports. Israeli would always be above board.

The Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad, used forged Irish passports in

    January 2010

as part of an operation in Dubai that led to the killing of a Hamas official. Following the incident, Ireland expelled an Israeli diplomat and took diplomatic action against Israel.

Israel doesn't want a peace deal. They seem to have claimed a significant chunk of the Gaza strip as an outcome of the last 2 years and of course they continue to develop settlements in the West Bank.

Whatever resistance rises to meet them in either place will be used to justify further incursions.

All the comments about a slow response to Oct 7th and also that they knew in advance of an impending attack have been dismissed as conspiracy theories but we do know for a fact that Israel partly funded Hamas in recent years and to my mind that was done knowing they could target them at some point as part of a master plan.

They present themselves as such but really they aren't.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestine_Liberation_Organization#Ideology

Under President Arafat, the Fatah-dominated Palestinian Authority adopted the 2003 Amended Basic Law, which stipulates Islam as the sole official religion in Palestine and the principles of Islamic sharia as a principal source of legislation.

So again, Palestinian people are ruled by Hamas in Gaza and Fatah in the West Bank, both with strong islamic background and both seeking to destroy Israel. And unsurprisingly, also at war with each other. So yeah, good luck making peace with these people.

Good luck making peace with Bibi and his cronies. Hopefully whoever succeeds Bibi is different and not supportive of the expansion of the settlements in the West Bank or wecmay as well just write off the chances of peace for the next generation.

The Likud charter equally seeks to destroy the Palestinians.

But only Israel has the means and depravity to achieve its aim - and it's doing a mighty job of it.

The Palestinians are lambs to the slaughter.

You realise that Israel has been expanding it's colonies in the West Bank and Arab East Jerusalem since 1967? It's clearly the aggressor, not the Palestinians.

The US appears to be making sure Israel does not annex Gaza

The U.S. is considering building "temporary housing for approximately 25,000" displaced Palestinians in residential compounds in the Israeli-controlled part of Gaza,The Atlantic reported, citing an email sent by U.S. Lieutenant General Patrick Frank, who heads the Civil-Military Coordination Center in Israel's Kiryat Gat, in which he stressed the urgency of advancing the plan.

Cue the apoplectic Israeli response as to Turkey (they on your list @Miniegg ?)

    • Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will host his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, for talks on the possible next cease-fire deal phases, a Turkish source told Reuters, adding that Fidan would "state that, despite Israel's violations, the Palestinian side is adhering to the conditions of the cease-fire."

The Genocide hasn't gone away you know…

Mind you, I'm no expert, but perhaps syringes and bottles can be repurposed into a tactical nuclear weapon?

UNICEF said that Israel is denying the entry of essential items, including syringes to vaccinate children and bottles for baby formula, because they "are considered dual-use by Israel," meaning items that Israel deems to have possible military as well as civilian applications.

These two items are linked - as soon as the IDF "claim" anyone is a threat to them or that they are a "terrorist" they simply kill them. Because they can.

Just like Hind Rajab was a threat.

    • The IDF announced that it killed a "terrorist" who crossed the Yellow Line delineating Israeli-controlled territory in Gaza, saying he posed an "immediate threat" to Israeli soldiers.
    • In an upcoming documentary to be screened by U.K. channel ITV, an IDF Armored Corps commander says about the collapse of norms in Gaza that "If you want to shoot without restraint, you can,"according to a report in The Guardian.

Interesting opposing points of view in the Knesset. Seems Katz gave the Settlers the green light to perpetrate their thuggery. Golan disagrees - quite right too.

The IDF said it arrested six Israelis for their alleged involvement in an attack by dozens of masked settlers on an industrial zone in the northern West Bank, wounding at least four Palestinians. Videos of the raid showed settlers setting cars, fields and several buildings ablaze. Following the arrests, masked settlers attacked the soldiers and damaged an army vehicle, according to the IDF.

    • Democrats party chairman Yair Golan posted on X that the Israeli government is "abandoning the IDF to violent settlers," and called to "immediately reinstate administrative arrest warrants [detention without trial] against Jewish terrorists," and to "prosecute anyone who raises a hand against a soldier, policeman, or Palestinian."
    • In January, Defense Minister Israel Katz cancelled all administrative detentions for Jewish settlers, saying that his decision was meant to "send a clear message of strengthening and encouraging settlement."

Alleged War Criminal #1 (at large) continues to try to hide the truth even to his own people. The Hague awaits him…

"Netanyahu is devoting considerable effort to blocking any independent inquiry into October 7, seeking instead to establish a committee whose members and findings he can control.

On Monday, former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett rightly labeled it a 'fake committee.'

And yet, every poll conducted over the past year shows consistent public support, often above 70 percent of respondents, for establishing a state commission of inquiry"

With no apologies to anyone for posting informative articles, this is #7 (in a row).

Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem said that Israel's strikes on Lebanon cannot continue, and that "everything has a limit," arguing that Israel constitutes an "existential threat" which proves why Hezbollah will not disarm, and that Lebanon has a right "to employ all means necessary in the face of this threat."

They've had a death penalty for Palestinians for decades and having just exterminated hundreds of thousands, it's a moot point I think.

But no surprise - Ben-Gvir was handing out celebratory sweets.

But I do wonder if his card is marked given he's a convicted terrorist and racist…

    Unionists enjoy a jaunt

The Northern Ireland Assembly is set to hold a no-confidence vote on Monday against Education Minister Paul Givan, following controversy over his recent visit to Israel.

Parties backing the motion accused Givan of misusing ministerial resources to promote the trip, after his department published photos and a press release about his visit to a Jerusalem school. Several teachers’ unions also condemned the move and demanded that the statement be removed from the ministry’s website.

In response, Givan said that the Permanent Secretary and senior officials in his ministry had reviewed the matter and “concluded that all procedures were entirely sound and appropriate.”

The minister, a member of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), was among a group of unionist politicians who joined a six-day visit organized by the Israeli government.

Latest zionist land grab is in Lebanon. They need to be stopped by force.

Israeli forces have begun constructing a wall deep inside southern Lebanon, amid ongoing strikes on the south and increasing threats of a renewed offensive.

Israeli media reports confirmed the construction of the massive concrete wall two kilometres into Lebanese territory, facing the border towns of Maroun al-Ras and Aitaroun.

    BBC report

Givan told members in the assembly the motion was a "toxic mix of antisemitism, anti-unionism and hypocrisy".

"This is not principled politics - it's an attempt at ideological purging," he said.

"This motion has not just targeted me. It has sent a chilling message to the unionist community that our convictions, our values and our right to engage with the wider world are to be policed and punished."

The DUP minister accused People Before Profit assembly member Gerry Carroll of "trumped up charges" against him.

Givan also defended the press release issued by Stormont's Department of Education.

The minister said it was "a request that was quite properly approved at the highest level in the department before it was issued".

The press release states that it was to learn about inclusivity :)

Education Minister Paul Givan today visited Ofek School in the Jerusalem District to learn more about Israel’s innovative approaches to gifted education and inclusive learning.

just as a matter of interest, are you happy with the Israeli leadership seeing as they are just as blood thirsty as Hamas ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,637 ✭✭✭dmcdona

Learning about inclusivity from Israel? Sweet Jesus…

He certainly has the Hasbara down to a tee.

I wonder if an opposition politician, criticised for visiting the West Bank, would get away with "our right to engage with the wider world"

More likely they'd just be called a Hamas supporter.

They just can't help themselves. Brazen land grabbing, two fingers to International Law and constant belligerence and warmongering.

    It won't end well.
